Wazzup Pilipinas!

Jertie’s Kitchen is a specialty home-based business operated by sisters, Jertie and Jaclyn Abergas, who want to introduce an alternative, healthier lifestyle to people who want to take care of their bodies.

The sisters create mouth-watering gluten-free and vegan dishes and pastries to satisfy people’s palates. They also show how to make these simple plant-based dishes through cooking workshops.  They also offer health coaching to help people transition to a healthier lifestyle.

Jertie’s Kitchen is proud to work with Sugarleaf Organic Market and Café to encourage people to live healthier lives. The sisters believe that it is extremely validating to know of their all-out support and belief in their passion and everything that they do. Sugarleaf believes in the same principles Jertie's Kitchen do, to encourage people to be more conscious of what they’re eating and to provide them with the options they need to do that.

At an event held last September 10, 2014 at Sugarleaf Organic Market and Cafe Makati located at the MEDICard Lifestyle Center of Urdaneta Village, paseo de Roxas corner Buendia, another healthy food preparation series (not completey raw as healthy can be cooked) dubbed The Green Guide to Eating Right Workshop Series in tandem with Jertie's Kitchen, was introduced to the members of the media plus other walk-in attendees and guests, a preview of what's to come.

Red Turnip Theater Sets Re-Run of "Cock" from Oct. 3 - 5

Wazzup Pilipinas!

John, M, W and F are back.

After making a splash during its Manila premiere last February, Red Turnip Theater is bringing back the Olivier Award-winning play "Cock" for a limited one weekend re-run this October. Mike Bartlett's comedy about sexual identity was a surprise smash, playing to packed houses and critical acclaim. It also marked the directorial debut of Rem Zamora who created a stir with his "innovative" (PEP.ph) and "creative" (Business World) staging; a bare stage with only his four actors and Bartlett's witty script.

REM ZAMORA: "We always knew we had a fantastic script. When we first read Cock, I was on the floor. It was hilarious. It was also a little painful, cause it was so real. What I didn't expect was the huge reception we got after we opened. There was so much buzz! Our houses filled up quickly and people really took to the show. People talked and debated over it. In fact, people are still talking about it! That's why we knew we had to bring it back. Everyone who had come to the show wanted to see it again and those who had missed it the first run were begging for a re-run."

"Cock" centers around a man (John) who must choose between his gay lover (M) and the woman (W) he's slowly falling in love with. Adding confusion to the mix is M's father (F) who is hell-bent on preserving his son's homosexual relationship. The four decide to meet for an ill-fated dinner and that's when all hell breaks loose. The show has been hailed as "a 90 minute whirlwind of language and deft theatrics, a human battle royale..." (The Philippine Star)

Wazzup Pilipinas Original Short Stories Series: The Murder Case

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Id is the most basic part of the personality, and wants instant gratification for our wants and needs. For me, the Id of the story was when Rebecca Bloom, the main character, got to her instinct and started investigating about the case of her parents. She didn’t know what to do at first until she figured out there were only four people in their house that time including her. She kept investigating and found out that the suspect was her.

The ego deals with reality, trying to meet the desires of the id in a way that is socially acceptable in the world. For me, the ego was when Nathalie confessed that Rebecca was the suspect but Rebecca kept on denying it. Rebecca gained some pride during that time. Another part was when Rebecca kept on arguing with her mom instead of saying sorry to her.

The superego develops last, and is based on morals and judgments about right and wrong. For me, the superego was when Rebecca knew that she did it. It wasn’t said in the story but somehow being the author, Rebecca gained some conscience in herself after knowing what really happened. She didn’t expect that she could do such a thing due to depression with her family.

Please read on below as we present to your our short story for the day.

#EasyTaxiEverywhere: An Interview with Easy Taxi Global Executives Joon Chan and Daniel Torres

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Easy Taxi has been around for more than a year already yet it has not been as grandeur as its competition when it comes to promotional gimmicks, campaigns and event launches. In fact even its office located at the Angelus Plaza in Makati was as simple as it can possibly be.

Why? Because it concentrated more on making the taxi booking experience as convenient and seamless as possible so it has focused more of its funding on improving their services by offering better packages for its drivers. These involve training programs, recognitions and rewards for its taxi fleet to make them more informed and responsive of the needs of the commuters.

The company already operates in 37 countries making them the biggest taxi booking mobile app company in the world. For the month of August, it was reported that the Philippine operations were on top of all the other Easy Taxi operations globally. This clearly states that they are very much welcomed as a mobile app service by the Filipinos whose population is already getting more comfortable in using the new technology.

A visit at their office to interview two of their global executives namely Regional Managing Director (SEA) Joon Chan and CEO/Country Manager (Philippines) Daniel Torres, we learned more about Easy Taxi and their honorable goal - to offer safety and convenience in riding taxis - Easy Taxi Everywhere!
