Entrepreneurs 101: Taking Advantage of Tourism Opportunities By Opening a Souvenir Shop

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Countless tourists flock to the Philippines every now and then to explore and experience what the nation has to offer. According to recent tourism statistics, the Philippines has successfully garnered more tourists than what is expected all throughout the first half of the year. This just means that our country has been doing pretty good in this sector. But what does this imply to the commerce industry?

Tourism is nonetheless a brilliant opportunity for money-making. If you come to think of it, foreigners—and even our fellow Filipino globetrotters—consider travelling as an avenue for trying out new things. They're obviously not only here to enjoy a day basking in our tropical sun. What they're looking for is the Filipino experience—the famous delicacies, sumptuous native dishes, unique activities, and other fun-filled Filipino stuff.

With such premise, we are able to conclude that tourism and business can go side-by-side. As of now, you are probably thinking of ways how you can take advantage of such lucrative opportunity. By all means, opening your own souvenir shop may be the best bet. This type of business—if managed and marketed properly—could prove to reap substantially good profits in the long run.

But how do you start?

Nancy Binay and the Nazareno

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I'm seeing a lot of this tweets supposedly from a Nancy Binay fake account making jokes about herself and linking it with the Nazareno theme depicting Nancy Binay as being confused by people for the Black Nazarene.

I get it. It's because the color of her skin is black like that of the Nazareno? Yeah!

The Binay's always get that kind of joke pertaining to their dark complexion, as if majority of the pure Filipinos are not dark in skin color. Well, maybe some of us are "brown monkeys" but a lot of us really appreciate the more light-colored skin influenced by our foreign neighbors.

Poor Binays being joked around all over the Internet with reference to their unfortunate Filipino skin color, and the rest of the Fil-Ams being praised and idolized for being so "Westernly" attractive.

Breakfast Magazine Features Ross Del Rosario of Wazzup Pilipinas

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It's finally out! Breakfast Magazine's year ender and starter (December - January 2014) issue!

Ross Del Rosario, founder of Wazzup Pilipinas - an online community blog awarded as one of the Top Ten Emerging Influential Blogs of 2013 and Most Outstanding Filipino Community Blog of 2013, is among those featured as guest writer for the said issue. Ross writes about the holiday feast offered by Diamond Hotel Philippines in an article entitled "Diamond Hotel's Delectable Christmas Feast: Delightful Dishes for a Festive December".
"I still remember the photo shoot we did on site with the help of by photographer Justin De Jesus, and the editors of Breakfast magazine, where we captured on film the remarkable food creations of the hotel. This was a few months before the actual release of the article. I imagined it takes a lot more dedication coming out with a magazine. Unlike blogs, a magazine and its feature articles takes a considerable amount of time to prepare with regards to writing the actual story, proofreading, processing the photos, and everything else that, honestly,  I am not really aware of."
