Honda Cars Philippines, Inc. (HCPI) launched two new vehicles and showcased two concept cars to the delight of the media and car enthusiasts who assembled at the 5th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) at World Trade Center, Pasay City.

Focused on giving more people the joy of mobility, Honda unveiled the All New Brio (hatchback) and Brio Amaze (sedan) as its entries to the small car segment in the Philippines. The Brio’s compact build and sporty interiors make it an ideal car for people who live a young and active lifestyle, while the Brio Amaze, relatively longer than its hatchback counterpart, has spacious and elegant interior for the comfort and enjoyment of its passengers who may include young families who are always on the go.

90,000 Visitors Troop the Biggest Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) To Date

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Despite a setback from Tropical Storm Mario, the 5th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) held last Thursday to Sunday, September 18 to September 21, at the World Trade Center was its most successful yet, nearly doubling its foot traffic from the previous PIMS in 2012.

The four-day motoring exhibit closed early on Friday because of heavy rainfall and flooding across the metro. However, the 5th PIMS bounced back during the weekend, closing with over 90,000 visitors that spread across only three and a half days.

This year’s motor show is also the largest in terms of the number of exhibitors with a total of 17 participating car manufacturers and distributors, namely: BAIC, BMW, Daewoo, Honda, Isuzu, JEEP, JMC, Kia, Lexus, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Peugeot, Suzuki, Toyota, and Volkswagen.

“True to this year’s theme of ‘Progress in Motion’, the 5th PIMS is the perfect reflection of the industry’s robust performance in recent years. We at CAMPI are elated at the success of the 5th PIMS and we recognize that this is made possible by the joint support of the CAMPI members and affiliates, our government partners, stakeholders and of course, the general motoring public,” said Atty. Rommel Gutierrez, President of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines Inc. (CAMPI), the industry organization behind the biennial event.

NCAA Brawl Between Mapua and EAC: Ball So Hard, Not Brawl So Hard

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Mapua-EAC scuffle. Wild!

With only 28.5 seconds left in the game, a bench-clearing brawl broke out in this afternoon's Mapua Cardinals vs. EAC Generals game.

Yesterday's horrible and ugly end brawl game between Mapua and EAC has NO place inside the basketball court! But I do hope that kind of violence in the NCAA stays there and does not escalate outside the court. It's really a sad thing to see.

The refs lost control. The refs are a bunch of dickheads. That's what happens when the referees fail to do their freakin' job. It was a clear offensive foul! For not calling that flying elbow. For reacting slow to the situation. One ugly game!

Basketball. Boxing. Pro-Wrestling. 100 m dash. Name it, that NCAA brawl probably had it.

Kaspersky Lab: Right on Target with New and Updated Security Products

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Kaspersky Lab has new and updated security products for the Philippine consumers namely the Kaspersky Internet Security for hardcore Internet users, the Kaspersky Anti-Virus for occasional Internet users, and the Kaspersky Internet Security – Multi-Device 2015, which will be currently available only in the Philippines in the entire Southeast Asian region.

"The popularity and affordability of mobile devices as well as the accessibility of Internet has made Filipinos more gadget-loving and Internet-savvy than their regional counterparts that it’s no wonder almost everyone’s going online from their devices here. Unfortunately, this scenario makes Filipinos become increasingly and easily vulnerable to cyber-threats, particularly those using social engineering tactics, through multiple access points," warned Jesmond Chang, Corporate Communications Manager of Kaspersky Lab South East Asia.

At an event dubbed as Kaspersky Lab 2015 Consumer Suite Philipine Media Launch held last September 11, 2014 at the Gandiva Cafe and Archery Range located at teh 7th Floor of One Corporate Center building in Ortigas Center, Kasperky launched the said products, and treated the members of the media to an archery experience as well as a competition to later on reward the winner of the challenge.

I Am An Artist and I Don't Work For Free

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Artist: "Here's your design."
Patron: "Why do I have to pay so much if it only took you 10 minutes to draw this?"
Artist: "Because it took 20 years of practice, for me to do this in 10 minutes."

Because doing something for free or getting tokens in exchange of our work, or some would call passion, doesn't keep a roof over our family's head, food on the table, or keep the power on.

Think about it for a second. Everything that you see, interact with, buy, wear, etc was designed by a visually creative person. From the shoe and the
swoosh on the Nikes you bought to the type logo that adorns your dentists letterhead. People seem to forget that the visual element is such an integral part of a product or service's identity. Your willing to pay for the product, why shouldn't the person that made you want to buy that product get paid for their time, talent, and effort.

There is a common misconception that art is just "fun". "Oh you just draw and paint. Isn't this something you do in your spare time for fun?" NO. This is hours of agonizing over every tiny detail to make sure it's right, that it does it's job, and meets the demands of the client. Not to mention a lifetime of practice, education, and experience.

But if someone doesn't want to pay for it, fine. Do it your damn self.

"The Wizard of Oz ", Set to Open on September 26

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As a season offering to all children, Kids Acts Philippines proudly presents “ The Wizard of Oz ” with script and lyrics by LUIGI NACARIO and music by EUGENE BELBIS.

The story is adapted from the popular version of “The Wonderful Wizard of Oz” by L. Frank Baum.

The Wizard of Oz is story of a young girl named Dorothy Gale from Kansas who always imagined of beautiful things somewhere over the rainbow. One day, a cyclone came that hit her house and spinned up inside the cyclone, floated down through clouds and crashed to the beautiful and colorful land of the munchkins, the Munchkinland.

Her adventure started by following the road paved with yellow bricks to meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz and asked her way to Kansas. Along the way she met Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and Cowardly Lion who became her friends and went with her to also seek help from the Wizard. Their journey became so thrilling and enchanting because of the magical powers of the four witches of Oz, the Wicked Witches of East and West and the Good Witches of North - Belinda and South - Glinda. All Witches had magical things that made Dorothy’s adventure delightful, from the Silver Shoes of the Witch of the East to the broomstick of the Witch of West and from the magical kiss of Belinda to the Glinda’s revelation of the charm of the shoes. The story is about determination, love, courage, honesty and an important place like no other in the world – home.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Drastic Reincarnation by Michael Bay

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Cowabunga, dudes!!! I have a piece of Krispy Kreme donut shaped like one of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' head on one hand and a can of cola in the other! I'm all turtle-powered and ready to enter the Promenade cinema at Greenhills for the special blocked screening of the latest movie.

OMG!!! My TMNT are no longer what they used to be! No more charming looks because they seem to have all turned into extremely gross hunky muscular monsters in steroids. They may look "behemothly" large and physically imposing but later you'll find out they would sometimes act and talk like sissies. However, I have to keep in mind that "there have been many versions of TMNT before and there will be many after. This is just the 2014 model."

But wait! There's Megan Fox to begin with. Might as well hang on until the end of the movie. Transform and roll in to the cinema!

"The basics of the story essentially remain the same as in many incarnations. New York is under siege by criminals called the Foot Clan, under the command of a leader called the Shredder. Young, intrepid reporter April O’Neil (Megan Fox) stumbles upon the Foot being thwarted by mysterious vigilantes and soon discovers these vigilantes are teenagers… and mutants… and ninjas …and turtles!"

Wazzup Pilipinas Original Short Stories Series: TGIF

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The story is all about desperation. Lyca, the main characater, was so desperate for love which made her so ignorant about reality.

The author of this story focused on emotions. Specifically, love. Lyca became so blinded of the signs due to her love for John. Considering that she is naïve, she then believed to those tarot cards which was inferred by the “signs”.

In the latter part of the story, the she then became so weak to the point that she let go. It can be inferred that she did that for love. She might have expected too much due to her desperation and lack of touch. With the quote in the beginning of the story, she might have thought that love could heal her brokenness.

You'll learn to never base your happiness on other people,  and that before you demand love, love yourself first. Not everyone you love will love you back.

Self-harm isn’t the key to problems. Try to open your problems to your friends and seek for help and guidance for God.

Here is our short story for the day. Please read on and enjoy.

The Maze Runner: Above and Beyond Our Expectations

Wazzup Pilipinas!

With a $32.5M debut, and more than $81M worldwide, the Maze Runner franchise is off to a strong start!

If you read the James Dashner book, the differences were obvious but it was a great and intense movie nonetheless. Just because a movie doesn't follow a book completely doesn't make it a bad movie. Nowhere close to flawless, the movie is still plenty entertaining thanks to a good script that realizes it's dark concept. It's actually the best movie I've seen all year!

The Maze Runner was such a GREAT movie (mostly because I got to watch Dylan O'Brien for 2 hours straight). It didn't disappoint me! Such a good film. A must see. Had me on the edge of my seat. Made me laugh and I can't wait for the second one. A sequel is obviously coming up soon. Yes! The Scorch Trials is coming up September 18, 2015.

It is like Narnia, Game of Thrones and Teenwolf smashed into one. Personally, The Maze Runner is better than Hunger Games and Divergent. It was incredible. Really enjoyed it. Highly recommended.

The Union Station Barber Shop for Men and Women: Experience the Art of Singeing and Other Impeccable Services

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There's a new barber shop in town, right at the center of Makati's busy commercial district, that is bound to become the destination of both men and women who wants to have a day of pampering. Yes! You read it right. It's a barber shop for both sexes - and even those in between.

The barber shop takes pride in letting everyone know that they provide modern and professionalized service to all sexes and assures that everyone will be satisfied with the quality of their work.

I got to try them out personally during the grand opening of The Union Station Barber Shop which is located at the 2nd Floor of The Link just opposite the Landmark mall and right beside the Shangri-La hotel of Makati.

I was expecting just a haircut but my barber even offered an experience to be singed! Read again - the old-fashioned art of singeing involves the use of fire to burn the small itsy-bitsy fine hairs around your ears. They have a piece of stick, wrapped the ends with some cottons, pour some flammable liquid, and then let it burn! My barber then playfully whisked it near my ears just fast enough only to burn the tiny hairs around it.
You'll enjoy the sensation of warmth from the flame as the barber "combed" his fiery instrument smartly around my ears. Those fine tiny hairs were removed, leaving sleek and tidy ears. This makes you realize how many of the old ways are lost through the generations, and how The Union Station Barber Shop has brought it back to the modern world of barber shops.
