Wazzup Pilipinas!

“Creating the right climate for succession in family businesses is the most important thing a family should do,” said Dr. Dennis Jaffe who is set to speak in the 3rd Family Enterprise Excellence Conference (FEEC) on October 26 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Cebu City.

Jaffe said the conference is going to bring families together to consider how they are creating the next generation in their respective business. “What are they doing together and what is it they can do to create and build a creative, energized, inspired and entrepreneurial next generation?”

“This is something that families want and the challenge is that many times they want it but they don’t actually know what to do and how to do it,” said Jaffe.

Jaffe is a renowned international family business consultant with longstanding engagements with clients in Asia including the Philippines. He is also one of the founders of Family Firm Institute, a global network of thought-leaders in the field of family enterprise.

The event will also be graced by Francis Kong, renowned inspirational speaker and serial entrepreneur with extensive work experience in manufacturing and retail. Kong is also with the Inspire Leadership Consultancy which is one of the main sponsors of FEEC.

The conference is organized by Premier Family Business Consulting Inc. (PFBC), the only family business consulting firm in Southeast Asia providing holistic services that integrates the family and business system and champions family unity as a core value.

LPG Philippines Forum 2015: Video Blog

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Since this is my second year of being a media partner of the LPG Forum, I decided to make it more of a video blog and took several videos, aside from the photos, of the event. The two day forum was filled with several information on why we should be using LPG as one of the best alternative to other sources of fuel or power. It was surprising to know that the Philippines is still left behind in the use of the LPG because of misinformation that has caused fear among the consumers.

From the different talks given by the many speakers, you can easily distinguish the advantages of using LPG as compared to our traditional source of fuel for our vehicles but the rumors that spread during a few years ago halted the public's patronage due to health hazard concerns.

The first day was graced by the Department of Energy OIC Zenaida Monsada who delivered the keynote message. I was able to ask for a video message from her and was able to talk with her Executive Assistant to include me in their mailing list so they can send me their official press releases and announcements too. The second day had Representative Rey Umali delivering the keynote message. Both government officials speak highly of the LPG as a highly recommended power and fuel alternative and would like to encourage more people from the Philippines to make us of it for being among the safest and reliable.

There were several speakers from different specialties who participated in the forum and raised valuable points and insights regarding LPG. Some of them were even outraged why the country has not been very enthusiastic of the usage. It seems some agencies of the government had something to do with the delayed acceptance of many people of which details are too complicated to discuss here, and of course, we do not want to point fingers as to who may have caused all these obstacles.

E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit at Best Western Plus Antel Hotel

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The 7th DigitalFilipino E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit Manila 2015, also referred to as E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit, was an intensive 1-day educational event on e-commerce strategies that was held on August 29, 2015 at the Best Western Plus Antel Hotel, Makati Avenue, Makati City. The theme for this 7th edition was “E-Commerce for Economic Growth.”

It is also meant to celebrate the 16th year of DigitalFilipino.com blog. This 1-day event had e-commerce practitioners sharing insights and strategies on making e-commerce work and help grow your business.

I've seen a lot of familiar faces from which I've known them before from other companies. Now they've leveled up into someone more successful and eager to share their expertise for the greater good of the audience.

This is highly admirable and I do believe that when you share your blessings through any form you will be rewarded with greater success. We all know karma works both ways. If you do good (or bad), you'll also receive your just deserves.

The E-Commerce Entrepreneurs Summit had Miss Janette Toral and Genesis Reonico as moderators. It was the first time Genesis was moderating for the mother of E-Commerce. I must say he did a great job but he really needs to be more persistent with the audience to motivate them to participate in the discussion, or question and answer portion. Non-participation could mean several things: 1. They understood clearly 2, They were too shy to ask questions 3. They want the event to be over asap. Lol!

Prestigio: European Brand Now in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Is the European brand of mobile phones better than what we have right now? Well, they are now getting ready to conquer the Philippine market.

We are about to experience refinement in mobile technology as they unveiled their product last July 15, 2015 at their grand launch held at Society Lounge located at Atrium building of Makati city.

Everyone is fully aware that the Philippines is a smartphone country where the units outnumbers the population already since many have more than just one unit at hand. Like myself, I have more than two units of smartphones aside form the tablets that I'm using.

Jojit Alcazar, Managing Partner of Veracity Mobile, led the presentation of the Prestigio brand. Under the Veracity Synergy Solutions Inc. (VSSI) group, Veracity Mobile offers a great alternative to the growing mobile devices segment through its partnership with respected European brand, Prestigio marking  the Philippines as its 86th country served.

The brand started out by presenting 6 models of smartphones with prices ranging from Php 5,699 (lowest priced unit) to Php 13, 899 (highest priced unit). Models of different lifestyle outfits, came out one at a time to show off the different models, until they've finally competed on stage the initial products being offered by Veracity Mobile for the Prestigio brand.

Visit Davao Fun Sale and a Lot More Reasons to Visit Davao This 2015

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It's more fun in the Philippines! All 7,107 islands should be explored!

As much as we desire to discover new places beyond our country, we should prioritize touring our own Philippines. You would be surprised that there are a lot of scenic and culturally-rich areas you've never been to. Our country is teeming with spectacular natural resources that it is baffling why we are still trying to catch up with the rest of the world.

Another great place to visit is Davao. I've been there for so many times in the past since I was a former ICT Officer of a United Nations organization in the Philippines and we had an office in Davao. I was in charge of ICT or Information and Communications Technology so I was very much in demand during the first few months since we were still setting up our ICT infrastructure.

However, the last time I was there was way back 2008 when I left the organization and setup my own business. It would be fun to be back in Davao soon as I know there must be a lot of changes or development already.

Reconstruction of Memory Exhibit: Where Art Embraces Photography

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We are at an exceptional epoch, a photographic time wherein the world of art embraces photography as its own—without a shadow of a doubt--as never before. Images are now identified as 'art' and many photographers consider independent space, gallery and the museum as refuge to their work.

This photographic moment is where Michael Vincent Manalo (b. 1986) thrives, a young artist who dabbles in photography, photo-manipulation, and installation. Manalo has established an undeniable poetry through the use of nostalgia. For the artist, "imagined memories of the nostalgic, dreamlike environments, and altered realities" serve as templates for his work.

Galleria Duemila Inc. presents “Reconstruction of Memory” by Michael Vincent Manalo (b. 1986) a young artist who explores new pursuits in photography through photo-manipulation and installation.

Manalo has developed a distinct poetry in employing stock images, photo-manipulating applications, and photography—resulting into compelling narratives that strike a chord in the domain of human emotions, memory, and appropriating nostalgia.

The exhibition will feature his most recent works, all of which depicts a confident balance between austerity and beauty, loss and gain, and time and space.

Below are some samples of his works:

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Earthday Jam returns once again for another star-studded evening on April 25, 2014 filled with many of the young and veteran performers from the music industry collaborating in an effort to give tribute to the celebration of international Earthday.

The celebration will be held at the same venue where it happened last year - at the 9th Avenue corner 34th of Bonifacio Global City (BGC) starting at 7 pm. The event promises to be a merry music marathon that is still free for public viewing. I am sure it will again be flooded with individuals of all ages who will share the night with us in recognizing Earthday through the Earthday Jam 2014 celebration.

I was there covering the event last year and I have to say it was an impressive line-up of bands and singers, coupled with a few talks from NGOs and advocacy groups, and a spectacular presentation of talent and showmanship. I wanted to take photos and videos of all performances but they were simply numerous that my camera drained its battery just more than half-way the performances. Trust when I say that you'll have

At the press conference held at Gerry's Grill at Greenbelt 3, members of the media were presented with what to expect at the Earhday Jam for the year. From all the artists already identified, there will be a few more surprises to make up for an evening of non-stop music tripping and Earth-loving advocacy.
