Animax Kicks Off 2016 with Express-from-Japan and Blockbuster Series!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The festive season may just be over, but fans in Asia can continue to rejoice at the spectacular line-up on Animax! The first 24-hour anime channel in Asia is serving up a fresh crop of anime including express-from-Japan series GRIMGAR, ASHES AND ILLUSIONS, and blockbuster series Assassination Classroom and The File of Young Kindaichi R.

That is not all – fans of the hit Durarara franchise will also get to catch the final chapter of the new season on the same day as Japan, on Animax.

Unleashing the chaos, one final time

Adapted from the light novel of the same name, Durarara is popular among anime lovers for its engaging storytelling – each event is retold in different perspectives, making for more episodes to look forward to! Back to stir up trouble in the dangerous Ikebukuro underground are the franchise’s distinct and eccentric characters – the headless rider Celty Sturluson, Mikado Ryugamine, leader of the notorious colour gang Dollars, and his childhood friend Masaomi Kida, who incidentally is the head honcho of another gang, the Yellow Scarves. With some new characters and the return of original director Takahiro Omori, the stage is set for what’s been described as “an ending that no one will see coming”.

Durarara x2 3rd Arc premieres on the same day as Japan, on 10 January 2016 at 10pm, Sunday, Same Day as Japan.

The Philippines’ Most Exciting Cities For Real Estate In 2016

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Philippines’ real estate sector, despite having a somewhat restrained performance in 2015, is far from experiencing a downturn. In fact, real estate developers launched more ambitious projects last year not just in Metro Manila but in other cities as well, and these players are earmarking record capital expenditures, ensuring that the sector’s momentum is sustained over the next few years.

With this, many of the country’s cities will surely benefit from all these real estate investments. Lamudi Philippines lists down some of these cities property buyers and investors should watch out for in 2016.

1. Taguig
Taguig’s population is projected to reach almost 1 million by 2020, which will make it the NCR’s fourth more populous (after Quezon City, Caloocan, and Manila) and the Philippines’s ninth. The city’s real estate sector has been on an upswing ever since Fort Bonifacio was privatized. Several projects now are underway, most notably Megaworld’s McKinley West and Ayala Land’s Arca South. Access to and from the airport (particularly Terminals 1 and 2) and to Coastal Road will also improve when the flyover connecting C.P. Garcia Avenue to the Moonwalk Access Road and West Service Road is finally completed.

DOE Warns Public on Using LPG-refilled Butane Canisters

Wazup Pilipinas!

Due to a number of reported incidents, the Department of Energy (DOE) warns the general public on the dangers of using “LPG-refilled butane canisters” for household consumption. Butane canisters are used only on a “one time” basis and must never be refilled with LPG, which has a higher pressure than butane, and thus may cause accidents (i.e., explosion, fire, etc.) while in use.

The DOE emphasized that these butane canisters are not intended and designed to be refilled, more so with LPG. Based on existing Philippine National Standards for gas containers, only “welded steel cylinders” are designed for storage, transport and distribution of LPG for domestic consumption.

The DOE would also like to reiterate Department Circular DC2014-01-0001 which outlines the rules and regulations governing the Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) Industry, especially the sets of standards for compliance of all LPG Industry participants (i.e., refiners, importers, refillers, marketers, and even haulers). The circular also stated that illegal or “backyard refilling” of butane canisters is also strictly prohibited under the DOE rules and regulations, as its unsafe operations and substandard facilities posed danger not only within the area but also on its immediate vicinity.

DOE Reactivates Power Industry Task Force for 2016 Elections

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Cognizant of the government’s aim to hold a successful election, the Department of Energy (DOE) once again reactivates the Power Task Force for Election 2016 under DOE Department Circular DC2016-01-0001.

The Task Force, which was formed in 2010, is in compliance with the Commission on Elections Resolution No. 10023 deputizing the DOE, National Electrification Administration (NEA), National Power Corporation (NPC), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and the local electric cooperatives to ensure that there is adequate, stable and reliable power supply before, during and after the national and local elections in the country which will happen on May 9, 2016.

The DC particularly outlines specific duties and responsibilities of concerned national government agencies and power stakeholders, such as, ensuring availability and operation of power plants and electricity market, carrying out strategic preventive maintenance of all power facilities, and providing enough technical manpower for emergency response and security of vital power infrastructures, among others.

The Power Task Force Core Group is composed of the DOE as head and NEA, NGCP, NPC, National Transmission Corporation, Power Sector Assets & Liabilities Management Corporation, Philippine Electricity Market Corporation and Manila Electric Company as members.

Master Showman German "Kuya Germs" Moreno Passes Away

Wazzup Pilipinas!

After years of sleepless nights of "Walang Tulugan", the Master Showman finally gets his well-deserved "rest".

"In a statement sent to GMA News Online, John Nite said that German Moreno, who is popularly known as Kuya Germs died at 3:20 a.m. due to cardiac arrest, one year after suffering from a stroke.
Nite is Moreno's nephew and co-host in GMA's "Walang Tulugan with the Master Showman."

"He passed on in the company of his family and friends. He lived a full life, touched so many hearts through the years, and helped make dreams come true for most of the biggest stars in the Philippine entertainment industry," he said. "We are deeply saddened by his passing but we are comforted by the thought that his legacy will live on."

The late-night host of Walang Tulugan was confined at St. Lukes Hospital in Quezon City after suffering a stroke, and entered a coma afterwards.

Born on October 4, 1943, Kuya Germs had humble beginnings as he started as a utility worker at the once popular Clover Theater in Manila in the 1950s. He became a stage actor and later a film star. He earned his big break in television during the late ’70s, as host of the Sunday noontime show, GMA Supershow. He soon became host and producer of That’s Entertainment, which launched many local performers into superstardom.

Determining and Formulating Objectives, Lesson Planning and the K-12 Plan

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Lessons are the building blocks of learning. Each lesson has its own prerequisite steps and is also the application of the metacognitive and the scaffolding process. We can say that they are the significant substantial aids in order to assist the students’ acquisition of knowledge as well as their capability to perform, employ and create.

One of the concepts we educators have tackled was Bloom’s Taxonomy, which ultimately tells us the way of distinguishing the fundamental questions and the manifestation of higher order thinking skills like analysis and creation. Formulating objectives which concur with this concept like using words corresponding with the levels of Bloom’s taxonomy is a great start, which is exhibited by one of the K to 12’s defining features which is the spiral curriculum. When it is time for us to create our learning plans, we should make sure that it is understandable in the eyes of our students.

In order to carry out the necessary steps of an ideal lesson, we must first construct effective yet realistic goals. The purpose of a lesson is its heart and the execution is its mind. Instilling the benefits of each lesson is quite achievable, provided that there are appropriate and adept objectives. Placing ourselves in the perspectives of the students and making them aware of possible academic achievements beforehand makes a worthwhile and active learning plan.

Crafting a good learning plan also produces numerous advantages. For one, it helps us educators to make excellent use of our time. Nowadays, with the K to 12 curriculum underway, it helps us promote interaction and student participation. When I am in front, I will remember to follow my prepared learning plan as it guarantees a successful outcome.

BAYAW for President VS Governor Gary Palan, Congresswoman Mimi Hasa and Mayor Delly N. Sha

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Dear big news network na hindi News5,

Mas mataas na nga ratings niyo, ang laki naman ng budget ninyo, mas malalaki ang sahod niyo, at mas marami kayong tao. Konting originality naman. Grabe na nga kayo maka-delihensiya sa ads. Mukhang namimihasa na kayo e. 'Wag naman pong garapalan. ‪#‎BayawTheOriginal‬" - Lourd De Veyra

Under News5, Rodolfo "Jun" Sabayton plays a nuisance candidate running under B.A.Y.A.W. or the Bagong Alyansang Ayaw sa Walang Hiya platform. It is actually an advocacy campaign to help the electorate choose which candidate is best qualified to lead the country for the next six years.

But rather than just come up with a mere static slogan with a limited shelf life that is not likely to go beyond a briefly trending hashtag, the News5 team decided to go with something more interactive, something that voters could better relate to, something that will stick to people’s consciousness before, during and after the election campaign period.

Thus, the “B.A.Y.A.W. for President” campaign was born.

Pero diretsahan na tayo. GMA 7 daw ay nanggaya ng konsepto sa kanilang latest na political campaign in the person of Governor Gary Palan portrayed by Michael V or Bitoy. Madaming characters lang (Congresswoman Mimi Hasa for Na-mimihasa and Mayor Delly N. Sha for delihensiya) and using Michael V's impersonation talent. Binanggit na ni Generoso Cupal sa last episode ng kotrabando yung character eh. Halata na nasaktan ang team kontrabando. Buhos buhos yun effort pero ginaya lang. Sayang talaga.

Welcome the Arrival of Netflix in PH

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Netflix has expanded to 190 countries including the Philippines. You can watch any TV shows and movies anytime, anywhere for just one flat rate. If you sign up now, you'll get a month for free.

While it doesn't pose an immediate threat to cable and local TV, it still is a game changer in the way media would now be consumed, given that data prices are on a steady decline and becoming more affordable. Also the availability of Movies and Shows day one including original content (like Daredevil, Narcos, Jessica Jones) on demand is a very delicious icing on the cake.

Considering the rapidly declining quality of television shows, this is a good way to introduce better television series in the country, to replace the "teleseryes" that Philippine television has become.

Such was the need for more intelligent television, that some web-series have now become more famous ( or talked about ) than contemporary television series.

I'm sold. While torrents may still exist and provide an alternate means of watching such shows, the provision of a legal alternative will definitely help curb piracy and change the mindsets too.

Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas Stages Tisoy Brown: Hari ng Wala

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Television and movie actor Neil Ryan Sese returns to his theatre roots in Dulaang Unibersidad ng Pilipinas’s Tisoy Brown: Hari ng Wala.

Famed for his role as Boy, the over-protective older brother to a gay sibling in the award-winning film Ang Pagdadalaga ni Maximo Oliveros, Sese is currently an exclusive talent [blv1] of GMA Network. Sese’s role in Huling Pasada as the imagined character Mario of the prolific writer Ruby (played by Agot Isidro) garnered him a nomination for Best Actor from the Manunuri ng Pelikulang Pilipino or the Gawad Urian in 2009. Sese is a graduate of BA Theatre Arts from the University of the Philippines Diliman.

In Tisoy Brown, Sese alternates the lead role Tisoy Brown with another veteran stage and indie film actor and director Paolo O’Hara.

Drawing inspiration from Philippine mythology and folklore, Tisoy Brown is a reimagined adaptation of Henrik Ibsen’s Peer Gynt, a five-act play in verse and arguably Ibsen’s most widely performed play. Based on and inspired by Norwegian mythology and folk tales, Peer Gynt traverses a series of fantastic adventures: from the land of the trolls and giants to the world of the fools and even to the underworld. In the Filipino adaptation by award winning playwright Rody Vera, Gynt is Tisoy Brown who wrestles the historical with the mystical. Tisoy Brown brings the audience to a journey crisscrossing reality to super-reality and hyper-reality as he struggles with the eternal elusiveness of truth and deception, meaning and purpose.

Eight Interesting Facts About Manila

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Myproperty.ph opens the year with some nostalgic trivia that gives us a historical glimpse of real estate and business.

On January 9, millions of devotees will once again head to Quiapo Church for one of the most-awaited religious celebrations of the Philippines, the Feast of the Black Nazarene. Due to its popularity, the Black Nazarene is considered as one of the things that distinguish Manila from all the other cities of the country.

But being the hodgepodge of culture and history it is, the nation’s capital is a lot more fascinating than you think. Should you find yourself in the vicinity anytime soon, these random facts should help you see Manila in a whole new light.

1. The original Black Nazarene is said to have been carved by an anonymous Mexican sculptor and was brought to the country aboard a Spanish galleon from Acapulco, Mexico, back in the mid-1600s. There are several assumptions as to why the statue depicts Jesus having a very dark complexion. One popular account is that there was a fire on the galleon that brought it to the country burned, which charred the statue. Others believe it’s the result of staining from the smoke of votive candles offered to it through the years. According to Monsignor Sabino A. Vengco. Jr. from the Loyola School of Theology, the original image was carved from mesquite wood, a dark type of wood that was commonly used as a sculpting medium during the period.
