Seafood is my weakness and they have it in great quantity at Mequeni of Holiday Inn Clark. The delightful crabs and shrimps would be among my first picks together with other choices that were most probably meant to pamper your cravings for excellent buffet offerings.
Our visit at the 20th Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta led us to stay at the luxurious Holiday Inn hotel in Clark. This hotel should be your preferred accommodation if ever you're around Clark as it boasts of international standards making it top of the line.
Thanks to the organizers of the Philippine Hot Air Balloon Festival, specifically Captain Joy Roa of Ads Asia, the hotel provided us with two rooms for our team of five. But we are not here to showcase the hotel just yet. We would do that on a separate article.
What we would want to feature here first is their amazing buffet at a restaurant they call Mequeni. The buffet restaurant is located at the ground floor of the hotel, just a few steps from their spacious lobby, and just opposite their elevators leading to the different floors of the hotel.
The hotel management gave the Wazzup Pilipinas team a quick tour of the hotel and we would tell that story soon just in time for the travel season. You have to come back to read about how we toured the different areas of the hotel including their two other restaurants that are more like bars, their huge pool area, and the other parts of the hotel.
We are proud to have been given the opportunity to dine at their Mequeni Buffet restaurant for our lunch during the second day of our stay in Clark, Pampanga. This is where we proceeded after the glorious flights of the hot air balloons at the Clark Airfield where we witnessed all these balloons from the very moment they were inflated to their momentous flight up into the skies of Pampanga.
The restaurant is neat, orderly and ready to serve everyone that day as the crew prepared for the start of lunch time. It has several areas aside form the main dining area so you'll have plenty of seats to choose from. Find your favorite spots as you go back and forth at the buffet tables. We couldn't really decide where to begin as you can find a lot of interesting choices at every corner of the restaurant.
Mequeni is loosely translated as "Welcome" in the Kapampangan language. This is quite appropriate to welcome the guests as the best thing that can make us feel at home is dining on a great meal together.
We are happy to have our lunch at the restaurant and would have wanted to eat to our hearts' content but unfortunately, we had another restaurant feature scheduled later that day. From all kinds of meat, pork, beef or chicken, then from pasta to sushi, you'll find almost everything you can think of here. Trust us that this is the buffet restaurant that would be able to please your gastronomic desires.
Our Pampanga adventure is actually a hot air balloon and restaurant tour where we scheduled a few restaurant visits aside from the Philippine International Hot Air Balloon Fiesta event at Clark airfield held on February 11 to 14. We were there at Clark a day before the event so we could come in early for the morning balloon flight on its first day.
Among the restaurants we scheduled was a visit to another restaurant established by celebrity Chef Claude Tayag aside from his famous Bale Dutung. The 1956 Downtown Cafe by Bale Dutung also highlights Chef Claude Tayag's dishes with a special twist which made Chef Claude known as one of the most celebrated chefs in the country. You can read more about it at another blog post we published a few weeks ago.
But wait, there's more! Aside from the viands, there were also quite a number of desserts available. It is just a pity I do not have a bigger belly to put everything in. But I would love to come back again to Pampanga and visit Mequeni Holiday Inn Clark soon. They also have an area where you can have crepes prepared for you. They will top it with your choice of ice cream flavor too.
