Jade Hotel and Suites: A Special Valentine's Day Family Staycation

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I thought my Valentine's Day would be the typical dinner and movie date with the wife but luck seems to be always on my way recently. Valentine's Day for me and my wife, as well as my three children, was made even more special after we got an opportunity to have a family staycation at one of the hotels located in Makati.

I've been itching to try an overnight stay at the Jade Hotel and Suites since a few months ago after I learned the owner was a friend but it was only this February that I finally got to talk with the hotel manager. I was sort of so busy with my weekends since its the travel season and they would normally schedule the sponsored trips during weekends to accommodate those who are working during weekdays.

What made the opportunity more amazing was that the hotel was just a few steps away from the Media Resource Plaza building where the Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM radio station was located. It is where I would sometimes join in on the broadcast whenever I'm free. Unfortunately, the out-of-town travel, events and hotel reviews made me miss the Vigattin radio show which was scheduled every Saturday from 10 to 11 am. That Saturday was very convenient since I get to drop off my family at the hotel before showing up at the radio station, then easily walking back to the hotel to join my family for lunch.

Roberto Bonifacio's 'My World, My Emotions' Exhibit at Renaissance Art Gallery

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Roberto "Rob" Bonifacio recently concluded his first solo exhibition at the Renaissance Art Gallery of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong last February 13 until the19th. The exhibit was the illustrative execution of his written thesis entitled "A Person with Autism's Expression of His Perception of  Emotions: A Penomenological Study."

Rob is a graduating student of Fine Arts at Kalayaan College with art influences from  Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh and Picasso. Supported by his family, relatives, teachers, classmates and close friends, he considers himself as a surrealist and impressionist that uses pastels, watercolor, acrylic and oil in his artworks.

Seeing his works at the exhibit, you can sense that his favorite subjects are mostly his family. There were artworks representing his grandparents, father and other members of his family, including a portrait of his teacher who obviously made an impact on him.

The artworks, when displayed side-by-side together, form a very vibrant and colorful representation of his thinking. We can see a glimpse of how he sees the world through his paintings.

PTAA Travel Tour Expo 2015

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The new year is the start of the travel season once again. I'm betting most of us are all planning our very own travel itinerary for this year. Thus the Philippine Travel Agencies Association (PTAA) Travel and Tour Expo held last February 13 to 15 was a superb effort to help out those travel enthusiasts or vacationers to book their trip as early as February this year.

Lots of savings via discounted flight and packages from many airlines, hotels, travel agencies and tour providers were offered to the further convenience of our travellers. The long queues at every booth was an indication that the event was very successful and shows how eager people are on traveling especially the Filipinos.

Surprisingly, I've seen more people flocking the local or domestic destinations rather than the foreign countries. But that was only during the morning of the first day. I'm sure the foreign destinations had their equal share of patrons who lined up for travel towards countries like Malaysia, Thailand, Korea, Guam, Japan, Taiwan and even as far as Europe and Britain.

With over 844 booths composed of 327 exhibitors spread across 16,230 square meters exhibition floors of the SMX Convention Center, it is the biggest travel event ever. The Expo also holds merchandisers, food concessionaires and other travel-related companies.

InfinitePH: Going Beyond the Possibilities of Hotel Booking

Wazzup Pilipinas!

A friend of mine from Mindanao messaged me a few days ago on Facebook asking for hotel recommendations in Manila. She needed a place to stay for an overnight only since she was actually on her way to Palawan but needed to pass through first in Manila in the afternoon but fly again to Palawan the following day. She wanted a place to stay that's near the airport but affordable as well.

Since I'm living in Manila, I needed to Google first for preferable hotels before I could answer her since stock knowledge wasn't a big help because I'm more familiar with hotels outside Manila. I had to rush the search for hotels since she only messaged me the same day she was arriving in Manila. Wouldn't it have been easier, faster and more convenient if there was a mobile application that we could access through our smartphones that can help search hotels or transients matching our specific needs?

If I only knew back then that there's already an app called InfinitePH that allows you to find and book hotels, I would have recommended it to her so she could have quickly found a place to stay for the night that very same day. The Booking System of InfinitePH would be able to easily notify the user, the hotel representative and the admin of all transactions that would occur. The Hotel Listing would include any textual, audio or visual representation of the hotel within the application to give the users more information about the hotel to help them decide as well. This would include galleries, room descriptions, hotel "About Us" and others. The best of all features, the platform would only charge the commission that the application would have on the hotel.

Awesome Vacation Getaways near Metro Cebu

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Looking for a holiday destination with both fantastic sights and urban flair? You can’t go wrong with Cebu, a bustling metropolis with plenty of local attractions you can drive to. Others consider Manila as the place where every single vacation spot is just a drive away. While Cebu City proper comes with all the amenities a dyed-in-the-wool city slicker could ask for, nothing beats the pleasure of going out of town for some real rest and relaxation.

Here we’ve rounded up a handful of the coolest getaways near Cebu City, all of which you should make time for and check out on the next long weekend:
 Mactan Island

Some of the world’s top hotel and resort chains have planted their flags on Mactan Island, and for good reason. Located just across the Mactan Channel from Cebu City, Mactan Island is less than half an hour’s drive away via the Osmeña Bridge or the Marcelo-Fernan Bridge.

A majority of the island’s most attractive beaches and resorts are located up and down the west coast, and include the likes of the Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa, Movenpick Hotel, Crimson Resort & Spa, and Plantation Bay. Also recommended are watersport destinations such as Club Kontiki Beach Resort and Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark, both near Maribago Beach.

Chef Lau Under Fire In The Apartment Celebrity Edition

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Chef Rolando Laudico came under fire in the second episode of The Apartment: Celebrity Edition. with his team leader, Rima Fakih (Miss USA 2010) when a disagreement broke out regarding the division of labor amongst the team members. The show airs every Tuesday, 7PM on Star World in the Philippines.

A broken house

Laudicowas loudly berated by Fakih outside of the villas.Fakih exclaimed that Laudico was not following her instructions and were not communicating with the team with what was supposed to be accomplished for the design. More to the group’s struggles, the workers hired by the show who were there to assist the teams actually walked out on them. Host and judge, Jamie Durie, noted this incident during the design court.

The collapse of Team Nicole
After Patricia Knudsen’s elimination in the first episode, her team leader was distraught and thought that Ryan should’ve been eliminated in the competition. The second episode opened with Ryan Star waking up in their villa alone. The Apartment Host and Judge, Jamie Durie, entered the room and shared that he had spoken to Russo earlier and told Star that she had left the competition. Star was left with the decision to pick a team to join that Durie advised should be aligned with his design vision or aesthetics. He, then, joined and was welcomed in Team Xiao Wang.

Sunscreen and the City: Daylong’s Advocacy Towards Every Day Sun Protection

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It has been almost a year since Daylong first introduced its campaign for daily, cellular sun protection, advocating that sunscreen should be part of everyday skincare regimen. The trusted makers of Cetaphil launched Daylong to provide clinically-proven protection against the sun, all the way to the cellular and DNA level. With a state-of-the-art formula that has a uniquely light texture and a smooth finish, this Swiss brand successfully conveys its message for daily, deep, and complete solar defense.

While the whole city bustles in preparation for summertime, and for days of basking under the beautiful sun on some of the most exquisite local beaches, Daylong has been working quietly – preparing for something bigger.

Staying true to its commitment of caring for the skin, whether the sun is out or not, Daylong conducted a study to reveal that the sun exposure in the city has the same intensity as at the beach. Using sun sensors that can detect UV radiation, Daylong has shown that the UV radiation in the city of Manila reaches the same level as on the beaches of Boracay.

Mad World: Unravelling the Creative Genius

Wazzup Pilipinas!

One of PJMA’s (Philippine Junior Marketing Association) biggest event this year is #MADWORLD2015 having about 6500+ attendees. Bringing Filipino Student Marketeers together in one place , coming from different state universities and colleges here in the Philippines. (Kudos to the students from the North, Visayas and Mindanao)

It was to my surprise as I arrived at MOA-SMX, the massive line at the entrance at 10am. I understand how difficult it was for the organizers and the security to handle that much number. It may have taken time to accommodate everyone to their designated places, but it was worth the wait.

Being accommodated on my high heels by one of the organizers/members (Thanks Ralph Gonzales, @ralphgon) and meeting Karol Chee (@missykarol), Director for Marketing at Philippine Junior Marketing Association, I would like to say Congratulations!, for pulling of a successful event, Not only to them but the rest of the officers, members and even volunteers. Thank you also for the warm welcome.
