Wazzup Pilipinas!

“The fight against HIV and AIDS requires #OneLove,” emphasized LoveYourself Executive Director Ronivin G. Pagtakhan.

LoveYourself, an HIV testing, counseling, and peer education advocacy group, urges everyone to unite amidst diversity by joining the #One-love photo shoot on 20-21 August at the DHQ Studios, Alphaland Makati Place, Makati City by registering at go.loveyourself.ph/onelove2016.

#OneLove refreshes the organization’s annual online advocacy campaign called “WearLove,” which is a photo shoot featuring the iconic black LoveYourself shirt and propagating the message of self-worth of people from different walks of life in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

Among other social personalities and advocates, #OneLove is supported by actress-blogger Saab Magalona-Bacarro, former Pinoy Big Brother housemate and LGBTQI rights advocate Rica Paras, and Starstruck finalist turned indie actor Prince Estefan.

This campaign became even bolder as LoveYourself aims to help in realizing Miss Universe 2016 Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach’s core message of influencing the youth to raise certain causes like HIV awareness that are timely and relevant in the country today.

The winning team from Davao will join the NBA 3X male 10-12 category together with their counterpart from Cebu. They will be guided by Tenorio whose advocacy centers on developing young talents with the potential to lead the country on the international basketball stage.

“Basketball has always been my lifelong passion and it is an honor to be able to share this with the Filipino youth from different backgrounds through TM Basketball Para Sa Bayan,” said Tenorio. “By recognizing their potential and empowering them to focus and hone their skills, I hope they apply the lessons learned on the court into their daily lives and become better persons.”

TM BPSB was developed by Globe Telecom, in partnership with LA Tenorio´s Method Basketball Academy, to hone the basketball skills of underprivileged youth and impart to them the value of sportsmanship and having a healthy lifestyle. It is part of a larger sports program of Globe which includes TM Football Para sa Bayan. Both promotes grassroots sports development by establishing various sports communities across the country and creating opportunities for higher learning. This advocacy reinforces TM’s commitment in the creation of a #WonderfulPH by helping the Filipino youth through sports.

“TM Basketball Para Sa Bayan is a wonderful way to showcase the talents of up-and-coming basketball players,” said Globe Director for Corporate Social Responsibility Fernando Esguerra. “Working with underprivileged communities and discovering several sports-oriented and talented children give us encouragement that we are indeed on the right track in nation-building through sports.”

Ray Guinoo, Director for TM Portfolio and Brand Management added: “We want to help the youth by providing resources to this advocacy. By nurturing their talent, feeding their passion, instilling good values, and creating opportunities, TM may be able to bring out the potential in these kids and lead them towards a better life.” TM is Globe Telecom’s value brand offering. The service has gained popularity due to its very affordable text and call promo offers.

For this year, the TM BPSB program has lined up a series of basketball clinics and 3-on-3 tournaments in various parts of the country. It has already successfully completed the Cebu leg as well as the Cavite and Bulacan legs where three teams were selected to compete in the NBA 3X 2016 male 13-15 division.

NBA 3x 2016 is in its sixth year of competition in the Philippines and is expected to be participated in by over 200 teams from all over the country. Globe Telecom Brings Cyberwellness Program to Visayan and Mindanao High Schools

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Concerned over the online health and safety of Visayan and Mindanao youth, Globe Telecom opens its Digital Thumbprint Program (DTP) cyberwellness advocacy to all interested high schools in the regions which want to teach their students how to avoid social media mistakes and prevent them from becoming victims of cyberbullying and cybercrimes.

At the same time, Globe encourages community members such as parents and teachers to join the advocacy by nominating any school which they want to benefit from DTP. This way, they can help young people learn about responsible use of technology, be it through gadgets, website browsing, or social media platforms.

Co-designed by the Karrikins Group, DTP is composed of a series of workshops patterned after the Optus DTP in-school program where it has already reached 81,000 high school students across Australia. Globe also aims to do the same by educating as many Filipino youth on digital citizenship in view of a recent Philippine National Police report that half of the internet users are adolescents aged 17 years old and below.

“With the increasing time the youth spends online to do schoolwork or partake in online gaming and social media platforms, these young digital natives are becoming more exposed to a myriad of issues such as identity-theft and cyberbullying. Thus, we decided to bring DTP to different parts of the Philippines such as the Visayas to help guide them in making safe and responsible choices in their online activities. DTP can equip them with the knowledge and tools to protect themselves online,” said Fernando Esguerra, Globe Director for Citizenship.

DTP offers three exciting modules for students. Each module is designed to increase students’ knowledge of digital citizenship and cyber safety by taking a critical look at their online behavior and helping them develop insights into the influences of the online world and the choices they are making.

The Digital Insight workshop provides activities to help students discern proper online behavior, Digital Impact tackles issues on technology's impact on students' social activities, while Digital Ambition equips them with skills on how to use technology to achieve life goals. While all public and private schools nationwide are eligible to receive the free DTO workshops for their teachers and students, the modules are recommended for students from grades 7-12.

To nominate a school for DTP, simply fill out this form http://bit.ly/GlobeDTPNomination with the necessary details or emailbridgecom@globe.com.ph. The Globe Citizenship team will use this information to contact the school directly to arrange a schedule with them for the DTP workshops. For additional questions on DTP, you may email bridgecom@globe.com.ph.
