Project Babysitting: My Summer 2013

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Summer is the only thing I’m looking forward to. It’s the time where I can be nocturnal, the time where homework don’t exist and the perfect time to give ourselves the vacation we all want. I stayed my first week in our house, with a very productive cycle, sleep-eat-sleep-computer-sleep.

Trust me, it’s not really fun. But after a few days, my uncle asked me if I can stay with them in a few days because my female cousin didn’t have any companions. And furthermore, my uncle was always out because he is some sort of mechanic. My stay in their house was great, they have a lot of food and we can stay up all night while watching a bunch of movies.

My mom decided that she wants me to go home already (I don’t know why). But after a week , my aunt on my father’s side decided to have a reunion with my cousin’s (which was really awesome). So I agreed, then we went to their house at Imus, Cavite. It was really good to see them, and most of all, I missed them so much, we haven’t seen each other for years. This was one of the most unforgettable memories we have captured.

Thule Launches Stylish and Elegant Cases and Bags in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas !

Last June 11, 2013, Thule Sweden launched their showcase of  Bags , Luggage, and Elegant Cases that is truly worthy of praises for its Style, Elegance, and Quality that is comparable to major brands that dominate the bags, luggage and cases industry.

I was truly amazed of such simple yet durable necessities when I represented Wazzup Pilipinas at the Thule launch held at the Vikings restaurant in North EDSA.

Thule cases and bags include backpacks, messenger bags, laptop sleeves, and duffel trolleys. Their kind of stuff is a major move and a step beyond the conservative thinking that you should be like the original for you to be successful or be known of.

e-Plus Tap to Pay Card Launch

Wazzup Pilipinas !!!

I represented Wazzup Pilipinas at the launching of the e-Plus Tap to Pay card last June 10, 2013 at the SMX functions rooms of SM Aura at the Bonifacio Global City in Tagig..

If Hong Kong has the Octopus Card, and Singapore has the EZ-Link Card, SM now has its own version for the Philippines by way of the e-PLUS (Tap to Pay). SM now provides the e-Plus as a new, convenient way to purchase products and services by introducing the e-Plus Tap to Pay stored value card.

The new system allows payment for transactions in most anchor tenants in SM shopping malls.

My Summer Staycation and Personal Blog

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Last summer, or even before that, I've already prepared how I'm going to make the most of my summer vacation. My parents already told us that we're not going anywhere that's synonymous to the word "paradise" because of their work this summer so I think it's proper to call it "summer staycation". I've established my own blog last January 1st, I have decided to put it up to express my thoughts/feelings/moods that I am currently having. I make sure that the posts that I'm publishing are quite "relatable" to my readers (if there are). Another reason why I've opt to build a blog is to resist boredom, like what I've said a while ago, my siblings and I will just be staying at our house and I don't get along with them that much so, my bestfriends last summer was my laptop, camera, and our aircon.

There comes the time that we've inflated our "kiddie pool" because my mom wants us to have a bonding time at the same time spend it inside our territory and that wasn't that bad, we had snacks and of course the pool even though it was just 3 feet high and 4 meters wide, that was the part that triggered some bonding moments among us.

Man of Steel Breaks All Time First Day Record !!!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

People have started calling MAN OF STEEL - "Epic," "Thrilling," and "Best Comic Book Movie"...as it hits an all-time first-day record with P69.52-M Box Office In The Philippines!

The Man of Steel Now Beats Iron Man 3 In Philippine Box Office! Congrats Warner Bros. Pictures (Philippines)!

OMG! This is it! This is what I am looking for in superhero films. Crazy story and fight scenes! Watching "Man of Steel" is like watching "Marvel's The Avengers" only difference is that only one guy doing the work of six. I will definitely buy the original DVD. I will watch it again tomorrow.

I grew up watching the Christopher Reeve movies and he inspired me to believe that men can fly...but the Man of Steel made me believe that being a hero is a decision! I would definitely recommend this to everyone and this would definitely be a part of my collection!

Bodyshots X 2013 Media Launch

Wazzup Pilipinas !!!

It was a very hot Sunday of June 9 when I attended the Bodyshots X 2013 Media Launch  to represent Wazzup Pilipinas. There were 30 contestants - 15 males and 15 females - to compete and  eventually a pair will  be selected as the grand winner for Body Shots X 2013.

Bodyshots X is undoubtedly the Philippines biggest model search as of today. It is being held to discover, train, launch and open opportunities for young aspiring fashion models.

Bodyshots is a word taken from the modeling jargon meaning photos of the model’s body. Founded in 1986, Bodyshots Model Search is the longest-running and most prestigious model competition in the Philippines. It is the brainchild of Fashion Designers Association of the Philippines.

Manila Dev Challenge : On the Hunt for Manila's Biggest Rockstar Developer!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

With operations in Makati, Freelancer.com has been a staunch advocate of IT studies and training in the Philippines, sponsoring and judging numerous events in the past year, including the WebGeek DevCup and AngelHack Manila. This year, in recognition of the growing developer community in the country, Freelancer.com will hold the Manila Dev Challenge. The event will be held online on July 20, 2013.

The contest, designed by the Freelancer.com Engineering Teams, will distinguish run of the mill coders from those with innate talent and the keenest of critical thinking and problem solving skills. Regional Director of Engineering, Adric Schreuders, has high expectations for the participants. “This competition is not for the faint of heart,” he intones. “Those who can rise to the challenge will be the real innovators of the field, in league with the top developers in the world. We’re not just looking for people who can code; we're looking for engineers who can drive the evolution of the industry.”

Join The Club and Tanya Markova Performs at the Gateway Park of Araneta Center

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Two great bands Join The Club and Tanya Markova performed right after the other at the Gateway Park of the Araneta Center on June 12 Independence Day night to celebrate freedom.

Dubbed as "Facebook Face Off : Freedom Rocks!", the free concert was a treat to the crowds who witnessed two great bands perform popular songs from the bands albums.

It was admirable of Araneta Center to hold a free concert for their patrons and consumers who frequent Araneta Center, and to even hold a Facebook giveaway to lucky followers of their Facebook page. The crowd were also given an opportunity to try out great food available at their food market stalls located at the Gateway Park.

Japan Summer Immersion Program : What I have Learned From the Trip

Wazzup Pilipinas!

DepEd and Japan Foundation Manila did not send us to this trip just to have fun, although we surely did. We had tasks to complete, assignments to finish, reports to write and present, and reflections to think about. In summary, I have learned and realized the following from my ten-day immersion in Japan:

1. Always be a good ambassador of your country. Do this by acting professionally, speaking well about your country and its people, and doing the very best that you can in everything you do. The Japanese people are known for being hardworking, and for excelling in whatever they lay their hands on. So because they give their best, they expect the same from us.

2. Always look at the time. Never be late. But don’t be too early either. We got lost in Osaka not because we were tardy but because we rode the train too early. In Japan, every second counts. You have to ride the train at the exact time stated in the schedule. Or else like us, you will end up elsewhere.

Japan: Day 8, 9 and 10 of the 10-Day Summer Immersion Program

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Let's continue with the last three days of our visit to Japan for our Summer Immersion Program sponsored by the Japan Foundation and the country of Japan as a whole.

Visiting Kitamoto High School on Day 8

Visiting Kitamoto High School was very enlightening for me. I learned that students had only one chance in pursuing their studies; so they had to give their very best in order to obtain a good high school education. Cooperative learning is highly emphasized, so they are very keen on partnering each student with someone whose grade or year level is higher. They call this the kouhai (lower year) and sempai (higher year).

In Japan, students are not publicly acknowledged in recognition programs unlike here in the Philippines where grades truly matter especially in scholarship programs at the university level. The students apply to the university of their choice, which they choose by its rank; unlike in our country where we try to determine which schools excel in the program or degree of our choice, then send our applications.

Japan : Day 5, 6 and 7 of the 10-Day Summer Immersion Program

Wazzup Pilipinas!

This post is all about day 5, 6 and 7 of our 10 Day Summer Immersion Program in Japan.

Riding the Shinkansen bound for Saitama on Day 5

For our fifth day in Japan, we had a very quick review session in the morning on what to do for our Tokyo field work and for our school visit. Then after lunch, we had to rush to the shinkansen or bullet train, that would take us to Saitama. We would spend the next four days at the Urawa Center. The shinkansen was indeed very fast, yet I felt that the ride was very smooth and even more stable than the train. We arrived at the Urawa Center early evening, and so we just ate dinner, and prepared for the activities the following day. Again, we were treated like royalty with such five-star accommodations.
