Charice : Loud and Proud for "Chapter 10" Album

Wazzup Pilipinas!

International singing sensation Charice is loud and proud to share with the world her newest album under Star Records titled “Chapter 10.”

According to Charice, her ‘coming out’ also signaled the start of her musical liberation.

“When I was growing up I was ‘accompanied’ in my sleep up to my waking hour by Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Regine Velasquez and Lea Salonga,” she said. “Now, with the turn of events in my life, I listen more and more to Pink, Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake, among others.”

“My new CD marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life. It’s about being free, celebrating my own identity without inhibitions, and becoming strong despite my own limitations,” the world-class singer said. “It’s my take on becoming true to myself to be able to deliver a more honest and heartfelt music to the people who believe in me and my craft. Plus I owe it to God who also loves lesbians like me.”

Companionable Voices : Poetry from a Lost Generation

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The public is cordially invited to the launch of the book "Companionable Voices" highlighting five Filipino poets with their Poetry from a Lost Generation at 6 PM, Thursday, October 24, 2013 33rd Floor Lounge, Malayan Plaza Hotel ADB Ave. cor. Opal Rd., Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

The book features the works of Juan Jose Jolico Cuadra, Cesar Ruiz Aquino, Recah A. Trinidad, Erwin E. Castillo, and Wilfredo Pascua Sanchez. This folio of seventy five poems, in taste ranging from classic to contemporary, commemorates a longtime friendship begun in the 1960s among five largely neglected Filipino poets. It is a friendship that grew through the years into an imperfect commonality of means and minds, ultimately because — in their words — they all ate of the same fruit and drank from the same poisoned wells.

Cesar Ruiz Aquino, Recah A. Trinidad, Erwin E. Castillo, and Wilfredo Pascua Sanchez join with their recently departed friend Juan Jose Jobico Cuadra — to whom this volume is dedicated— in this dazzling, deeply moving hail and farewell.

Dulaang UP Presents Teatro Porvenir : Ang Kasaysayan ni Andres Bonifacio at Iba Pa sa Entablado

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In celebration of Andres Bonifacio’s sesquicentennial, Dulaang UP stages Teatro Porvenir, Ang Katangi-tanging Kasaysayan ni Andres Bonifacio, Macario Sakay at Aurelio Tolentino sa Entablado, a Palanca-winning play written by Tim Dacanay.

Teatro Porvenir is a re-imagining of the history of the Katipunan through an amalgamation of myth and literature, history and religion. The play highlights Bonifacio as artist- a facet of this valiant revolutionary that remains largely unknown to most people.

It all starts with a struggling moro-moro troupe in Tondo, Teatro Porvenir (Theater of Tomorrow). Its members, Aurelio Tolentino, Emilio Jacinto, Macario Sakay and the brothers Ciriaco, Procopio and Andres Bonifacio, try to introduce reforms in the komedya and senakulo.

Born into a time of foment, their art-making is informed by the subversive works of Jose Rizal and Marcelo del Pilar. The moro-moro players ultimately become members of the supreme council of the Katipunan and play out their vital roles in Philippine history.

DLSU Green Archers Wins Over UST Growling Tigers at the UAAP Season 76 Finals

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Words are not enough to describe the feelings that ran out all over the place when Animo! La Salle nipped UST in overtime to bag the UAAP crown...Lol!

When we saw the Teng Brothers (Jeron and Jeric) congratulating each other after the game, it was a sight to behold and I can't really stop myself from shedding a tear.  Who was I rooting for? You can make a wild guess, but the spirit was actually for the entire game and for both teams who gave their best and showed everyone out there that we are definitely the best! The epic battle between the University of Sto. Tomas (UST) Growling Tigers and De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers.

De La Salle University denied University of Santo Tomas’ shot at history as it reclaimed its basketball glory last Saturday night, October 12, at the UAAP Season 76 Finals held at the Mall of Asia Arena.

Teng led the Green Archers in foiling the Tigers’ bid to become the first fourth ranked team to win the championship and bested his older brother Jeric, had 25 points -12 in the pivotal fourth quarter - along with eight rebounds and six assists. He had 15 points in La Salle’s 72-73 game one defeat, then bounced back with 19 points in their second game’s win.
