1800 Tequila Celebrated at Punta Mandala

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Think that tequila’s only good for slamming? Think again. Think that aging is only limited to “high brow” spirits like whiskey and cognac? Think again because 1800 Tequila® is about to change your life.

This past Saturday night, March 4th, 2017, 1800 Tequila was celebrated at popular resto bar and events place, Punta Mandala, owned by prominent actor/host Paolo Bediones. For many in attendances, it was the chance to savor one of the finest tequila products in the world not as a shot, but rather, on the rocks, neat, or in one of Punta’s signature cocktails, the 1800 Magnum Margarita.

1800 Tequila earned its name from the year tequila was first aged in oak barrels. The brand celebrates the moment when distillers broke from convention in order to produce a smoother, one-of-a-kind characteristic that has defined its taste for generations. As such, 1800 Tequila has prided itself as “not for most people.”

On hand for the celebrations was Genrev Paul Bacasno, brand-ambassador for 1800 Tequila. His passion for mixing and his knowledge of spirits and taste has established him as among the best mixologists in the country.

Idea Hack Highlights Road Safety in the Philippines

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The Department of Transportation (DOTr) and partner agencies will gather Filipino developers, IT and digital media talents, and road safety enthusiasts in a national Road Safety Idea Hack, which also features workshops using traffic and road safety data sets at the Crowne Plaza, Ortigas Avenue, Quezon City on March 13 and 18.

The Road Safety Idea Hack welcomes people from diverse backgrounds, whether in app development, digital media, social science, data sciences, road safety advocacy and all who are excited and interested to learn more about open data and road safety.

Interested participants will form teams to produce ideas, analyses, methodologies, digital media, advocacy campaigns and app prototypes to improve road safety in the Philippines, using OpenTraffic data provided by Grab, road crash data aggregated by the DOTr, and other datasets, such as jeepney routes and school locations. Entries will be judged according to expected impact, creativity, feasibility, and presentation. The panel of judges will be announced shortly.

Registered participants who are not joining the competition are also invited to free workshops on March 13, where they can learn new skills, such as using Mapillary or the Open Street Map, or about how to become a road safety advocate.
