BIR releases order to tax any income received by social media influencers

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

BIR released a new order concerning online influencers:

"To enhance tax compliance and eventually, increase tax revenues, concerned BIR offices are advised to conduct a FULL-BLOWN TAX INVESTIGATION against social media influencers residing and/or registered within their respective jurisdiction."

Also, please take note that this also covers creators and brand ambassadors doing ex-deals.  So kahit tumatanggap ka lang ng product for review or unboxing and you'll keep it, it is taxable.

Not sure how they'll implement it effectively.  And if tama pagkakaintindi ko, this part affects everyone even if you're not earning 250k annually.  And this is not limited to video content, this covers photos and posts as well.

Please read if you have the time (link is below this article). You may be breaking the law without you knowing it.

The basic principle in taxation is, anything derived as  income is taxable, lumang batas na yan.. However, merong tax exempt, not sure on the updated one, as long as you don't reach above 250k  yata on annual revenue, then you're tax exempted.

And regardless if you need to pay (if it was not deducted by YouTube) then you still have to file, meron pong forms yan and you can download it from BIR website pati submission andun na din so you don't need to go to your BIR office.

Double taxation or more pa nga grabe. US tax, PH tax, bank charges, tapos kapag ginastos mo na ay tax ulit. Parang nakakaloko lang kapag maisip mo.

As of the moment, 42.5k pa lang po YouTube subscribers ko, BIR.

Obviously not earning as much as those with millions of subscribers and a significant number of views.

It's crazy how the government imposes taxes on everyone else other than the "rich people" who are under their wings, or the other way round.  I'm praying for a righteous government on 2022. Fuck the Duterte administration.

WE PAY OUR TAXES, BUT WE ARE FRUSTRATED BY HOW OUR TAXES ARE WASTED, ABUSED AND MISUSED.

Mas kalat ang news about corruption in the government and the senseless use of taxpayer's money to fund unnecessary projects like the Dolomite beach. Pero walang nakakasuhan kundi abswelto pa nga, yung iba promoted pa or just transferred/recycled into other positions.

Then malalaman mo na nananalo mga bugok at useless as senators, congressmen, governor, mayor, etc. Yung mga appointed officials sa mga government agencies are mostly retired generals or friendship nung diktador na Presidente na walang ginawa kundi sisihin ang iba sa kapalpakan niya. The members of the IATF are the same inutil at walang common sense decision makers.

We won't complain if we are satisfied. We will be happy to comply if this government cleans itself from the top all the way down.

They should learn how to moderate their greed.

Sana merong option to stop paying taxes while this whole issue of misused funds is still being sorted out.

Or we should have an option where our taxes will go.
