Christian Bautista Kapit Album Launch

Christian Bautista has always been one of my favorite Filipino balladeers ever since he joined a singing competition on television. His voice is uniquely distinctive and he definitely has the good looks to match that would make him a perfect entertainer. Of course, we prefer a charming face to go with that soothing voice.

I'm sure girls are swooning over this guy for both his pleasing personality and voice. It is great news to know that after a few years he has again come out with a new album. We know he has the following to push for more album sales since who would get tired of hearing his songs? May it be a cover or original composition, Christian Bautista's music will always linger longer.

Congratulations to Christian for the Kapit album launch held on September 20 at Universal Records office at Universal Towers located in Quezon Avenue, Quezon City. The event was attended by several members of the media from traditional radio, TV and print to the new media composed of bloggers, vloggers and a lot more.

The album contains 12 songs with Kapit as the highlighted song. He jams with Morisette Amon, Eunice Jorge, Jessica Sanchez, Gabbi Garcia, and Jennylyn Mercado. It would have been fun if one or two of these ladies were there at the album launch too but it was mentioned that he would also have another album launch cum concert happening at the Music Museum on September 29 where fans would get a free album out of the Php500 ticket. That's actually a great deal already since the album already cost Php300 each making the concert a big bonus for only at Php200.

Mine-Mouth Power Plant to Rise In Antique

Wazzup Pilipinas!

To ensure the acceleration of total electrification of the country, the Department of Energy (DOE) and the Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SMPC) made a pact to facilitate the development of a mine-mouth power plant in the province of Antique.

DOE Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi together with SMPC’s President and Chief Operating Officer Victor A. Consunji and Chairman and CEO Isidro A. Consunji signed on Monday, August 14, the Memorandum of Understanding for the said project.

The signing was witnessed by National Power Corporation President Pio J. Benavidez, National Transmission Corporation President Atty. Melvin Matibag, Oriental Mindoro Electric Cooperative General Manager Patrocinio M. Panagsagan, Jr. and Occidental Mindoro Electric Cooperative General Manager Alfred A. Dantis.

“Offering a rightful ‘diskarte’ to our energy needs, we assisted the development of a mine-mouth coal-fired power plant or a power plant using indigenous coal as fuel to address the growth in the baseload demand and required reserves of Semirara Island along with the other neighboring islands and provinces,” Cusi said during the MOU signing event.

According to Cusi, SMPC will construct an initial aggregate 50 megawatt mine-mouth plant and TRANSCO will enable the construction of the transmission lines.

“It will provide reliable, secured and much more affordable power to Occidental and Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque and Romblon, and even Palawan, which already signified interest,” Cusi cited.

The DOE will endorse the power project as an Energy Project of National Significance under Executive Order No. 30 issued by President Rodrigo Duterte last June.

Moreover, the project will form part of the annually updated Philippine Energy Plan and Power Development Plan.

“What we are doing is creating solutions for our perennial energy problems in the island provinces," Cusi expressed.

“How can our children in the islands study if they don’t have reliable electricity or even little benefits such as being able to watch educational TV show or have a computer for academic purposes?"

Cusi added, “Consistent with our E-Power Mo! campaign, we want to empower our kababayan in the islands by giving them secured electricity."

In 1977, the DOE issued the Coal Operating Contract No. 5 to SMPC for a coal mining project in Semirara Island in the Municipality of Caluya, Antique.

Energy Smart Kids Reach 455

Wazzup Pilipinas!
The Department of Energy (DOE) taught 50 more grade school students on how to use energy efficiently on Tuesdaybringing to 455 the number of its Energy Smart Kids.

The DOE Consumer Welfare and Promotion Office (CWPO) staff conducted the energy briefing for Grades V and VI students of Cembo Elementary School in Makati City at the DOE Headquarters in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. The students were accompanied by their science coordinator, Jeanne L. Angcaya, and Grade V teacher, Michael Madueño.

“As part of the E-Power Mo! Campaign, we are more than committed to educate our youngsters to empower them so they’ll be able to discern the relevance of energy in their daily lives,” DOE Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi said at the workshop.

“We have to inculcate the significance of energy to these children as early as possible to enable us to develop their energy consciousness and become part of our own army who can rally for efficient use of energy, among other energy aspirations that we have,” Cusi said.

DOE-CWPO Head Helen B. Arias introduced the Energy Smart Kids Program and how DOE endeavors to make students “energy smart” by exposing them to new situations, new faces and true-to-life energy applications.

The students were oriented on basic electricity concepts and household energy conservation tips as discussed by Electric Power Industry Management Bureau Supervising Science Research Specialist Engr. Eduardo B. Fernandez and CWPO Senior Science Research Specialist Norita C. Froilan, respectively.

Moreover, engineers from the Renewable Energy Management Bureau highlighted the potentials of renewable energy. Chief Science Research Specialist Fortunato S. Sibayan explained the principles of solar and wind energy; Science Research Specialist II (SRS II) Maria Adeline L. Pagauitan discussed the sources of biomass and how they are transformed to produce electricity; SRS II Jeffrey Andal described the geologic settings of geothermal systems; and SRS II Raymond L. Samson expounded on how water is used to generate electricity.

As take-home exercises, students were also asked to work on "Who Left the Lights on" by using logic to determine who is the culprit among the names mentioned in the short story; and on the "Energy Waste Coloring Page", which directs the students to encircle all examples of energy being wasted in the given house configuration.

As a tradition since its inception in 2016, the half-day educational program ended with the Pledge of Commitment branding the students as “Energy Cost Busters” to apply their newly acquired learning on energy in their day to day living.

Martin Nguyen is New One World Featherweight Champion

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The largest sports media property in Asian history, ONE Championship™ (ONE), once again electrified the iconic Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with another evening of authentic world-class martial arts action. ONE: QUEST FOR GREATNESS delivered a series of compelling bouts, performed by the absolute best in local and international martial arts talent. In the main event, Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen shocked the world by stopping Marat “Cobra” Gafurov in their rematch to become the new ONE Featherweight World Champion.

In the main event of ONE: QUEST FOR GREATNESS, Martin “The Situ-Asian” Nguyen of Australia completed his journey through ONE Championship’s featherweight ranks by upsetting previously-unbeaten Russian champion Marat “Cobra” Gafurov via knockout within two rounds to clinch the highly-coveted ONE Featherweight World Championship. Gafurov dominated the first round with his magnificent grappling arsenal, but Nguyen found his groove in the second frame as he tore apart his Russian foe with his striking. Recognizing an opening, Nguyen countered Gafurov’s jab with an overhand right that knocked out the now former champion at the center of the ONE Championship cage. Nguyen’s remarkable conquest of Gafurov earned him the “GoDaddy Knockout of the Night” award.

Martin Nguyen, newly crowned ONE Featherweight World Champion, stated: “I just want to dedicate this fight, not only to Malaysia for being so welcoming and having such a beautiful country. This is for my dad. He was my inspiration for the whole camp when I mentally broke. (He and) the boys kept me together. I’ve got a deadly overhand right, but it’s not my only weapon. Thank you to Marat [Gafurov] for giving me the opportunity.”

In the co-main event of the evening, former world title challenger Ev “E.T.” Ting of Malaysia placed his name back in the winner’s column by overwhelming Japanese veteran and former ONE Welterweight World Champion Nobutatsu Suzuki to win by devastating technical knockout. From the opening bell, Ting paced himself well, keeping Suzuki at range with his accurate striking before executing the end sequence. After staggering Suzuki with a combination, Ting swarmed his opponent to score the referee stoppage.

22-year-old Agilan “The Alligator” Thani of Malaysia authored one of the most dominant performances of the night, placing himself back on the winning track with a unanimous decision victory over Sherif “The Shark” Mohamed of Egypt. Showing off new skills and techniques that he learned from training with the world-famous Team Quest, Thani swamped Mohamed with his wrestling while stifling his opponent with submission attempts. The former world title challenger finished the three-round welterweight contest on a strong note, delivering crisp ground strikes to the delight of his roaring countrymen.

Filipino knockout artist Kevin “The Silencer” Belingon completed yet another scintillating finish, his second in a row, by defeating Australian submission specialist Reece “Lightning” McLaren by knockout. Belingon finished the job in just 62 seconds, dropping his Australian opponent with a hard right straight before punctuating with follow-up strikes on the ground to compel referee Olivier Coste to step in and halt the contest. The revered Team Lakay veteran recorded his seventh knockout win as a professional with the impressive triumph over McLaren.

In a clash of high-caliber flyweights, Malaysia’s Gianni Subba captured a hard-earned victory in front of a jubilant hometown crowd by routing Japan’s Riku “The Outsider” Shibuya. Subba showcased his pinpoint accurate striking early on, peppering Shibuya with stinging right hands and spinning back-kicks in the first round. Although Shibuya easily converted his takedown attempts in the succeeding rounds to avoid striking exchanges, Subba kept himself active on the canvas, fishing for submissions while landing the more telling blows. In the end, Subba’s efforts were rewarded with a unanimous decision.

“Mighty” May Ooi of Singapore scored a major victory in her ONE Championship debut by submitting Malaysian female martial arts superstar Ann “Athena” Osman in the first round. After surviving a huge right hand from Osman, Ooi took matters to the canvas, where she maneuvered her cage counterpart with ease courtesy of her impeccable ground game. The 41-year-old Singaporean executed a flawless transition into a rear-naked choke that left Osman no choice but to tap out.

Former ONE Strawweight World Champion Dejdamrong Sor Amnuaysirichoke of Thailand brushed off a lackluster start to topple Robin “The Ilonggo” Catalan of the Philippines via second-round technical knockout. Showcasing tremendous power with every strike and drawing cheers from the crowd after each landed blow, Dejdamrong’s thunderous knees proved too much for Catalan as the Filipino lost his footing, forcing the referee to wave it off and award the victory to the celebrated Thai kickboxer.

Christian “The Warrior” Lee of Singapore exhibited stellar form, proving himself a top featherweight contender in ONE Championship by scoring an impressive submission over Malaysia’s Keanu Subba. Both highly-touted prospects started out aggressively, but it was Lee who showed a more capable set of grappling skills. Lee spun a web of crafty grappling to overwhelm Subba as the 19-year-old Singaporean standout was able to get the submission finish in the third round, making Subba tap from a wrenching armbar.

Emilio “The Honey Badger” Urrutia of the United States made a triumphant promotional debut in ONE Championship by edging out Team Lakay stalwart Edward “The Ferocious” Kelly of the Philippines in their three-round featherweight encounter. Urrutia relied on his solid ground game to pacify his Filipino opponent’s firepower in the stand-up trade, wearing down Kelly and steering him to a decisive victory by way of unanimous decision.

Kicking off ONE: QUEST FOR GREATNESS was a strawweight encounter between wushu practitioner Rene Catalan of the Philippines and Chinese grappling prodigy Bu Huo You Ga. After dropping his opponent with a clean left straight in first round, Catalan secured top control and went to work. With a dominant top game, Catalan notched his third straight victory, defeating Bu Huo as all three judges saw the bout in favor of Catalan to win by unanimous decision.

DOTr Commends Airport Cop Who Assisted Distressed OFW

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) today commended Airport Police Officer Joebert Besonia who helped an OFW reach her flight last August 11 at the NAIA Terminal 3.

DOTr Undersecretary for Aviation and Airports Manuel Antonio L. Tamayo expressed the DOTr's utmost gratitude to Besonia for going out of his way to assist Mary Jane Abalos, an OFW from Bahrain.

“The action of Airport Police Officer Besonia is worth being emulated by other airport personnel and civil servants. This only proves that there are still government servants who are dedicated to their sworn duties,” Tamayo said.

Usec. Tamayo also commended Manila International Airports Authority (MIAA) General Manager Ed Monreal for being able to push positive reforms at the NAIA.

"The act of Besonio is a symbol of the kind of training and values that GM Ed Monreal imparted to MIAA staff," he said.

Last 11 August 2017, Abalos landed at the wrong terminal and did not know how to get to NAIA Terminal 3 without missing her flight. Besonia, upon seeing the distressed OFW, hurriedly offered assistance, informing Abalos that there is an airport loop shuttle bus that can bring her to NAIA Terminal 3.

However, Abalos told Besonia that she had no more Philippine peso to pay for the bus fare. Without hesitation, the airport police officer willingly gave PhP20 to pay for her fare.

Besonia, 27, joined the Manila International Airport Authority Police Department (APD) in 8 October 2014 and is a member of APD Batch ’14.

Millennials Need More Than Just a Smartphone

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Meet the new Infinix smartphones that allows you to take charge of your life

Millennials know what they want when it comes to smartphones. These highly-digital individuals no longer choose their device solely on looks. Nowadays, what drives their choice is whether the smartphone allows them to capture the moment when that moment is at hand. For these individuals, it is a device that allows them to take charge of the moment.

Infinix Mobility, builders of cutting-edge technology and fashionably designed and dynamic mobile devices, integrated practical innovations into its latest Note Series offerings. With the new Infinix Note4 and Note4 Pro, finally, Millennials now have a set of mobile devices that put them at the center of its innovative features.

"Millennials are the top smartphone users. Despite this fact, not all smartphones are made to complement the kind of lifestyle that they lead. As such, our new Note4 and Note4 Pro are crafted, especially, to give them all the efficiency and convenience they need from their smartphones as they tend to all their adventures,” Marcia Sun, Regional Manager of Infinix Southeast Asia.

The new Note4 and Note4 Pro boast of their state-of-the-art specs and features that are tailored while paying attention to the role that they play to empowering the lives of their users.

Big battery life

Millennials are often troubled by battery life limitations. In many cases, this problem takes a toll, especially that most of their activities require for their device to have a tremendous battery capacity.

For instance, young travelers need an efficient battery to capture photos and videos of their every adventure. Bloggers, on the other hand, need a long battery life to share stories on their social media and to always stay connected. Same goes with online gamers, who need just the right power and time to win their battles.

Taking the big battery life DNA of the Infinix Note series, Note4 is equipped with 4300mAh large battery while Note4 Pro with 4500 mAh, as supported by XPower. This technology maximizes the smartphones’ standby time, offering a two-day power capacity for normal usage and one and a half days for intensive use.

The smartphones also carry a fast battery charging technology. Based in their laboratory test, this innovative feature allows the device to charge 45 percent in just 30 minutes. In addition, it also enables a 250-minute phone call or six-hour offline music listening with just five-minute charge.

Sleek design and dynamic display

Millennials want individuality. As they always seek out things that make them different, they also want their unique character to radiate even on the gadgets that they use. That is why Infinix Note4 and Note4 Pro merge different elements to introduce both aesthetic and superiority in its design. These smartphones have a metal print back body that creates an exciting, thorough, and sleek finish—all furnished to complement different styles and fashion.

Meanwhile, the smartphones also have the newest Sharp 5.7-inch display with high color gamut. This feature reaches an 85 percent NTSC, a global quality standard index. It is also equipped with a 1300 (TBD) contrast rate and luminance, exceeding 500cd/m2 which together makes the screen unbelievably colorful, clear and dynamic.

Powerful Camera

For the connected and super-sharing generation, photos speak more than anything else. As such, enabling them with the power to capture their best moments clearly is integral. Now, taking Selfies is made even brighter and clearer through its excellent 13MP main camera and Dual LED flash. The 1.4μm 8MP front camera combines the latest selfie filters to make all of your selfies truly stunning.

Versatile Touch and Feel

When it comes to security, Millennials want a feature that can provide both protection and convenience. With the latest version of Infinix Note series, these elements are placed intelligently right at the user’s fingertips. By scanning their fingerprint to enable its smart Fingerprint key, they can now disregard complicated passwords while providing secure unlocking and easier privacy control of the applications.

This technology also introduces an upgraded Fingerprint function that adds viewing of photo libraries, voice recording, and customizing quick access to apps through different finger input.

Great user experience

To top it all off, the NOTE4 and Note4 Pro is also armed with octa-core chipset that gives the best experiences in gaming, streaming, or surfing the internet. 3GB RAM delivers enjoyable and smooth performance, and up-to 128GB external memory provides an excellent overall user experience.

This feature is matched with many innovative and interesting capabilities based on Android N. It has the Multi-Windows, which means that it can simultaneously process two applications using a split-screen view.

Infinix Note4 Pro also comes with a stylus called Xpen, which provides a finer control of the user interface as compared to using fingers. It also allows users to input handwritten notes and even draw some doodles.

The new Infinix Note4 and Note4 Pro are not just a smartphone that delivers what everybody wants. They are crafted to exceed expectations and to provide the Millennials with what they truly deserve. As it combines both efficiency and reliability, these mobile devices allow the young and adventurous generation to take charge of their lives.

Infinix Note4 is now available at Lazada Philippines for PhP8,999 only, while the Infinix Note4 Pro will be launched soon.

SAP Calls for Public and Private Sector Organisations in the Philippines to Harness the Power of Data

Wazzup Pilipinas!

SAP SE said it has harnessed its digital core, bold technologies of the future and its expertise in ERP to help customers make everything digital, programmable and smarter. This is part of the company’s overall strategy to drive its innovation agenda and support customers’ digital transformation and journey to the cloud through its portfolio of solutions.

“As governments and businesses work towards a digitally-enabled ASEAN as outlined by the ASEAN ICT Masterplan 2020, we see plenty of opportunities for organizations from the public and private sectors alike to harness the power of data. In the digital economy today, data is the new gold for digital enterprises. SAP allows organizations to act instantly through real-time, data-driven insights to deliver delightful, meaningful experiences to their customers, employees, suppliers and partners,” said Claus Andresen, President and Managing Director, SAP Southeast Asia.

The ASEAN ICT Masterplan (AIM) 2020 was formulated and announced by telecommunications and IT ministers from ASEAN member states in November 2015 during the 15th ASEAN Telecommunications and Information Technology Ministers Meeting in Vietnam. The five-year plan provides guidelines governments and businesses to drive the digital economy in ASEAN from 2016 to 2020.

In the Philippines, the government has set forward a “Philippine Digital Strategy” (PDS), a nationwide digital roadmap as outlined by the Department of Information and Communications Technology. The vision of the PDS is to move the Philippines towards being “a digitally empowered, innovative, globally competitive and prosperous society where everyone has reliable, affordable and secure information access in the Philippines”. Under this roadmap, the government is calling upon the private sector and civil society to partner with the government in developing the country in all the elements of ICT.

According to IDC, organizations that capitalize and analyze all relevant data and deliver actionable information could achieve an extra $430 billion (on a worldwide basis) in productivity benefits over their less analytically oriented peers by 2020. "As more organizations in South East Asia become digitally-connected, they cannot escape this reality. The increasing volume and detail of information captured by enterprises, the rise of multimedia, social media, and the Internet of Things (IoT) will fuel exponential growth in data for the foreseeable future. Governments and businesses alike will need to be ready to leverage information and turn them into a key premise of competition, supporting new influxes of efficiency development, advancement, and customer surplus," says Chwee Kan Chua, Global Research Director, BDA and Cognitive/AI.

DOTr-LTFRB Launches PUV Drivers' Academy

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In an effort to further professionalize the public transport sector, the Department of Transportation (DOTr), through the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), today launched the PUV Drivers’ Academy at the LTFRB main office in Quezon City.

Transportation Undersecretary for Road Transport Thomas Orbos said that DOTr Secretary Arthur Tugade directed the establishment of the Drivers' Academy to provide PUV drivers with seminars and trainings to re-familiarize them with basic road safety, driving courtesy, and traffic rules and regulations.

“Secretary Tugade aims for this Drivers' Academy to become a very good venue for PUV drivers to be reminded of the basic traffic rules and regulations. But, this time they should learn it by heart as thousands of public transport commuters depend on them,” Orbos said.

He said it is imperative that all PUV drivers follow basic road rules and know the various traffic signs to be able to bring their passengers to their respective destinations safely.

“We have to make sure that all PUV drivers on the road know these traffic regulations in order to avoid accidents, and to also ease the traffic situation on our thoroughfares,” Orbos said.

According to the LTFRB, around 100 PUV drivers participated in the initial training seminar, where they will be lectured on basic road safety, driving courtesy, traffic rules and regulations, and re-acquaint them on the various traffic and directional signs.

Certificates of completion will be given to PUV drivers who would undergo and finish the one day training seminar conducted by instructors and resource persons from the LTFRB.

LTFRB will be requiring PUV drivers to present or submit the certificate for the renewal of their licenses and franchises

The seminar training will be replicated in LTFRB regional offices nationwide.

Didi Chuxing is the world’s largest comprehensive one-stop mobile transportation platform which offers a full range of mobile tech-based mobility options for over 300 million users across 400 Chinese cities. Meanwhile, I-Fitness leads in fitness curriculum operations research and development in China, which is devoted to building the best fitness market operation upgrade platform in the country with more than ten independent research and development courses.

Furthermore, TAT is the first organization in Thailand to be specifically responsible for the promotion of tourism. TAT supplies information and data on tourist areas to the public, publicizes Thailand with the intention of encouraging both Thai and international tourists to travel in and around Thailand, conducts studies to set development plans for tourist destinations, and cooperates with and supports the production and development of personnel in the field of tourism.

Sityodtong added: "I am thrilled to announce this partnership with Didi Chuxing, I-Fitness, and TAT as our partnership signifies another incredible moment for martial arts in Asia and ONE Championship. As a lead up to the biggest martial arts event in Shanghai, China on 2 September, ONE Championship will roll out a massive campaign across all media platforms throughout the country.”

A former NCAA Division I All-American, Ben “Funky” Askren of the United States is a collegiate wrestling legend and a US Olympian who represented the nation at the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. He is universally recognized as one of the finest martial artists in the world today. Askren joined ONE Championship in 2014, winning the ONE Welterweight World Championship in just his second bout. Askren has since successfully defended the title twice, including his most recent victory, a first-round submission of young Malaysian star Agilan Thani in May. Sporting an unblemished 16-0 professional record, Askren seeks to continue his reign as champion, this time against Zebaztian Kadestam.

Zebaztian “The Bandit” Kadestam of Sweden holds an outstanding professional record of 9-3, and is a tremendous competitor with a wide array of striking and grappling techniques. Seven of his nine career victories have come by way of knockout. Kadestam made a successful ONE Championship debut last May when he defeated Luis Santos, upsetting the top welterweight contender via a come-from-behind third-round knockout. Kadestam’s resounding victory quickly earned him a title opportunity, as he is now booked to face the toughest opponent of his career in Ben Askren.

41-year-old Narantungalag Jadambaa of Ulaangom, Mongolia, is one of the top talents in ONE Championship’s deep featherweight division. At 12 wins and five losses, Jadambaa has faced the biggest names in Asian martial arts and has posted wins over notable ONE Championship stars Kotetsu Boku and Eric Kelly. Featuring incredible strength, durability and skill, Jadambaa is recognized among the very best in the world, having been the former ONE Featherweight World Champion. In his most recent bout, Jadambaa fell just short of victory in an epic rematch with reigning champion Marat Gafurov. Next, he faces Japanese grappler Tetsuya Yamada.

27-year-old Tetsuya Yamada of Kanigawa, Japan, is a promising young martial artist with a distinct ability to seek out highlight-reel stoppages. He made his ONE Championship debut in January of 2016 in an extremely high-level wrestling showdown against Eduard Folayang of the Philippines. A seasoned grappler, 14 of Yamada’s 18 career victories have come by spectacular finish, including six submissions. After a brief stint in other promotions, Yamada returns to the ONE Championship cage to take on former ONE Featherweight World Champion Narantungalag Jadambaa.

Chinese bantamweight contender Miao Li Tao is set to make his ONE Championship promotional debut against 23-year-old Liu De Li Ri Ge Hu. The two competitors are set to do battle at ONE CHAMPIONSHIP SHANGHAI in front of a packed stadium filled to the rafters with their hometown fans. Miao, who represents the Fighting Brothers Gym in Beijing, is a Sanda and boxing practitioner while Liu De Li, who represents Long Yun MMA in Harbin, specializes in Mongolian wrestling.

Beijing-based former professional boxer Xu Chun Yan is set to make her ONE Championship debut, and will take on 19-year-old Cambodian Eh Ya Nut in a showdown of talented young strikers. Eh Ya Nut possesses valuable experience inside the ONE Championship cage, having competed in the promotion in December of 2015. Xu, a former WBC Intercontinental champion, will test her skills against the Khun Khmer specialist in an exciting striking battle.

Making their highly-anticipated ONE Championship debut, “The Sweeping Monk” Chen Geng Min will take on opponent Peng Xue Wen of Guangdong in a three-round strawweight contest. Chen, a multiple time Brazilian jiu-jitsu champion, is 3-0 in professional martial arts competition, and is a mainstay of AMA Gym in Shanghai. Peng, on the other hand, sports a 2-1 professional martial arts record and is the former 2014 National Youth Greco Roman Wrestling Champion. The two warriors are set for what is expected to be a high-level grappling affair.

30-year-old Sagetdao Petpayathai is a Muay Thai specialist and a four-time Lumpinee Stadium champion who has won every major title in Muay Thai. He made his professional cage debut last March at home in Bangkok, defeating Malaysia’s Kelvin Ong via first-round technical knockout. Voted by Thai media as one of the greatest Muay Thai practitioners in history, Petpayathai is known for his highly technical knowledge in all of Muay Thai’s varied techniques. Petpayathai will be taking on Mahmoud Mohamed in his second bout inside the ONE Championship cage.

Mahmoud Mohamed of Cairo, Egypt, is a ONE Championship lightweight competitor with a 4-4-1 professional martial arts record. He made his promotional debut in January of 2016, showcasing well-rounded striking and grappling skills against talented young opponent Christian Lee. In his most recent bout, Mohamed took on former lightweight contender Bashir Ahmad. He now returns to action seeking victory, but will have to go through Sagetdao Petpayathai to claim success.

30-year-old “Supermom” Miao Jie of Shanghai, China is a professional martial artist with a 2-1 record. A talented grappler, Miao recently placed third overall as a purple belt at the 2017 IBJJF World Championships in Long Beach, California, USA. Looking to make a name for herself in Asia’s premier martial arts organization, Miao seeks to showcase her complete skills as she makes her ONE Championship debut against Mona Samir.

Female flyweight competitor Mona Samir of Cairo, Egypt, is a professional martial artist with a 1-3 record. Samir made her ONE Championship debut in September of 2015 against Singapore’s Angela Lee, and returned to the promotion a year later to face Michelle Nicolini. Featuring a well-rounded set of skills, Samir is determined to claim victory inside the ONE Championship cage. Having faced the biggest names in women’s martial arts in Asia, Samir is ready to utilize her experience as an advantage against opponent Miao Jie.

22-year-old Singaporean lightweight prospect Amir Khan is a professional martial artist with a stellar 7-2 record. He is considered one of the most promising young talents to represent Singapore on the international stage of martial arts. Khan is currently riding a four-bout win streak, which includes one win by submission and three by devastating knockout. In his most recent outing, Khan needed just a little over a minute to finish Rajinder Singh Meena with punches. Next in line for Khan is the dangerous Jaroslav Jartim.

Prague-based martial arts star Jaroslav Jartim of Czech Republic will return to the ONE Championship cage following an unsuccessful debut last April at the hands of Honorio Banario. With a professional record of eight wins, six losses and one draw, Jartim remains a highly-capable competitor with tremendous finishing ability. Of his eight victories, three have come by submission and three by knockout. The Penta Gym Prague representative is set to face top Singaporean lightweight prospect Amir Khan.

Shanghai-based competitors “The Ghost” Zhang Ze Hao and former boxer Li Cheng Chao are set for their first appearance inside the ONE Championship cage. Zhang, a proponent at the AMA Shanghai Gym, is 2-2 as a professional and sanda and Brazilian jiu-jitsu practitioner. Li, representing the Dragon Warrior Gym, is also 2-2 as a professional, and comes from a boxing background. The two are set for a three-round battle on the preliminary card of ONE CHAMPIONSHIP: SHANGHAI.

Kicking off the action at ONE CHAMPIONSHIP: SHANGHAI are two promising young bantamweight prospects. Malaysian warrior Marc Marcellinus is set to return to the ONE Championship cage opposite Vietnam’s Tran Quang Loc. Marcellinus has already competed twice for the promotion, taking on Singapore’s Stephen Langdown in 2013 and Thailand’s Anatpong Bunrad in 2014. After a long break from professional competition, Marcellinus returns to face Tran, an exciting prospect from Ho Chi Minh City who is making his professional martial arts debut.
