Wazzup Pilipinas!

Michelin claimed its 18th consecutive win at the Le Mans 24 Hours in France last week, bringing their total victories to 24 since the famous endurance race was organized in 1923.

The Porsche team, aided by Michelin’s competitive, consistent tires, dethroned defending champion Audi with a one-two finish by the No. 19 and No. 17 Porsche 919 Hybrids.

Nico Hülkenberg, Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy steered their Porsche sports-prototype racing vehicle to an emphatic victory, while the No. 17, led by Mark Webber, Brendon Hartley and Timo Bernhard finished second.

The German firm continues to be the most successful carmaker in Le Mans history.

Porsche Team also established a new track lap record for the 13.629 km circuit June 10. Neel Jani's time of 3m 16.887s (249kph) smashed the previous record which was posted in 2008 by Stéphane Sarrazin (Peugeot 908 HDI), now a member of the Toyota Racing line-up.

Carlo Vergara's Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady - The Repeat

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Anyone can be a hero. Anyone can be a SUPER hero. And most anything is possible, even the success of a crazy show such as Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady"- Carlo Vergara

Due to insistent public clamor, Manila’s newest theater group Dalanghita Productions, proudly brings back the highly-acclaimed “KUNG PAANO AKO NAGING LEADING LADY THE MUSICAL” in a move-over engagement beginning July 3 at Onstage, Greenbelt 1, Makati City.

This is the story of two sisters named MELY and VIVA who both yearn to fulfill their dreams. Their sibling relationship and rivalry becomes more complicated due to an unsettled past and a budding romance, all in the context of an ongoing war between the superhero and supervillain teams. Being a maid is tough enough, but when Mely lands a job under a group of superheroes, she steps up to the unique challenge for the sake of her family. The musical takes us through the journey of the characters as each tries to find his/her place in the world where superheroes and supervillains exist.

The comic book writer mentioned that "Kung Paano Ako Naging Leading Lady is a simple story of a woman who strives to make something of her life for the benefit of those she loves. It is a story of her sister as well, who believes that fate will somehow give her the opportunity to prove her worth."

Durables Versus Disposables

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Many homemakers, in their desire to save money and time, resort to using plastic bags and Styrofoam products as food containers. These are relatively cheap and do not need to be cleaned after use.

However, it is not advisable to use these disposable food containers for a number of reasons. First, these cheap items are made of flimsy material and are prone to breakage. You do not want to spill food on your bag and clothes, do you? It is better to use containers that can be sealed tightly and can be easily opened. Klio Food Keepers have an easy-to-open lid design that also allows secure fastening.

Second, you run the risk of having toxic chemicals leach into your food. Styrofoam leaches carcinogenic materials, especially when it comes into contact with hot food. On the other hand, Klio products are guaranteed safe for food storage. It is also microwave and freezer-safe, unlike some disposable food containers.

Gullible's Travels: Anong Klaseng Bloggers Kayo?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

There has been fake FB accounts posting fake events for bloggers. Unfortunately, many bloggers have been signing up, both veteran and newbies are victimized by this scumbag who has so much time in his wretched life that he wants to make fun out of bloggers especially those who are just so passionate in joining every event available.

What is so alarming is when other bloggers laugh at the ones who fall prey to these scammers. They would criticize and even create threads to talk behind the backs of the victims. Instead of cursing the scammer, they would humiliate the victims and say "Anong klaseng bloggers kayo" implying the bloggers who signed up could not easily sense that it was a scam, and will make them look greedy for every event out there.

Look at the signs they say, but AFAIK, some event organizers do not really reveal everything on their posts and details are only given to only those chosen. This is why there is a sign-up. Not everyone who signs up will be contacted and selected for the event.

Though it is true that bloggers also need to verify the identity of the event organizer, some bloggers would sign-up immediately before they ran out of slots. They get the details later because the most important right now is to get in.

This is why some bloggers would sign-up at multiple events even if they are all happening at the same time. Some bloggers do this so they can choose which one they deem better or worth their time. Though I don't really encourage such habits because the losing party here would be the event organizers. What would you feel if someone signed up at your event then changes his or her mind the last minute?

When Mothers Become Bloggers: Super-Powered But Still with a Weakness

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Some parents will surrender to consumerism in raising their children. It's a shame to see decent, scrupulous mothers and fathers in externally imposed crises of anxiety about doing the best for their kids. The greatest gift we can give our children is ourselves, with our strengths emphasized and our faults not hidden but, to a reasonable degree, controlled."

For a third world country like the Philippines, it's not enough to raise a family when the father is an average employee working for our companies that still has below minimum wage compensation for some of their rank and file. This is especially true for the contractuals or temps who came from agencies hired by the company.

This is probably why some mothers feel the need to find a source of extra income. Some would setup a variety or "sari-sari" store at their house, while others would also work for another 8 to 5 job. The smarter ones will find a way to take advantage of the Internet or social media. This gave birth to the Work-At-Home mothers who do online language tutorials, social media management, virtual assistance, etc. The most popular nowadays that keeps some mommies busy is blogging.

Now there are several types of mommy bloggers. One type would remain at home and blog about topics that were contracted via online. These are the ones who are sent product samples for reviews and write about their experience using the products. While there are some moms that attend events such as product launches, press conferences, block screenings, expos and summits, etc. These are the moms that go out of their way to leave their children under the care of housemaids, yayas or relatives so that they can earn a few more.

Exclusivity: Getting Across the Border

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We've featured him before, and we are thrilled to find out he has a new cover for us. There really is no stopping somebody as talented as Leo Ralph Villamayor. We are simply ecstatic to help support a fellow Filipino especially when the Philippines is now being recognized as the home of many outstanding performers.

You've seen Leo singing a cover of the Let It Go song from the Frozen animated movie of Disney, now he sings another song.

But we cannot show it to you right now until after a month where he was contracted exclusively for his video to be shown somewhere else.

It seems they recognized his potential to attract a significant audience so we need to wait a month before he is allowed to promote it at his own site, and others as well.

Which gets me thinking about "exclusivity" and when news becomes limited to be broadcasted by a single source.

We've seen headlines like "Exclusive" being flashed on the screens of a TV network when they report news that they claim they only have. This attracts more attention because it means they are the only source of the said information.
