Student Exchange Program on Japanese Language Education

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Last November 12-15, 2013, we had a Student Exchange Program on Japanese Language Education. Some students from Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Syed Putra went to Philippines. We were very happy because we've got some new friends!

On our first day (November 12, 2013), we had a lesson about Daily Meals. After the lesson, we had a visitor session. Even though I was so shy, it was fun talking to our Malaysian friends because they are so friendly! We've got to know each other's favorite actor, song, color and many more. I have learned some Malaysian words from them! Cool! After the visitor session, we had a Cultural Exchange Program held at the Youth Development Center.

I have learned many things in this program. Sachiko-kuwano sensei of Japan Foundation Manila taught us many facts about Banana. We also had games about banana and had fun while making our posters of our restaurants which was the main ingredient would be the banana. Hmmm! Our restaurant's name is McKanan Kaliwah.

Cartoons Versus Anime: Which One is Better?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Which one is better? Cartoons or Anime? Lets take a look.

First of all, I would like to clear up the bias that animations are for kids only. Just because there aren’t physical actors, doesn’t mean that concepts, intellectuality or even maturity are sacrificed. As an example, I’ll use Death Note. This particular anime delves into the ethical dilemma of whether or not killing can ever be justified. It also involves a thick plot with characters that use, dare I say it, cognitive thought and intellectual inquiry to suit their causes. Does that sound childish? On the American end, cartoons such as Family Guy and Futurama are meant to appeal to adults through humor.

Anime and Cartoons are types of shows than can be watched by majority of children and some teenagers or adults. These two are animations that reflect two cultures. Anime reflects for Japanese culture while Cartoons reflect for American culture. That’s the reason why these two have their own differences. Anime and Cartoons are usually for viewer’s entertainment. Anime is an animation which originated from Japan and is now popular internationally. They say that it is more popular than Cartoons which originated from Americawhich is also known internationally. But majority of the viewers are saying that Anime is much better than Cartoons because of their differences.

For me, Anime is better 'cause of its natural and very great animation. Its like in a whole different level from anime. We'll see what will you decide which one is better. :)

Japanese Anime Dubbed in Tagalog : Better for Filipinos?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Is dubbing Japanese anime in Filipino better for us? I think, yes. Why? Because not most of us is capable of understanding and reading English dubs and subs. One example of an anime which is dubbed in Tagalog is "Bleach".

Bleach follows the story of a fifteen year old boy named Kurosaki Ichigo, which in the beginning has the skill of seeing spirits and ghosts. When a shinigami, named Rukia Kuchiki, has gone to the real world to protect it from Hollows, the spirits that didn't successfully ascended to the Soul Society. Bleach was translated in Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Tagalog.

We also have One Piece dubbed in Tagalog by GMA 7.

United in Laughter : A Christmas Stand Up Comedy Special from Comedy Manila and Rocklands Entertainment

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I met this stand up comedian at the Rob Schneider presscon and one-night show at Solaire Resorts and Casino in the Philippines. He did the hosting and front act for Rob along with other stand up comedians. What impressed me was the way he used his unfortunate little accident - a bleeding lip when it got hit by the microphone he struggled to pry loose from the microphone stand - to spice up his act and make it a little more interesting and real-life. Talk about a reality show!!!

Other performers would have felt the pain and stopped the show and probably asked for someone to take over while they cure themselves, but he was something else! Now, that is what I call a professional performer. He truly lived up to the saying that "The show must go on!"

There were two other stand up comedians as front act for Rob Schneider, and I am happy to say that all of these talents made us "laugh out loud!". Thus, I am very excited to bring you this great news.

Comedy Manila
and Rocklands Entertainment present: United in Laughter, A Christmas Stand Up Comedy Special on December 9 at Cinema 5, Greenbelt 3.

10 Reasons Why You Should Have Sex Everyday

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Sex is one of the most sensitive topics especially for the conservative Filipinos that have not been influenced by Western and European liberalization. Unlike other fast-progressing countries where people can immediately "sleep together" even after a first date, or just by mutual understanding, the people of the Philippines still is a bit shy when talking about their private sex life.

If you thought that the only benefit of sex was, well, pleasure, here's some interesting information for you.

The intimate act of lovemaking transcends beyond boundaries of just pure ecstasy. It was scientifically proven that making love is good for adults - but making love regularly is even better. Not only does it help you sleep well, relieve stress and burn calories, there are also several other reasons why you need to have sex more often.

1. It increases self-confidence - Sex and intimacy can boost your self-esteem and happiness. It’s not only a prescription for a healthy life, but a happy one. You would forever trade it with anything and everything else just to have it - with an attractive opposite sex. Getting laid regularly only means you're just too awesomely cool and great looking to pick up girls.

2. Promotes longevity - When one has an orgasm, a hormone called dehydroepiandrosterone is released. This improves immunity, repairs tissue and keeps the skin healthy. Men, who have at least two orgasms a week, live longer than men who have sex just once every few weeks.

3. Improves overall fitness - If you find going to the gym mundane or working out at home a task, here's another way to help you lose the flab and keep in shape. Regular sex will do wonders for your waistline. Half an hour of lovemaking burns more than 80 calories.

Friendship Knows No Limit

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Have you ever imagined a life without friends?

Most of us have friends. Friends that will always be there with us on our happiest and worst times. Friends are there to laugh and cry with us.
I too, have friends and the most valuable among them are my best friends.

They are one of the greatest gifts god has given me.

There are different kinds of people. We differ from each other but it won't matter. My best friends and I have more differences than similarities. We don't like the same food, color, movies, sports, etc. and not all of us loves anime or k-pop. We have different hobbies and personalities. We even have different tastes for men! But we get along anyway. :)

Well, this guy is the one I salute in every series I watched so far. (*THIS ARTICLE MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS*)

Pasig City Science High School welcomed the Malaysian visitors from Sekolah Menengah Sains Tuanku Syed Putra last November 11, 2013 (Monday) for a five-days student exchange program.

The students of III-Kelvin, the class where I am from, was there to personally welcome these visitors.

"Ohayou gozaimasu," meaning 'good morning' in nihongo was the expression we said when we first met them. We also waved our flaglets (Malaysian, Philippines, and Japan flag). They were all friendly and greeted us back.

The students from III-Joule were the one who toured the Malaysian students in our school. While our class prepared our gifts and dance presentation for the Culture Exchange Program.

Our first day with them, November 12, 2013, we were given the chance to interview the Malaysian students. We had a very funny and interesting conversation with them during the interview. After that, we changed into our national costume and proceeded to the YDC or Youth Development Center.

After showing off their skills in an open workout at the Resorts World Manila, four mixed martial arts (MMA) combatants who will figure in ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC) on Dec. 6 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena declared they are ready for any surprises that will be dished out by their respective opponents.
