Wazzup Pilipinas Short Stories Series: For My Son

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Never ever miss the chance. If you can give your efforts to something, give it. If its wasted, then create another effort for you to spend. “Better give efforts, than take efforts, efforts might eat you” ~Albert Einstein

It’s better that you tried your best for something, instead of someone giving you that something, for they might use it as gratitude.

The father’s reaction or the change in the father’s personality is very normal for anyone. The fact that his son became angry with him, made him change his ways. He worked very hard, just to take the responsibility of a father.

The father sacrificed his life for his child, this is also natural for all the fathers out there. They even say, “I’d rather die providing you what you need, than die you providing me what I need”

Below is our short story for the day.

Wazzup Pilipinas Original Short Stories Series: Picture of Him

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Romantics believed in the natural goodness of humans which is hindered by the urban life of civilization. They believed that the savage is noble, childhood is good and the emotions inspired by both beliefs causes the heart to soar.

Romantics believed that knowledge is gained through intuition rather than deduction. This is best summed up by Wordsworth who stated that “all good poetry is the spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.”

Romantics legitimized the individual imagination as a critical authority.

Realistically, don’t assume or expect too much. Also, don’t be affected or be carried out by our emotions just because we are excited of something. We should be informative or we should be sure about something before we make our decisions in life, otherwise we might get in trouble or bad things will happen.

Below is our short story for the day.

Agripreneurs Challenged to Prepare for ASEAN Integration in 2015

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Philippine agriculture sector is expected to benefit from the upcoming ASEAN economic community integration provided that the government and the agriculture sector players have sufficient preparations.

The country’s agriculture sector is currently not competitive compared to the markets of Indonesia, Vietnam and Thailand. Poor farm-to-market linkages, failure to modernize and specialize make the Philippines' agricultural industry unable to cope with the ASEAN free market.

To help address these concerns, the 2nd Philippine Small and Medium Enterprise Business Expo (PhilSME) 2014 with the tagline “Boost Your Business” is conducting an SME Agri-Forum, a seminar designed to enhance knowledge and prepare agricultural entrepreneurs for success in the local and regional market place.

“It is imperative and urgent that our government and agri-businessmen must start working closely together as the Thais are doing. Believe me, I have not seen this. If we do not act soon, much of our agriculture will perish, poverty will increase, and we will have the opposite of the government-proclaimed goal of inclusive growth,” business tycoon Manuel Pangilinan said during the World Economic Forum.

The SME Agri-Forum will be held on the 2nd day of PhilSME 2014, November 22, at 5:00 pm and will feature business models, trends, threats and opportunities for the upcoming ASEAN integration in 2015 and equip the young agripreneurs to keep pace with the future of the agriculture industry.

7 Things You Should Know About Sunscreen Protection

Wazzup Pilipinas!

When you think you already know the ins and outs of sunscreen – here come new findings and information on what it really does to your skin, why you should use it, and when you need it most.Apart from the universal knowledge on SPF numbers, there is more than meets the eye about the sun and its effects that you should consider before choosing your next sunscreen product.

Read up on the 7 things that will change how you view, choose, and use your sunscreen product.

1. Sunscreen is not only intended for summer or at the beach. Dermatologists worldwide recommend the daily use of sunscreen.

2. UV filters in make-up are not enough for daily protection. Sunscreen in cosmetics normally protects your skin against one type of UV radiation only. Plus, makeup products are not applied on regular intervals within the day, so you don’t really get the right level of sun protection stated on the pack.

3. It is known that there are 2 kinds of UV radiation from the sun that affect your skin: UVB, which mainly affects the outer layers of the skin and known to be the main cause of sunburns; and UVA radiation which penetrates deeper into the skin with long-term and oxidative damaging effects such as DNA damage, premature aging and higher risks of skin cancer. However, did you know that besides UV radiation, the sun also produces Infrared (IR) radiation that triggers collagen degradation which leads to wrinkles, sagging and adverse heat effects?

Epson Transforms the Dot Matrix for New Applications

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The old, ubiquitous Serial Impact Dot Matrix (SIDM) printers (simply known as Dot Matrix) is one of the first types of printers to be widely used in the office space. Synonymous with extreme durability, the dot matrix uses a matrix of small pins to strike an ink ribbon and create precise dots on the page.

The sounds that accompany this type of computer printing come from the impact of a print head running back and forth, or up and down, on the page. The print head strikes an ink-soaked cloth ribbon against the paper, much like the print mechanism on a typewriter. However, unlike a typewriter or daisy wheel printer, letters are drawn out of a dot matrix, and thus, varied fonts and arbitrary graphics can be produced.

Businesses, especially in Asia and Latin America, continue to rely on this ultra-durable printer with its generally strident mechanism that can be heard all over a productive work area.

The dot matrix printer continues to be a reliable partner in accounting departments or other businesses that require applications for multiple copies or carbon copies that have to be printed simultaneously, such as receipts, tickets or invoices. This is a special function that laser and ink-jet printers cannot accomplish.

As a pioneer and world-leading manufacturer of dot matrix printers, Epson has always been equated with this well-regarded machine.
