Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady The Musical: Well Deserving of a Repeat

Wazzup Pilipinas!

My childhood was filled with superheroes. From the comic book to the cartoons in both movies and TV shows, I enjoyed learning about super-powered beings with out of this world capabilities. From aliens to mutants, or humans that transformed into powerful beings because of accidents like exposure to gamma rays or a bite from a spider, we all loved how the ordinary guy turned into an image respected and adored.

But just like any superhero story, there would always be the evil counterparts aiming to bring down the superheroes due to many reasons like as simple as robbing a bank or bigger like world domination.

Do you now why we love superheroes? It is because we all have that inner longing to save the world, or be saved by a superhero. Yes! We all want someone to rise up against the oppressors to bring forth the downfall of a tyranny, or we want all the criminals behind bars, or the corrupt politicians to finally be exposed for the real reasons why they would spend millions and even die just to be in government office.

Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady the Musical Repeat does not only tackles the eminence of being a superhero. It also deals with so many life challenges and realities. From the unfavorable conditions of the masses who are forced to work as maids because of lack of better work opportunities, to how we are easily brainwashed into submission due to lack of education and support from family, to the sibling rivalries at home.

The Real Reason Why the Internet is Slow in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"The main reason why Filipinos are paying more for slower internet connection compared to other countries is because PLDT acts as the country’s own backbone, able to control all the flow of internet traffic from Philippines to the outside. ISPs are also required to pay PLDT for using its ‘fake’ backbone instead of relying to real backbone service providers like PACNET to properly handle the data exchange for this country."

The lack of competition in the telecommunication industry leads to bad economic and social consequences, such as crappy services, lack of innovation and service improvement, expensive products and/or services, lack of jobs, and corporate arrogance, among many other things that would not make any Filipino happy except the oligarch that is responsible for such monopoly.

PLDT may use everything in its power to oppose and brainwash people in believing otherwise but it all boils down to who gets to gain more from the situation. We are not fools that can easily be bought by the marketing gimmicks of "free" and "unlimited" promos, or the many CSR activities supporting foundations, charitable institutions, or NGOs.

The government is fully aware of the situation yet it does not have the will power to use its authority to bring down, or at least moderate, this greed.

I am reposting this article found at reddit since I am strongly opposing the current situation - the real cause of why our Internet is too slow.

Media for Hire: Token or Not Token, That is the Question

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Do we really need to specify what the complimentary "token" will be for every event invite that we help organize?

Does it really matter if there's a token or not?

We once told someone that getting invited to an event, especially if it's a direct invite (and not just a plus one or a recommendation from another media) is already a privilege because that means the organizers strongly believe we have the influence to help them share the news about their products, brands or services. The token given is just a bonus. The invite is enough as a reward because not everyone gets the honor of being part of an event.

We were laughed at.

It saddens us so much that some would need to ask for the details of the token before they agree to attend an event. We don't usually ask the organizers what particular items they will give, but sometimes we are forced because some would require to be compensated handsomely.

The right to be picky and ask for a specific "talent fee" is probably just for those that already have built a name for themselves as among the widely recognized and influential. Perhaps those who already have a "handler" managing their career are somewhat entitled. Those who have attained celebrity status can possibly demand their "asking price."

Delivering Quality Healthcare On Wheels

Wazzup Pilipinas!

While relief goods and medication are being transported to the victims of typhoon Yolanda, ten doctors in some of the country’s remote communities are bicycling their medical assistance to Filipino patients who do not have access to immediate healthcare even during fair weathers.

On the heels of the typhoon’s onslaught last November 2013, Primer Group of Companies—a company known for engaging in the retail and distribution of premium consumer brands in outdoor, fashion, wellness, and urban lifestyle—has dedicated itself to heeding the calls of vulnerable Filipinos through the C.O.R.E.’s Heroes on Wheels.

The C.O.R.E. is the advocacy arm of Primer Group which aims to convert the masses to heed the calls of environmental conservation, ecotourism, and community development.

In partnership with the Department of Health’s Doctors to the Barrios (DTTBs), the C.O.R.E. created its Heroes on Wheels program to strengthen the support networks of communities in times of need with the use of proper outdoor equipment.

According to Tin Villaflor, C.O.R.E. Program Officer, the Heroes on Wheels program provides its beneficiaries with the appropriate outdoor gear and transportation mechanism to immediately reach inaccessible areas.
This time, ten bikes were distributed to ten esteemed local community doctors.

99% of Filipinos Suffer From Food Intolerance

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Reactions to certain foods are quite common. However, some reactions go unnoticed until certain abnormal manifestations occur – internally (physiological) or externally (physical, i.e. on skin).Where food ALLERGY has almost an immediate reaction, food INTOLERANCE, on the other hand, does not immediately manifest. Sometimes, it takes as much several months or as short as days for symptoms to be obvious.

According to Nutrition and Lifestyle Counselor Ginny Sinense-Marksl, RND, food intolerance often occurs in people who eat normal or even very common food substance (rice, egg, dairy, wheat) that they are highly sensitive to. These foods cause inflammations in their body that could manifest as allergy-like reactions such as diarrhea, bloating, stomach cramps and at times, skin rashes that almost never seem to subside. Also, it could be one of the major reasons why it is difficult to manage any weight problem.

Food intolerance may involve some or all the same symptoms as food allergies. “While food allergies are acute reactions to a particular food substance and can cause life-threatening symptoms, food intolerance is chronic and less severe but, nevertheless aggravating to optimum health,” said Marksl.

A number of reactions surface when a person is found to be intolerant on a specific food item. However, some people could still eat small amounts of food they are “intolerant” to without any immediate physiological or physical reaction.

Forbidden City: A Visit To the Largest City in China

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Forbidden City is the Chinese largest city of China and has a collection of very well preserved ancient buildings and largest palace complex across the world. It is called Forbidden City as it was off the limits for 500 years. The city is known as Palace Museum although majority of Chinese address it Gu Gong.

The Hall of Supreme Harmony is the largest and most important structure in Forbidden City. It was built in 15th century and restored in 17th century to be used for ceremonial occasions like birthday of emperor, coronations and nomination of the military leaders. There is Dragon Throne which has been richly decorated, inside Hall of Supreme Harmony. The emperor presided over the officials from here. Entire court was required to touch their forehead to floor nine times in presence of emperor. Hall of Middle Harmony, which is smaller, is behind Hall of Supreme Harmony and was used as transit lounge of emperor. He would rehearse his speeches here, have last-minute preparations and receive close ministers. Hall of Preserving Harmony is third hall that was used for the banquets and then for imperial examinations. There are no support pillars in the hall and has marble imperial carriageway weighing 250-tonne, carved with clouds and dragons. Visit China by availing the best discount using cleartrip coupons.

Tourists could enter using U-shaped Meridian Gate at south end of complex. This entrance was earlier meant only for use of emperor. Coming and going of imperials was indicated by sounding of bells and gongs. Lesser mortals made use of lesser gates. West gate was used by military and east gate by the civilians. From here the emperor reviewed armies, gave judgment on the prisoners, oversaw flogging of the troublesome ministers and announced calendar of New Year. Using Meridian Gate, you will reach Gate of Supreme Harmony. An audience of 100,000 could be held in this courtyard.

Be Safe When the Weather Turns Wild

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Safety is the best policy.

The Philippines is no stranger to the strongest and wildest typhoons that pass through the Pacific every year. Dealing with tropical storms, rains, and other weather disturbances is part and parcel of every Pinoy’s life beginning in May.

With the advent of the rainy season, motorists must prepare for the worst-case scenario when it comes to their vehicles. Vehicles take a lot of beating during the wet, wild, and dangerous rainy season, so cars, trucks, jeeps and vans must be in tip-top shape before they are ridden.

For Michelin Tires, safety is the No. 1 concern. Thus motorists must take heed of the following important advice.

1. Listen to weather reports. Check out newspapers, television, radio and the interneteveryday to have an idea about the weather. If it’s raining, look for alternative routes that are not susceptible to floods. If possible, postpone your trip and wait until the weather clears.

2. Check everything thoroughly.Look for leaks, broken lights, or dangling wires. Double check your radiator, engine oil, wheel alignment, and tire pressure. Always bring a bag or container with an umbrella, flashlight, car tools, and even a mini-radio. It always pays to be prepared in case of an emergency.

Charlotte Airs the Same Day as Japan on Animax Asia

Wazzup Pilipinas!

An original anime production by prolific writer Jun Maeda is premiering first and exclusively on Animax – Asia’s first 24-hour Japanese anime channel.

Renowned Japanese visual studio Key has come together with Progressive Animation (P.A.) Works for Charlotte, which will air on the same day as its Japan telecast on Animax Asia, in July. Boasting local subtitles including English, Bahasa Indonesia, Mandarin and Thai, the anime was written by Key’s co-founder Jun Maeda, who is also contributing to the musical score. The anime will also feature character designs by fellow Key colleague Na-Ge. The two had worked with the same producers on popular 2010 anime Angel Beats! and together, the dream team promises to conjure up the same magic in Charlotte.

Charlotte, rumoured to have been based on Maeda’s own early life, is set in an alternate world where a few children come into unusual superpowers upon puberty. One of the colouful characters is Jōjirō Takajyō, who can move so fast he appears to be teleporting. There’s also student singer Yusa Nishimori, who can communicate with the dead. The children are enrolled into Houshinomi Academy, which has its own student council for guiding those who encounter problems with their newfound abilities.

A Big Bravo for a Triumphant Preview of The Normal Heart

Wazzup Pilipinas!

HIV, usually labelled as God’s punishment upon homosexuals, is now infecting us at a rate of 22 people a day but is still largely ignored because it is looked upon as a “fringe” disease that affects only gay people.

What are we doing about it?

Commendable are the people behind the Actor's Actors Inc.'s The Necessary Theater for coming up with the critically acclaimed masterpiece such as activist Larry Kramer's The Normal Heart. Bart Guingona, it's director and lead actor, cannot deny that it is sensitive and timely material that is not easily accepted by the masses since many are still closeted and are fearful of coming put and be prosecuted.

Can love remain resilient even in the face of something as permanent as death? Should love be the one to initiate a strengthen effort to pursue our rights to receive immediate health care and solution from the government.

Do we deserve the engagement and cooperation of every journalist out there? Or is this disease still considered as marginalized to the community of queers, that it is forever downplayed.

SevenFriday Swiss Watches: Substance and Sophistication for Every Dapper Man

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We're sharing to you the official press release from SevenFriday fresh from the recent media event held at the SM Fashion Hall Megamall branch last June 30, 2015 where we had a chance to interview the founder, Daniel Niederer.

I'm still transcribing the interview which was so hard to comprehend because of the ambient noise during the event so it will just be released at a later time soon.

The Swiss watch brand is remarkably impressive in both form and function that it is a huge disappointment if you miss this one as a must have for every lifestyle trend follower. At a price of 84k as the most expensive, the brand is a lot more affordable than its few counterparts.

With 12 models to choose from for both men and women, there is bound to be a design that you will fall in love with.

Sincerely, I would have bought one already right there and then if only I had the budget. I may have to settle for the meantime with my current timepiece, and buy one of the SevenFriday's on the next pay time.

Daniel was so very accommodating, and looks really good even while wearing two watches. When asked if he regularly wears a pair, he jokingly said it's best when you want to sneak fast through airport security. Lol.

The two watches he was wearing had some difference in design and features, so why
not if you want to wear two at the same time.
