Daylight - Good News about the Philippines and Pinoys vol. 3 Issue 35

Wazzup Pilipinas!

These articles are from the Daylight - Good news about the Philippines and Pinoys from the Presidential Communications Development and Strategic Planning Office (PCDSPO).

“Today, we find ourselves at a time where we are cleaning up and strengthening our systems and processes; at a time when we once more face a crossroads—if we choose what is right and what is straight, this is the path that will bring us to true and meaningful change in society. It is my hope that, as a people, we will see today’s destruction of the culture of corruption as part of our goal to achieve inclusive growth.”

-President Benigno S. Aquino III, in the speech on October 2, 2013, where he announced more government-reform initiatives, including sweeping changes in the Bureau of Customs

Metro Manila Skyway (MMS) Stage 3 Project Approved By Malacanang

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Traffic weary motorists have relief coming soon. Malacanang recently approved the contract for the Metro Manila Skyway (MMS) Stage 3 Project which will connect the Southern Luzon Expressway to the Northern Luzon Expressway. The project will be fully funded by the Citra Central Expressway Corporation at an estimated cost of Php 26.5 billion and will be overseen by the Department of Transportation and Communications and the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB).

This new road is expected to help decongest EDSA and other major roads such as Quezon Avenue, Araneta Avenue, Nagtahan, and Quirino and greatly reduce travel time from Buendia to Balintawak from the usual 2 hours or more to just 15 minutes. In a 2013 report released by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), it estimated that around Php 2.4 billion worth of economic and opportunity loss is incurred daily due to traffic congestion in Metro Manila.

The flood free, mostly elevated 6 lane expressway, has an approximate length of 14.2 kilometers and will help reduce pollution, provide greater comfort and safety to the motorists and result to large savings in travel time, fuel and vehicle maintenance costs. It will also provide around 6,000 direct jobs and an additional indirect jobs of around 10,000 during construction.

Napoles, Malacanang and the Pork Barrel Conspiracy Theories

Wazzup Pilipinas!
"These allegations merits a PUBLIC SHARE on my timeline not for any other reasons other than knowing the whole TRUTH about the matter. The article presented a lot of questions that needs to be answered and as of this moment there have been no attempts to provide a satisfactory 'no bullshit' answers to all the QUESTIONS!" - Raine De Ocampo

NAPOLES HAD LUNCH AT PALACE BEFORE SHE SURRENDERED TO PNOY
By Francisco Kit Tatad | Opinion | Manila Standard Today

(Personal Note: As it appears, their battery of online trolls - the same ones who attack me each time I have a column that is critical of the President - have succeeded in blocking the link to this article, flagging it as having malicious/ inappropriate content. How can the link to a Manila Standard Today article be blocked from being posted/shared on Facebook? Is someone afraid because the truth is starting to come out? Solution: Copy-paste. Please share so these trolls' efforts will be for naught.)

Contrary to what the nation and the rest of the world have been led to believe, President Benigno S. Aquino III spent several hours in “closed- door conversations” with Janet Lim Napoles, the suspected mastermind in the alleged P10-billion pork barrel scam involving selected opposition lawmakers, before showcasing to the media her formal “surrender” to “the only person she trusted,” on the evening of August 28, 2013, authoritative sources have revealed.

This incredible detail was completely left out of Malacanang’s official statement, which had sought to present Aquino’s meeting with Napoles as no more than a 10-minute affair that ended an otherwise fruitless manhunt of a celebrated fugitive from justice, and was witnessed by several Cabinet members and duly recorded for posterity by the Malacanang press office.

Janet Lim Napoles Surrenders

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The government offered a Php10 million reward for information that will lead to the arrest of Janet Lim-Napoles. Napoles is wanted on charges of serious illegal detention arising from the alleged kidnapping of Benhur Luy. But the real issue is her participation in the billion of pesos PDAF scam.

But after just a few days, we now hear of news that Napoles has surrendered to no less than the President of the Philippines. The President immediately turned her over to the custody of Interior and Local Government Secretary Mar Roxas and Philippine National Police Director-General Alan Purisima for processing and booking.

Napoles was shielded immediately . No Media, No Mugshot. Senate and Congress have instructions to keep the comfort rooms clean, as they expect massive usage...hahaha.

Is this an indication that the corruption may really be that hugely associated or linked with big people under the Executive that Napoles had to go to the top?

Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) : A Farewell to the Pork Barrel

"There's wisdom in weighing all factors before making a decision,
there's strength in making it on your own terms, your own time,
specially if you're the leader of your country, for the good of all~

Haters will hate, idots will sound idiotic, but the fact remains that PNoy
consistently makes the strong, right decisions at the perfect, right times.
I'm proud and grateful to have this man as the President of the Philippines." - Spanky Enriquez

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I have to agree with what a Facebook friend has posted above on his Facebook status. Our president is not a man who could quickly come up with decisions but I give him the benefit of the doubt that he is slow because he takes careful consideration of all matters related to the issues.
We hear him say this at a Malacanang presscon only three days before a netizen-organized rally against the congressional pork barrel will be held in Luneta. The declaration was just last Friday informing the Philippine nation that he was abolishing the corruption-tainted funding vehicle officially called the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) but more popularly known as the "pork barrel".
I've seen all the comments across my Facebook timeline and somehow most of them still have something negative to say about the President despite of his recent stand.

Seemingly departing from his earlier stand, President Benigno "Noynoy" Aquino III on Friday said it is time to abolish the PDAF. It was a turnaround from Aquino’s position before saying that the pork barrel fund had its “good uses” and should not be junked.
