How to Improve Your Essay Writing Skills

Wazzup Pilipinas!

To write brilliantly means to turn written words into a real moving picture of views, things, and emotions. This ability demands to be developed, and it takes much time to improve your skills to create a paper of your dream. If you have a white whale to become a good author who is able to compose works that are persuasive enough as well as touching and interesting, you need to learn some common rules for this.

Write it Better

These tips on paper composition will polish your ability to transfer your train of thoughts on paper in a proper way. All you have to do is to read and learn them all.

Use present tense to enhance the meaning of an action and describe it like it is happening here and now. Thus, your reader will imagine it better. This is a common hack for academic writing tasks. To compose creative papers, it is okay to put ideas in different tenses according to a purpose of an utterance.
Try to write as often as you can. Constant training will level up the quality of your work. It doesn’t matter whether you write about some profound topics or compose a simple report about how you spent your vacations.
The majority of people prefer to write at an early hour, as it has a great effect on a paper. Thus, you can have a look at a problem with a fresh eye and tackle a task in a relaxed way. Nevertheless, you may be an exception from the general rule. That is why you don’t have to torture yourself for hours in order to create a line. Find your place and time to write. In this way, this process will become pleasant for you.
Use synonyms to avoid repetition. The problem of battology is familiar to every writer, especially at the beginning of his or her career. However, a person can cope with it with the help of simple substitution of repetitive words with their synonyms. Be careful, as not every word with the similar notion may fit your verb, adjective, or noun.

Some Peculiarities to Avoid while Composing a Text

To write coherently and perfectly, a person needs to throw away several bad writing habits and forget them as if they were nightmares.

“Here are” and “there are” statements are too general and boring to put them in any papers. Use more active words instead, for example, “let’s go over this…”.
Try to omit “that” and “which”, as they are not necessary to be mentioned.
“Not only…but also” parallelism is okay to put in your essay. However, a small but valuable aspect has to be kept in mind. If a noun follows “not only” part of the construction, then after “but also” we need to put a noun as well. The same is true for verbs, if in the first part we use a verb, the second part should also contain a verb.
An excessive use of words is harmful to any type of texts. Omit unnecessary adjectives making no sense for your content and idea. It is better to write 15 words instead of 50.

Pak na Pak with my Unipak Mackerel Special Recipe

Wazzup Pilipinas!

One look at me and you'll know I love eating. My love for eating got so much pampering when I became a blogger because there's literally food at every event I attend, aside from the actual food reviews or features I do at restaurants. I grew from wearing a Medium-sized shirt to an Extra Large-sized shirt within only a few years in joining the blogging community.

But, that doesn't stop me from preparing my own food as well. Cooking at home would still be a welcomed alternative than eating at those fabulous hotels, restaurants, and other events venue. Like they say, there's no place like home, especially when there's great food served that was cooked and prepared by your loved ones.

Because we are on a budget, and always on a hurry since we are all busy with work, and my kids at school, my wife would sometimes prepare DIY recipes that can be quickly prepared since time is not on our side. She would often come up with a dish that does not have a name since it's all made up. Most of the time it would be composed of ingredients that are available at the nearest store downstairs since we live all the way from the 5th floor (which is like the 9th floor since every unit at our building has two levels.

Yup! We're all the way living at the top of our building so you could imagine our dilemma. We would prefer buying all that we need for an entire week rather than on a daily basis.

Thus all dishes we cook are mostly those that does not require fresh ingredients like vegetables that we could store inside a refrigeration (fridge) or freezer within a week.

Music, Public Schools & 2,300-Year-Old Dragonboat Festival at Kamuning Bakery Café

Wazzup Pilipinas!

On May 29---the eve of Asia’s colorful 2,300-year-old Dragon Boat Festival honoring the ancient Chinese poet and anti-corruption statesman Qu Yuan, the 78-year-old Kamuning Bakery Café in Quezon City and 15 songwriters of “Tinta Aklat Rekord Awit” group celebrated the event with an all-night concert of original Filipino songs.

Proceeds of the night’s ticket sales were donated for grade four students of a public school in Los Baños, Laguna chosen by the songwriters.

The Dragon Boat Festival this year falls on May 30 in the Gregorian calendar. Apart from celebrating with dragon boat races worldwide and also with poetry, another tradition is the eating of delicious rice dumplings called “zongzi” in Mandarin and called “machang” in Hokkien or south Fujian language. Kamuning Bakery Café gifted all the songwriters and singers with packs of handcrafted, pugon-baked pandesal breads and with the traditional machang rice dumplings.

Kamuning Bakery Café was bought and revived in December 2013 by writer and realty entrepreneur Wilson Lee Flores, who has envisioned it to become a social enterprise which shall support unique, non-traditional socio-civic and cultural causes. Among these non-traditional philanthropic endeavors include the tertulia-inspired and non-partisan “Pandesal Forum” where leaders and newsmakers dialogue with media and intellectuals; poetry reading and open mic music nights; book launches; art exhibits; donations of entire public schools for poor rural areas, and many others.

Yamaha's Revvy Bear: More Than Just a Mascot

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Yamaha Motor Philippines
Inc. introduced Revvy Bear last 2016 and was intended to be an icon of the brand. As a cuddly bear it may seem an oppossite to the toughness exuded by motorcycles; but Yamaha isn’t all about the muscle of its exterior. The company has always been about heart. This led to the development of a figure that is not a machine but a symbol that the public can easily connect with emotionally.

Revvy Bear is more than a mascot, it is a representation of Yamaha’s warmth and care that is delivered to customers beyond its products. Slowely but surely, Revvy Bear is becoming part of the Philippine culture and a staple in every Yamaha event and activity. But Revvy was not just made to be adored from afar, those who were captivated by the lovable creature had the chance to have their own piece through contests and games. Revvy comes in all shapes and sizes that can be used as a cuddle buddy or even a key chain.

After Yamaha celebrated 10 years in the country, Revvy Bear will continue to be an integral part for years to come; from a complementary part of a program to the main protagonist in campaigns, this adorable manifestation of Kando is here to stay.

Inter-Agency Task Force Secures LASURECO Compound

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Inter-Agency Task Force on Securing Energy Facilities (IATFSEF) composed of the Department of Energy, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP) and the other industry players moved to secure the Lanao del Sur Electric Cooperative, Inc. (LASURECO) compound.

Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi earlier issued firm marching orders to the IATFSEF to “secure every energy facility in Mindanao.”

Through the IATFSEF, the system operator–National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP)--reported that the Mindanao Grid is now under normal operation. NGCP initially reported a lower electricity demand in Lanao del Sur reaching only 5 megawatts (MW) on Wednesday (24 May) which increased to 11 MW today, lower than the usual demand of 17 MW.

As an immediate concern in yesterday’s IATFSEF meeting, the National Electrification Administration (NEA) and LASURECO reported today that 95% of electricity services in Marawi City has been restored.

According to NEA, the remaining non-operational assets are scheduled to be restored today as well. They are also monitoring and awaiting ground data for re-energization of affected towns in the 2nd District of Lanao del Sur, including Wato, Tugaya, Bacolod Kalawi, Madamba, Madalum, Ganasi, Pualas, and Pagayawan.

“We are pooling our resources and seeking assistance from the AFP and the PNP to normalize the security situation, protect our people and secure energy facilities affected by the fighting,” Cusi said.

“We must prioritize the safety of our people, especially those personnel on duty in the energy facilities, and at the same time protect our energy assets," Cusi emphasized.

Cusi said the Inter-Agency Task Force had been organized to prevent terrorists from targeting energy facilities and to help restore normalcy in the province as soon as possible.

In a related development, Palawan Lomondaya, National Power Corp. (NPC) Plant Manager of Agus 1&2 Hydroelectric Plant (HEP) Complex, has reported that he is planning to shut down one unit only to preserve station service for Agus 1 HEP due to an M-79 grenade landing in the plant's vicinity, apparently fired by the Maute Group that's now the target of intensive search-and-destroy operations by the military. Nevertheless, the NPC are continuously are mobilizing their technical personnel to ensure the delivery of sufficient supply and to meet the demand of its consumers.

"I commend the energy personnel on the ground who have been ensuring the delivery of basic energy services to our people, especially in Marawi City," Cusi concluded.

DOE and EU Join Hands to Elevate Energy-Efficient and Sustainable Product Standards in PH

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As part of the Philippine-EU Access to the Sustainable Energy Program (ASEP), the Department of Energy (DOE) held on Wednesday at the F1 Hotel in Bonifacio Global City the first of a series of several public consultations on the development of energy efficiency and conservation (EE&C) policies of the Philippine government.

The forum assembled experts and stakeholders in the field of EE&C to tackle and share technical know-how on the Particular Product Requirements (PPR) under the DOE's expanded Philippine Energy Standard and Labeling Program (PESLP).

The DOE formulated the PPRs to guide manufacturers, importers, distributors and dealers as to the required energy efficiency standards for the following products: room air-conditioners, refrigerators and freezers, lighting products (e.g., CFL, linear and circular fluorescent lamps), washing machines, televisions, light-duty motor vehicles and other energy-consuming devices.

According to DOE-Energy Research Testing and Laboratory Services (ERTLS) Division Chief Engr. Isagani Soriano, the purpose of the PPRs is to “provide the detailed technical requirements for both refrigerating appliances and air-conditioners covered by the PESLP; particularly requiring the attachment of an energy label or the so-called 'Yellow Label'.”

"Meeting the PPR also "indicates compliance with the Minimum Energy Performance (MEP) for the specific appliance. MEPS is the government’s policy that is guiding the business sector that appliances covered under the program are meeting the established energy efficiency criteria for a particular technology,” Engr. Soriano added.

DOE-ERTLS Senior Science Research Specialists Engr. Jomar S. Landicho and Engr. Herbert S. Orencia presented the draft PPRs for air-conditioners and refrigerating appliances, respectively.

Representatives from the government and the private sector were on hand to provide comments and recommendations to improve the Philippine PPRs.

Guests included representatives fron the Department of Trade Industry-Bureau of Product Standards (DTI-PBS), GIZ, Hanabishi, Omni Solid Services Inc., Panasonic, LG, Haier, PAIA, Hitachi, Concepcion Midea, TUV Rheinland Phil. Inc., ICASEA, IIEE Foundation Inc., Daikin Airconditioning, Fortune Gen. Mdse., CYA Industries, TCL, Sharp Philippines Inc., Trademaster, Camel, Electrolux, Kolin, Koppel, Stellar, Samsung, Tosot Philippines and Whirlpool/Fujidenzo.

Also present in the event were ASEP experts led by Team Leader Mads Christensen, and EE&C experts Detlef Loy, Lori Navarro and former ERTLS Director Raquel Huliganga.

EEC plays an essential role in the country's overall energy policy in view of social and binding international obligations to take an active part in the global campaign on environment protection and climate change mitigation.

DOE Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi has previously emphasized that “energy efficiency and conservation policies are vital to the country’s contribution to the global movement of cutting down carbon emissions, the attainment of sustainable development and the improvement of quality of life of the Filipino consuming public. Ultimately, our goal is to enhance the consumer's power of choice."

The ASEP is a joint undertaking of the DOE and the EU that is committed to the goals of total electrification, energy security, energy efficiency and sustainability in the Philippines.
