Japanese Manga and Anime

Manga

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Japanese culture has its own unique forms of comic books and animation. Manga (comic books) and anime (animation) are extremely popular in Japan. The earliest animation that is known to have been created in Japan was released in 1917.

This early cartoon featured a samurai testing a sword and being defeated. Japanese animation pioneers included Seitarō Kitayama, Jun'ichi Kouchi, and Shimokawa Oten. The modern style of anime was developed during the 1960s. One of the most influential artists is Osamu Tezuka. He followed the example set by Walt Disney's popular animated films and simplified the techniques they pioneered to save time and money. Today's anime is both generated by computers and drawn by hand.

All genres are represented, but science fiction is by far the most popular. Robots, post-apocalyptic metropolises, and motorcycles are all staples of the art form. Manga features similar content.

My Top Ten Japanese Rock Bands

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Do you listen to any J-rock bands? I figured since I'm really into Japanese music, I thought it would be interesting to show you guys how great these guys are by making a top ten list about them. This list shows the most professional modern rock bands that I've ever heard.

My main basis is in rock/visual kei. Visual kei gets a bad rap sometimes, but the thing is, visual kei doesn't describe the band at all. It just means visuals are important to them greatly. But the bands can, and will do, any type of music.

So if you don't like the visual side of it, cool, ignore it and just focus on the music, because there are some damn good bands in japan. One thing you will find out is that the bands in japan aren't afraid to try new styles and don't stick to just one, which makes them stay fresh in my eyes.

FFL: Friends For Life

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We all have friends, right? But not all of our friends will stay by our side all the times. Some of them may just use us for their own benefit and after they used you, they'll just leave you already. Yes, I have experienced that. But it's not my loss anyway. That's why I'm thankful that I have met true friends.

I have both Filipino and Malaysian friends. I met my Malaysian friends in an exchange program held last November 12-15, 2013. My new found friends are Anis and Seha. They are from Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Syed Putra. It is a science high school in Malaysia.

I have never thought that they are as vain as me and my friends are. We took pictures with each other. Even though we only had a short period of time to be with each other we still had fun! We really enjoyed each other's company.

What Really Happened With All The Sponsorships

Wazzzup Pilipinas!

There's a lot of bewildering issues spreading all over the blogging community about many controversial and "fearless" people, along with a happy bunch that keeps on heating up the flame of disgusts between the parties involved.

Everyone has their own thoughts to share though, as usual, many are commenting without even getting all sides of the story. Some claim they know everything there is to know when surprisingly they have not even communicated in any way with all the people concerned.

There is an ulterior motive behind all of these, and I am afraid it was exaggerated into staggering proportions brought about by pride.

Team Members Initiate a Wall of Hope for Super Typhoon Yolanda Survivors

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Team members at the Aboitiz Group’s Manila Headquarters have decided to send more than relief goods to survivors of super typhoon Yolanda. They have set up a “Wall of Hope” to encourage and inspire the survivors who are still trying to recover and start anew.

Beginning last November 13, everyone who goes to the cafeteria is greeted by a wall filled with colorful envelopes where they could insert a note of hope and encouragement for a typhoon survivor. Each time the wall is filled up with notes, the envelopes are gathered and sent to the command center in Cebu, where they are inserted inside relief packs that are distributed to the survivors. A looped video beside the wall also shows photos of the destruction in Northern Cebu and Leyte , as well as ways that team members can help- whether by donating in cash or in kind, or by volunteering.

“Pinadapa man tayo ng pagsubok, kakayanin pa rin natin tumayo,” reads one note. “Just want to tell you that whatever happens there are people who care for you,” reads another. Others who speak Bisaya or Waray, prefer to send their message of love and hope in their native dialect. One note from a team member who hails from Leyte, wrote the following in Bisaya: “To my fellow Leyteno, I know the feeling of pain you are experiencing right now. Let us lift each other from this and may God bless us”. Others have even shared their artistic ability, drawing inspiring sketches along with their message of hope.

Perwoll Brilliant White Liquid Detergent : Turn Your Whites Back to its Original Glory

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Thought for the day: "Daunting but doable."

This was what former Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson said after he accepted the offer of President Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino to become the person to lead the rehabilitation of the Visayan region damaged by Super Typhoon Yolanda.

"After a series of consultations and briefings from experts in the field of reconstruction and rehabilitation of disaster stricken areas over the weekend, I decided to accept the President's offer to be rehab czar,” former Senator Panfilo Lacson said.

The former Senator has a challenging task to rebuild the infrastructures of areas like Samar and Leyte back to its original glory. But I admired how he said that is a "daunting but doable" task.

I was washing my favorite shirt when I saw the news on TV. I realized that the former Senator has a lot in his hands while I was tediously trying to bring my white shirt back to its original brilliant white colors. Unlike his upcoming new job, it was easier for me to work on my already turned grayish white shirt because I have Perwoll Brilliant White liquid detergent to help me renew its whiteness.

DOTC to Expedite Bidding for Improved P65-B LRT-1 Cavite Extension Project

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Contrary to recent reports of delays in the re-tender of the country’s largest railway Public-Private Partnership (PPP) project, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) is expediting the bidding process for the improved P 65 Billion Light Rail Transit Line 1 Cavite Extension (LRT-1 Cavex) Project.

“The only delay was in the schedule of the NEDA Board meeting. Otherwise, we are still following the same 4- to 6-month timeline from obtaining approval to set the bid submission deadline,” said DOTC Spokesperson Michael Arthur Sagcal.

“In fact, we are expediting it. We will adopt the single-stage bidding process, and we will set the bid submission date in the earlier part of Q2 2014,” Sagcal added.

The single-stage bidding process means that interested groups will submit their qualification documents simultaneously with their technical and financial proposals, instead of having a separate pre-qualification phase. This will do away with the two-stage process, effectively cutting the entire period by around two (2) months.

Princess Diaries in Tacloban

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Former actress Princess Punzalan-Field is living a quiet, comfortable life as a nurse in California with husband Jason Field, a marketing professional. But when super typhoon Yolanda unleashed its fury in the Philippines, Princess became restless.

She revealed that she followed the news on the devastation caused by Yolanda and wished she could do something to help. Princess received a divine sign. She said that even before the super typhoon struck the Visayas, she was using a meme with a Biblical verse from The 700 Club Asia as screensaver in her laptop.

So, everytime she uses her computer to get updates regarding the typhoon, she automatically sees the meme and for some reason, her eyes would be drawn to the logo of The 700 Club Asia. “Parang may sinasabi si Lord sa akin tungkol doon. Laging nadi-direct ang mata ko sa logo ng The 700 Club Asia,” Princess said.

One Pacific Place Residences Overnight Stay : Hashtag StaycationForTwo (Part 2)

Wazzup Pilipinas!

When you get hungry One pacific Place Serviced Residences has a restaurant on the first floor called The Strand Cafe to serve your meals all throughout the day. You can also order for room service so they can send your meals in your room. They have great iced tea though the glass was a bit small for me. They also have brewed coffee but my wife preferred water instead.

We had a pasta diner buffet where we got to try three types of pasta noodles, plus several choices of specialty sauces along with some garlic breads and buns.

Breakfast was heavier as they offered soup and congee, breads and jams, cheeses and hams, salads, fried and steamed rice, tocino, longanissa, tuna, beef, fruits, cereals, and omelltee that you can have a restaurant staff cook with your choice of ingredients. They have orange and mango juices but were not the freshly squeezed kind. They were probably either the powder or liquid form.

Driven Pinoy Dream Property and Lifestyle Event 2013 : Hardworking Pinoys Can Finally Own Their Dream Home by 2014

Wazzup Pilipinas!

More and more Filipinos today are dreaming of owning their dream home, driving their dream car or launching a new business. But it's also evident how some Filipinos remain hesitant and anxious on making these seemingly elusive dreams happen. “We really have to educate most Filipinos when it comes to financial literacy. Changing their mind-set cannot be done overnight, but it can be done,” says Lubar Delos Reyes, president of DRIVEN Marketing Group, one of the fastest growing real estate marketing network in the country.

Common challenges are the notions that purchasing a home entails a long and difficult process and that it is cash intensive. But with the efforts of the government and banks to speed up the process of loan application and documentation, more and more Filipinos are beginning to realize that it’s easy to take the leap. “Around 85% of our buyers are first-time homebuyers and they are quite surprised with how fast and easy it’s nowadays to own their dream house,” adds Delos Reyes.

This coming December 27, 28 and 29 at SMX Convention Center Hall 3, DRIVEN Marketing Group Inc., in partnership with BPI, is set to hold the first and most exclusive property and lifestyle event in the country showcasing the best deals and offers available for homebuyers and investors. With a campaign entitled “DRIVEN Pinoy Dream Property and Lifestyle Event 2013: Dream House. Dream Car. Dream Business.”, this first of its kind trade show format will allow attendees to interact and learn from the best speakers and institutions in the field of home buying, loan and personal finance.

One Pacific Place Residences Overnight Stay : Hashtag StaycationForTwo (Part 1)

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Shhhhh!!! Please do not disturb!

Hashtag StaycationForTwo is a well-deserved break from the hectic and busy life in the Metro. My wife and I spent a weekend Staycation at One Pacific Place Serviced Residences located in the center of Makati city's business district.

It was a well-deserved break from all the hassles and stress brought by our everyday obligations at home and at work.

Staycations are becoming popular nowadays where you just stay at a hotel and indulge on the facilities of the place like hang out and swim at the pool area located at the 6th floor (opens as early as 7 am until 7 pm), or workout at their Gym (also on the same floor and open as early as 6 am and closes at 8 pm), or just lie all day in bed in your room with a loved one wrapped in your arms while watching your favorite show on TV.

Philips Team Up with Filipinos with Innovations That Matter to You

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Innovations that matter to You “ Program teams up with Filipinos to help the communities in the Visayan region to get back in their own feet”.

Long term solutions were discussed last November 27, 2013 by the organizers led by Philips Philippines with the members of the media, including bloggers or the "new media", specifically on the basic needs and principles in building shelters such as home and infrastructures because of the recent calamity brought by climate change in our country.

Over the past month, the Philippines was hit by Super Typhoon Yolanda (International name Haiyan). From the destruction of basic infrastructures now pegged at 13.1 billion, health concerns, and access to healthcare, typhoon Yolanda has had an immense impact on 9.9 million people living in the Visayan Region.
The question is What are your ideas to help improve the quality of life of Filipinos through meaningful innovation?
