Nissan Philippines Unleashes the 2017 Nissan GT-R

Nissan Philippines Inc. (NPI) once again brings Innovation that Excites to the local automotive market as it unveils for the first time in the Philippines the 2017 edition of the Nissan GT-R. The legendary super sports car, which was officially launched last September 14, 2016 during the 6th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) at the World Trade Center in Pasay City, showcased an exciting new look both inside and out, as well as major driving-performance enhancements and key new features. These represented the most significant changes made to the model since it was introduced in 2007.

Introduced in 2007 as a successor to the famous Nissan Skyline GT-R, the Nissan GT-R soon attracted the attention and loyalty of racing aficionados, who were drawn by the vehicle’s vaunted speed and driving performance. The vehicle’s legendary performance on and off the race track soon earned its reputation as a machine that can hold its own versus the European super cars pitted against it.

Hiroshi Tamura, Nissan’s Chief Product Specialist of the GT-R, explains. “The new GT-R delivers a heart-pounding driving experience at all times and on any road for whoever sits in the driver’s seat. We have continued to push its performance boundaries to the outer limits—it’s even more potent than before. Peugeot Philippines will be showcasing its rich motorsports heritage as well as its full vehicle line-up available for test drive at the 2016 Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS).

“Motorsports is not only our passion, it’s in our DNA,” says Glen Dasig, President of PEUGEOT Philippines. “In the span of more than three decades, we have produced some of the best rally and sports racing cars the industry has ever seen,” he added.

To celebrate PEUGEOT’S motorsports heritage, two custom-built PEUGEOT 208 GTi’s will be on display. The first is inspired by the PEUGEOT 208 T16 Pikes Peak, which made its victorious debut at the 2013 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb. Combining a light body weight with a twin-turbo V6 engine, the PEUGEOT 208 T16 has a total power output of 887hp. “The PEUGEOT 208 T16 proves PEUGEOT’S dedication to motorsports excellence. It has shattered records and is regarded as one of the best rally cars to date,” Dasig said.

Celebrating Philippine Motorsports with The 2016 Targa Manila

The second custom-built PEUGEOT 208 GTi is a participating vehicle in one of the country’s biggest racing events of the year: The 2016 Targa Manila.

Targa Manila will be the first premium car rally powered by PEUGEOT Philippines. There will be 24 teams that will have to compete with each other in a battle of wits, strategy, and performance. “This is PEUGEOT’S first venture into the local motorsports scene,” Dasig said. “Organized together with Tuason Racing, it will be an unforgettable experience for both car fans and spectators alike,” he added.
