Epson Philippines Launches The New L-Series Ink Tank System Printers

Epson Philippines Corporation (EPC) has already launched the new L-series ink tank system printers last September 4 at the Marriott Hotel in Pasay city. Leading the event was the new Country Manager for Epson Philippines, Mr. Toshimitsu Tanaka whose more than 33 years of experience with Seiko-Epson Corporation (SEC) in Japan and other Epson subsidiaries will be a strong advantage in further strengthening the Epson brand here in the Philippines.

The media launch was entitled “Printer Evolution: Exceed Your Expectations” and was attended by members of the media composed of representatives from many magazine, newspaper, and online news outfits. The ever-growing blogging community were also invited in the event including our very own Pinoy Tekkie.

When the Continuous Ink Supply System  (CISS) or simply Continuous Ink System (CIS) became popular in the Philippines, I imagined it brought a significant effect on the ink cartridge sales of not only Epson but of other printer provider, such as HP, Brother and Lexmark, as well.

While other providers tried to remedy the situation by offering lower cost ink cartridge solutions, Epson was the first one to adapt the ink tank system probably a year ago. I could still remember HP offering a new printing system that promises of more affordably-priced ink cartridges that also yield many print outputs. I even bought one myself just to try it out comparatively with my CISS-installed printer. But unfortunately, the number of pages printed by the HP were less than the output of the printer with CISS.

Well, you couldn’t really gauge it effectively as print-outs  produced by both printers varied considerably. A laboratory test having both printer setups printing entirely the same type of images and photos would be required if we aim to achieve fair testing parameters.

With the addition of new ink tank system printer models, there’s now more reason for the consuming public to think twice in buying CIS options where it would only void their printer warranty. Epson is offering their own printer line that are equipped with a similar CIS-like system. Actually, its practically the same technology if the ordinary layman would look at it.

However, the big advantage is you no longer need to worry about voiding your warranty, and still you get the excellent after-sales support that only Epson could reliably provide.

Back then, if I was asked which printer would be the most excellent choice in printing colorful reports, photos and presentations, I would be choosing Epson as my top of the list. The choice remains the same until now. Although HP comes in second place, HP also has its specific advantages, though that would be a different story.

Anyway, going back to the Epson event, the new models of printers included in the launch was the L110, L210, L300, L350 and L355.

The all-black color is still the dominant aesthetic for all the printers. Epson guarantees that even though they’re offering the ink refill priced a little below Php 300, it still the same quality ink that Epson was know to provide. All black printing was said to yield an approximate 4000 pages, while the combine Cyan, Magenta and Yellow would yield around 6000 pages. That’s enough value for your money already. But we do all know the actual print-outs would largely depend on what type of images or documents you are printing.

…and oh, check out the C,M,Y,Bk girls in their lovely sexy outfits…I was too shy to have my picture taken with them because their high heels didn’t help boost my ego that had probably shrunk if ever I was seen in a picture with them lovely tall ladies.

I wonder if Epson would also be open in the popular  “unboxing” getting to know sort of a slight glimpse and review any one of their printer models, that would be cool to check out every nook and cranny of their printer, to get a feel of the housing, and to try the assembling of parts, maybe try to time the print per seconds, check out if there’s any improvement in the ease of ink refilling, give a comparison to the many other printers that came into my life…whoah…hehehe….and maybe do some printing just to see if its really the same colorful and vibrant outputs we have known to love, and many other tests we deem necessary.

Thank you to Epson Philippines for inviting Pinoy Tekkie to the media launch, and hope we get invited again soon to your next event. Thank you also to the free-flowing brewed coffee, excellent food, media kit and token.

As a parting note, we may soon be seeing the diminishing dominance of the CISS suppliers with respect to affordable printing solutions. The CISS suppliers may either lower their unit setup and ink refill price, or they may think of other ways to further lower the cost of printing. Maybe a totally new system setup? There are, after all, quite a number of smart minds out there.

But whatever their move, as of the moment, the ink tank system of Epson would indeed be more of the positive choice for every consumer, and may even spell the death of the CISS when most of the old printer models using the CISS setup have bonked down and retired it useful life.
With the warranty intact, you’ll definitely have peace of mind, and plenty of colorful pictures to boast.
