At a time when we face an abundance of choices in how, when, and why we use product so have sunscreen products slowly evolved from being solely used at the beach during summertime to a daily skin care staple. The message is clear: not only is it important to prevent sunburn, it is equally important to prevent rapid skin aging and deeper cellular damage.

Daylong, a dermatological suncare brand from the makers of Cetaphil, is the first to explicitly advocate daily sunscreen application. In its recent efforts to support its cause, Daylong conducted a UV-exposure study to investigate whether the outdoor sun at the beach shows the same level of strength in the city – even when indoors.

Together with five Filipina urbanites – Jaymie Pizarro, Jackie Go, Marj Sia, Janeena Chan, and Marie Lozano – Daylong used sun sensors to track daily UV exposures in Metro Manila for a week. From day to night, their daily activities were recorded, even when indoors. 

The study showed that in Metro Manila, the daily UV Index recorded reaches up to 10 from 12nn to 1pm, which places a ‘Very High’ risk from unprotected sun exposure. Comparing the city’s UV index to Caticlan (Boracay) and El Nido (Palawan), and data showed both summer destinations also reach UV Index 10 during the same hours.

I would always wake up early in the morning whenever I am away at a far away place. Why? I aim to catch the sunrise. I would always like to capture it with my camera regardless of how it looked like. Sometimes there won't be any opportunity since the sunrise would be at the other side of our location not visible since it would be hidden behind the mountains so I would do the second best thing: capture the sunset instead.

Luckily, our stay at the luxurious Infinity Resort in Puerto Galera allowed us to have a view of the sunrise. It was not as dramatic and spectacular as other sunrises I've seen since it was also covered by mostly mountains, but it was still a warm feeling to witness the sun slowly shining out to bring light to the world.

Of course, after such a sensational experience feeling the warm touch of sunshine on your face, my wife and I decided to have an early breakfast even before having our early morning shower. They say it's the most important meal of the day so we should not skip this before going through our tour of the resort, and the surrounding areas.

Many people tend to become more creative especially when they're in love. I remember creating my own customized love letters patiently decorated with a bunch of  my own differently shaped and colored cut-outs, aside from the highfalutin words that were written to impress.

I became more artistic and learned to appreciate everything around me. I never paid attention to the meaning of the lyrics of songs before but everything changed when I fell in love. Imagine how I would carefully dissect the words of a song to find out what would best match my intentions to the lady I was courting. I did all sorts of surprising things that I never realized I could do. I was obviously inspired. I was definitely always in a great mood. It seems love has a way to make us more intricately creative, socially aware and more intact with our deep personal thoughts and feelings.

As long as I have the means, I did everything I thought would make my courtship a lot more interesting. I aim to make my self look good, and that sometimes involves showing off more than what I normally would do.

We have to admit that we become more than the usual when we are truly in love, and we turn into selfless kindhearted individuals when we are around the lady or gentleman we desire to become a part of our life, now and for eternity.
