Madame Tussauds, Klook and Cathay Pacific Immortalize Pia Wurtzbach as First Filipino Wax Figure

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Don't be surprised if you saw two Pia Wurtzbachs at the Fashion Hall of SM Megamall earlier of March 29, 2019.

With wax figures as detailed as this one, no wonder Madame Tussauds is a popular attraction everywhere they setup a museum, and with this replica wearing a similar blue gown with Swarovski crystals created by the same designer, Michael.Cinco, you can't tell them apart if Pia stood still imitating the wax figure.

Dopelganger, twin, clone, or whatever you want to call it. It's an attraction you could hug and even kiss without the real person minding. Shucks! I should have done that during the photo ops with the real Pia herself. How come it only came into mind just now! Bummer! It would have been amusing seeing Pia's reaction.

Congratulations to Pia for being chosen as the first Filipino immortalized as a wax figure...You beat the Pacman, and all other Pinoy personalities. It's a big hard punch against other "famous" or "infamous" personalities in the Philippines. Who would have known a beauty queen who took home the Miss Universe crown last 2015 will be the very first Madame Tussauds Pinoy icon.

We interviewed the General Manager of Madame Tussauds Hong Kong to get some more details on the selection process so watch it as soon as it gets uploaded.

Also interviewed Klook's Market Lead to know more about the promos on tours and other activities. This is also because I'm planning to visit HK soon in July for another event coverage so I will definitely be passing by Madame Tussauds.

Too bad the rep from Cathay Pacific already left the event before we could get to interview him. The only limtation I have with their promo is that they don't accept Paypal payments. I should have booked my flight with them.

But there was the photo ops with two other beauty queens which sort of saves the day since who doesn't want to be in the middle of two gorgeous ladies. Nah! They were there for Pia and not me...hehehe. Actually, every beauty queen or candidates much-coveted crown is the Miss Universe title so being crowned by the former Moss Iniverse will be truly epic....It's like transfering the Queen title to Miss Universe hopefuls.

DOE Holds Basic LNG Training

Wazzup Pilipinas!

KNOWLEDGE IS POWER: DOE Assistant Secretary Leonido J. Pulido III stresses the importance of the Basic LNG Training and encouraged participants to take advantage of the opportunity to learn more about the natural gas industry.

Members of the Department of Energy – Oil Industry Management Bureau led by Assistant Secretary Leonido J. Pulido III, held a two-day training program on Basic Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) last 25 and 26 March 2019 as part of the Gas Policy Development Project (GPDP) of the DOE and the University of the Philippines – Statistical Center Research Foundation, Inc. (UP-SCRFI).

The program provided a basic understanding of key concepts of the LNG value chain, the Philippine Downstream Natural Gas Industry Regulation (PDNGR), as well as the technical assistance to be extended by the GPDP relative to the implementation of the PDNGR.

Energy Secretary Alfonso G. Cusi expressed his support for the knowledge and capacity-building activity given the crucial role of LNG in the country’s energy supply.

“It is important for the government to keep cultivating a strong partnership with the academe. Their expertise and perspectives are crucial in helping us develop effective strategies in meeting our energy development goals, especially in light of Malampaya’s forthcoming depletion. We need to gain a deep understanding of the LNG for us to fully harness its potential as an energy resource,” Sec. Cusi emphasized.

Representatives from various LNG companies such as Cheniere, Japan’s Energy for a New Era (JERA), Golar LNG, and Osaka Gas were among the resource speakers for the training program.

Other government agencies that were represented in the workshop included the Senate, the House of Representatives, the Department of Labor and Employment-Bureau of Working Conditions, the Maritime Industry Authority, Bureau of Fire Protection, the Environmental Management Bureau, Philippine Coast Guard, as wells the Health and City Engineering Offices of Batangas City. Together with other industry stakeholders, the participants engaged in a dynamic discussion on relevant Philippine laws, policies and regulations, and other technical processes required for the establishment and operations of LNG facilities.

Inputs from the discussions will be used in the formulation of natural gas policies and in the development of a comprehensive resource document on LNG in the Philippines.

The GPDP is being implemented by the United States Department of State under the US-Asia Enhancing Development and Growth through Energy initiative.
