William Elvin Launches Debut CD Album

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Theater actor - director, musical director and composer William Elvin has finally launched his debut CD album --- DisConTechNoThisContent: The Musicalienation of William Elvin.

In 2005, William decided to stop writing songs and playing music. His friends in the UST band/rock scene were being signed by major record labels. EMI Philippines was starting to position Hale to be one of the biggest rock acts of the 2000s. Sony BMG followed suit with the signing of Callalily. The two bands spearheaded the 'pogi-rock' movement (a term used with both marketing and derogatory intentions, as William remembers it) in mainstream Pinoy pop in the mid-2000s.

A few months later, rock bands were ruling the airwaves while WilIiam and his band The Barpins, was stuck playing in the now-defunct 'Mayric's', a small rock and roll bar along Espana, Manila. Frustrated, he promised to himself not to go back to that scene, and pursue a different artistic medium. That decision led William to the Theatre Arts program in the University of the Philippines.

Bantay Bellfry Tower : Who Said Old Isn't Beautiful

Belfry Beauty

Wazzup Pilipinas !

Climb up into the highest point of the belfry and watch-tower.

Bantay Belfry is a must see for travelers, not only because of its historical and cultural importance but also because of its perfect view of Vigan.

It is called the Bantay Belfry because it is located in the Bantay district of Vigan along the national highway. It was said to be the people’s watchtower, part of the city’s defense that helps in alerting it against possible enemies. It was built in 1591.

Aquaria: The Newest Beach Resort in Calatagan, Batangas

Wazzup Pilipinas !

I was very fortunate that I got invited at a special event held at Aquaria Beach Resort located in Playa Calatagan, Batangas.

Actually, I was never originally part of the event but I think I was destined to be there because everything else came into place. Would you believe I got the confirmation to join the event just one hour before the meetup? Hahaha

Yes, I quickly grabbed my bag and packed inside just the basic things like my wallet, camera, and some other necessities, and hurriedly stormed out of our home, ran towards the main street, and took a taxi cab. I was told that departure time from the meetup place was at 7:30 am so I exerted all efforts to be there. I did not even took a shower, anyway, we're going to the beach!

I smell really good! Lol!

Casita Ysabel : A Paradise Weekend Getaway in Mabini, Batangas

Wazzup Pilipinas !

My first impression of Casita Ysabel was immediately replaced with awe when I finally went in and saw the entirety of the resort. It was like a small paradise haven. So tranquil and peaceful, so solemn and beautiful, so damn great!

It was like a photographers delight as every corner of the place was perfect for picture taking. I brought with me two cameras and both had an 8 gb memory capacity on them and plus an extra 16 gb memory card in my bag's pocket, and another old 2 gb memory card as well tucked in another point shoot camera.....and believe me when I say, it was not enough. I had to take a lot of shots so I can forever capture the beauty of this paradise-like resort.

Highlight of My Summer School Break 2013

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Preparing for the college entrance tests was one of the highlights of my vacation. My friends and I decided to enroll ourselves at PTS Review Center. We were told that we are to attend six days of review classes and follow the M-W-F schedule that was given to us.

For six days, I have to wake up early, fix myself, and travel alone in the morning. My friends and I have to meet each other somewhere in Santolan. And when everybody has arrived, we will be heading to LRT Santolan Station, buy cards, ride the train, and walk (or run) until we reached our destination. It’s very tiring, but still, we enjoyed it! Lots of hilarious and as expected, unforgettable experiences happened on our way.

We are always late, but who cares? We are half of the class. Haha! The place was great, the teachers were cool, especially Sir Ros and Sir Enrico, and our classmates were also okay. Just like a typical class, our class is composed of very random students, there’s the funny one, the annoying brats, the nerds, the quiet one, etc.

The Philippine Transit App Challenge : I.T. Competition for Intelligent Trip-Planning by the DOTC

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The launch of the first national transport application (app) development competition led by the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) will be heldtomorrow, 2 July 2013, in partnership with the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) and the Cebu City Government.

In a move to maximize the conveniences made possible by modern technology in delivering its services to the people, the transport agency is opening its database on bus, train, and jeepney routes in Metro Manila, called the Philippine Transit Information Service (PTIS), to the public, via the Philippine Transit App Challenge.

The competition will be a three (3)-month long hack-at-home event – a new trend in the IT community which allows software developers to create apps at their own pace and on their own time, using the same datasets provided to them. Based on the international experience, hack-at-home events lead to the development of a broad spectrum of apps, many of which were not previously conceived and which give end-users a wide range of products to utilize and enjoy.
