Tempura and Donburi : Japanese Delicacies

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Japanese and Filipino cuisine differ in many ways. But, they have also similarities. Just like us, Japanese  has considered rice as the most important food in Japanese cuisine. Despite changes in eating patterns over the last few decades and slowly decreasing their rice consumption in the recent years, rice still remains the most important food for the Japanese.

Japanese cuisine spread widely in the Philippines. The effect of this was the establishments of Japanese restaurants here in the Philippines. One of the best Japanese restaurants here in the Philippines is the "Tempura Japanese Grill" restaurant.

Here's a photo of it:

One of the best delicacies of this restaurant was the Tempura. Tempura is a Japanese food that consists of seafood, vegetables, mushrooms, or meat coated with batter and deep fried. It has a light, but crispy texture, that may be seasoned with salt or dipped in a light sauce before eating.

Another one of a kind delicacy of this restaurant was their Donburi. Donburi is a bowl of plain cooked rice with some other food on top of it. This food is served at specialty restaurants, but they are also a common dish that can be found on all kinds of restaurant's menus.

I'm Shoe in Love: Find Your Perfect Pair! : It's The 3rd Annual Event

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The metro's biggest shoe sale is back! Come and join them on July 20-21, 2013 at The NBC Tent from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM for the 3rd Annual I'm Shoe in Love: Find Your Perfect Pair!

Wanting to add a twist to the usual bazaars that we do, we thought about creating an event that the whole family can enjoy equally. It was back in 2011 when the idea of a shoe bazaar came up.

Just as our personalities are different, our preference for footwear also varies. There's the trendy style maven who can always be found wearing the latest heels and platforms, there's the equally sartorial male whose shoe collection can put some women to shame, the girl-next-door who collects flats in all colors and styles, the hip mother who is now all about comfortable yet trendy "walking shoes", the active father who's always looking for the best bargains in rubber shoes and walking sandals, the tiny tot unknowingly being dressed by his or her parents but would rather run in those squeaky shoes, and the grandparents who insist that they have more than enough shoes but we still insist on getting new ones for them anyway -- but regardless of our preferences there's always a perfect pair for each one of us.

For interested concessionaires, send us an email at imshoeinlove@gmail.com. We are also open to food and beverage concessionaires!

MD Juan Enterprises : Proudly Filipino-Owned Jeep Business in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!

So are you aware that there are several types of jeeps aside from the jeepneys that we see on the roads everyday. Many of these jeeps are now considered collectibles as they were a great part of history. Earning names like the "MacGuyver", the "MacArthur" and other names I could not recall at this time, they are indeed fascinating machineries that made up the days of our grandfathers during their younger years.

Many have used jeeps for military functions and some have also used them for private use as a collection to show off or to use occasionally for special functions or to flaunt at car shows. If you put a pimped-up jeep side by side with even the most expensive sports car, I bet both will get special attention from the crowd.

But these jeeps are most probably considered "extinct" in the Philippines. It's a different news in other countries as there is even a Filipino-owned company that manufactures jeepney metal parts for export abroad.

We learned about the history and a lot of very interesting facts about jeeps when we visited the manufacturing plant of MD Juan Enterprises in Caloocan proudly owned by the Juan family with Rommel Juan being the over-all head of the business.

Despicable Me 2 Minion Madness at McDonald's

Wazzup Pilipinas!

“I’m lovin’ it"!

Not just eating at McDonald's, but also collecting the minions....It's been in the Philippines since June 19 and after only a few weeks of Despicable Me 2 minions craze, all McDonald's branches in the Philippines has apparently run out of the cutest toys ever partnered with the McDonald's Happy Meal.

Minion Madness has taken over McDonald’s around the world as Gru, the girls and his Minions are recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help deal with a powerful new super criminal. Despicable Me 2 minions toys were available together with the McDonalds Happy Meal.

Many of us in the Philippines are also requesting McDonald's to bring us new minions which are not available in our country. Minions are already out of stock in our country. We want McDonald's to bring us new variations of minions. Pretty please!!!
