Globe Business and Sutherland Renew Ties

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Business process outsourcing giant Sutherland Global Services recently renewed its collaboration with Globe Business, making the corporate and ICT arm of Globe as its primary Philippine provider for both wired and wireless connectivity services as well as co-location on the telecommunications company’s world-class and state-of-the-art MK2 data center.

Company officials from the US-based BPO confirmed that Globe Business has become its current primary circuit, effectively re-establishing ties forged between two industry prime movers. It has been a partnership built around mutual business confidence and technological reliability since the BPO’s first day of Philippine operations in 2005.

Sutherland’s Associate Vice President for Technology Michael Quiambao said that the importance of seamless connectivity to the BPO and its business cannot be overemphasized. “As far as our clients’ business metrics are concerned, we are bound to honor our commitments with them. Thanks to Globe Business, we strengthen our clients’ faith in us, and in so doing, we boost our credibility with them. We have entrusted our connectivity requirements to Globe Business as the major provider of internet services where most of our applications are routed.”

Lee Stay Curious Campaign

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Curiosity is a quality that is often associated with danger and mischief. But it is also a valuable skill that propels innovation, initiates breakthroughs and urges a person to keep on pushing and exploring, and in the process, discover new ideas, forge new paths.

The legendary and pioneering denim brand Lee recognizes the power of curiosity, and to celebrate the 100th year anniversary of its iconic Union-Alls, and the exclusive preview of two of its newest innovative product lines for Holiday 2013 – Lee Stretch Deluxe and Blue Label at the Lee Concept store, in Glorietta 2, Lee introduces five highly accomplished individuals, multi-hyphenates who best exemplify how curiosity leads to success – not just in one but in two or more fields.

Leeroy New is known for his work as a sculptor and fashion designer, and he would not strictly call himself any of the two. He explains, “I primarily trained in sculpture because I felt it would best equip me with the skills necessary to execute ideas that were not necessarily 2-dimensional.” The association, he believes, is entirely incidental. “As a natural progression from creating sculptures and defining spaces, I felt at ease with the idea of incorporating the human element into my practice, hence, the works that overlap with the intentions of fashion.”

Jean X and Why

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Stay Curious", Lee Jeans’ new campaign is an initiative for the inquisitive. With 124 years of authentic denim heritage, the brand's ability to stay hungry for the new puts them at the forefront of denim innovation. "Stay Curious", a plan of action and engagement is a push to have every unanswered question answered, to have the unfamiliar become more familiar—all by living through your favorite pair of Lee jeans.

"We need that feeling, the emotion and personal expression that for a brand like ours, is critically expressed through the fabric. Denim is intriguing and unique in that it can truly reflect the personality of the wearer - the little scrapes, scuff, tears and frays, the way it gets better with ages and over time becomes part of the person it clothes…’" Lee EMEA Head of Design Gerald Bultot explains.

Every pair of Lee Jeans becomes part of your personal history, living through experiences with you—like second skin. It will document and record your stories. It will become your past, your now and your new. While it certainly reminds you of moments in every stain, rip and wear, it'll also remind you of possibilities. Lee Jeans encourages the liberation of your passion for expression. Take it from the jean-ius himself: “The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing.”—Albert Einstein.

Make your individual denim documentaries speak, always STAY CURIOUS.

Despicable Them : An Open Letter to the Top-Notch Bloggers

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Here is the newbie blogger's advise to some of the top-notch and pro bloggers out there who feel they are the cream of the (coconut) crop:

Huwag po tayo masyadong (Let us not be) overbearing and feeling so responsible to educate, correct, and reprimand our fellow bloggers (both pros and newbies) whom you feel deserve a spanking on the butt. Are you the author of the book on proper bloggers' etiquette and writing style? Please do not act like our parents. I know you mean well, but your ways are just too off the edge and a means to provoke.

Shhh!!!! Keep quiet at huwag muna mag-react violently. Open your mind and try to finish this entire article first.

Marami rin po kasi kaming naririnig na bad tsismis or rumors against top bloggers that feel they are so "clean" and "perfect". But we do not make it a habit to rant online about it. Please realize that you are actually hurting the entire community by making others (of your own kind) look bad.

Seriously (but with fun), I believe everyone in the blogging community has their own unique way of expressing themselves. Kanya-kanyang style lang yan. Walang basagan ng trip!

2nd Laguna Blogging Summit: Social Revolutionist

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Get ready for another huge social media event soon brought to you by the same people who gave you the 1st Laguna Blogging Summit.

The 2nd Laguna Blogging Summit 2013 will be held this coming October 15 and 16 and will start at 8am to 5pm at the same venue where it was held last year. The Cultural Center of Laguna, located at the Municipality of Santa Cruz, the capital town of the province of Laguna under Governor Jeorge "ER" Ejercito, will play host once more to the 2nd run of the biggest blogging event in Laguna.

The 2nd Laguna Blogging Summit aims to make all Laguenos
aware and more educated about Social Media and Digital Marketing, and will also promote the Tourism of Laguna. The organizers are bringing experts and notable speakers who are highly successful in their respective fields and advocacy programs to share useful strategies and tips to an expected bigger audience.

"The theme this year is Social Revolutionist, very appropriate for what's happening today through the proliferation of social media that's now integrated with our everyday activities. People are not only using Social Media to promote their products or services or just to hook up with their friends, they are also using it for political campaigns, advocacies and even job hunting. Social Media revolution is happening and we can see like-minded individuals gathering to form groups with the same beliefs through the use of Social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn and further continuing it offline. There are so many professionals and advocacy groups right now who were formed from Facebook accounts and hugely benefiting from it. We are bringing these experts to Laguna and we are hoping that my fellow Laguenos will learn from them." According to Engr. Grace Bondad Nicolas, the lead organizer of this event.

It's More Fun in the Philippines Branding Campaign Wins Yomiuri Advertising Award

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Philippines continues to attract global attention, as the Department of Tourism’s It’s more fun in the Philippines branding campaign bags the Readers’ Choice for the “Fun” category of the Yomiuri Advertising Award 2013. The awarding ceremony was held on 14 June 2013 at the Prince Tower Hotel, Tokyo, Japan.

Started in 1984, the award was conceptualized with the goal of inviting the readers’ participation in the selection of winners. The award is composed of two main parts: (1) advertisements created by the readers and (2) advertisements selected by the readers. The success of the Department of Tourism’s (DOT) may partly be attributed to the power of social media, this being the launching pad and source of never-ending support. The ‘fun stuff’’ of the website has engaged browsers and supporters to contribute their own versions of the memes. Through the apps, some of the best products have been utilized as materials for above-the-line and below-the-line advertising.

“It may be beginner’s luck as this is the first time that the DOT has advertised in Yomiuri, one of Japan’s leading newspapers. We were told that the DOT is the only national tourism organization (NTO) recipient under this category which could mean one thing: we are undisputedly FUN,” DOT Tourism Attache to Tokyo Valentino Cabansag shared.
