Anna Oposa: An Interview with the Chief Mermaid of Save Philippine Seas

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We were very fortunate to interview the Chief Mermaid of the Save Philippine Seas (SPS), Anna Oposa, who was a speaker in one of the events that Wazzup Pilipinas attended which had several social innovators as guests within its three days of learning and interacting with peers who share a common interest: to reach out to our fellow men as a response to social awareness.

Out of the hundreds who registered to be included on the list of attendees for the Dream Expo MNL, I was lucky enough to be one of the 200 chosen to get the opportunity to listen to esteemed speakers who already made a significant impact in society even at a very young age.

One of them was Anna Oposa who was quite remarkable on stage especially with the way she played with words during her presentation. She really commanded attention from the audience.

Below are the questions we presented to her, along with the corresponding answers:

Social Experiments: When Blind Items Become Too Factual - It Hurts!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We've asked it before, and we will ask it again. It hurts, right?

Don't go running to your friends to ask for sympathy. Karma is really a bitch! Too bad it is destined to go around trying its best to ultimately balance everything. But when you react to blind items thinking that it was referring to you, then your guilt just made you admit to your own faults.

We know life can be cruel sometimes. But the world does not revolve around you alone. We may be referring to somebody else, or like you said, this may be just another one of our social experiments. We are a happy bunch of retards aimed to rule the world. We are your friendly neighborhood politicians. The people loved us so much that they keep voting for us.

Now you know what it feels like being talked about. We've been bullied before. We know it stings so much we could almost puke. Spit and shit blood!

We did say we were willing to take a beating from all of the issues thrown at us - the resilient race. But please do not flatter yourself too much believing you're the star in our show. Unfortunately, there are just too many people like you who lack the courtesy to just keep to themselves. You cannot change the world by hitting everyone with a silver bullet because they may not be werewolves. A lot of creatures roam around the neighborhood in search of prey especially during the night. Some of them drain your blood, some of them will rip your heart out, while some will eat your brains - if ever you have one.

UNTV Versus Sofitel: Trending Negatively Due to Bad Publicity

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It's UNTV against Sofitel. Who would win? Many would side with the underdog, but many will be saying its up to who has the best lawyers. UNTV may get public sympathy but is it all worth it for just one hotel among the many that exists in the country. So what if they banned their TV show in their hotel? Will the effect be significant? Will they be losing a lot if guests in this hotel fail to watch their show in this particular hotel.

Some people just do not realize that it is not just about the amount, the number, the figures, and everything else similar. It is about the principle! To fight for what is right. Sabi nga nila, "Kapag may katwiran, ipaglaban mo!"

But frankly, when we check in at hotels, most of us watch the entertainment channels and less of the news channel. Most of the people who go on business or leisure trips rarely watch the news on TV, and are rarely inside their rooms for the whole day. After waking up, we brush our teeth, take a shower, wear our clothes for the day, and leave the room to take breakfast. We mostly come back at the end of the day.

PNoy Says, Supreme Court Says: It's Their Word Against the World

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We know we have laws, but still many are willfully breaking it. You know why? Because laws are man-made! Laws were meant to guide us but it should not limit us to accept as is, where is - if we know deep inside that it is wrong in the first place. They are the same laws that are being used for evil doers to get away with crimes committed against others. Loopholes exists. Whether we accept it or not, these laws were made by men with hidden agendas and malicious intents.

We've learned a great deal in the past months that most of our trusted men from the government are devious thieves who had their eyes on the "kaban ng bayan" since day one. A great percentage of our politicians are guilty of political dynasties, many of them do not follow the voting and campaign guidelines. Yet they still win. How come?

We basically do not follow our common sense. We follow our emotions. We follow our hearts. We get in trouble because of that. We are just too kindhearted to begin with. We easily forget. We easily forgive. However, eventhough we use our critical thinking in our decision making, there are just too many smart asses out there that are apparently smarter than us. Dim-witted and gullible. These are attributes we are commonly associated with that is why the "trapos" still exists.

When Feelingeras Become Boom Panes

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Some people need to get laid more often because they have too much time to waste and nothing better to do than to rumor-monger and gang-up on unsuspecting people without giving the accused a chance to defend themselves.

There was this thread created by a blogger who thought he should make everyone take notice of a fellow blogger who was copy-pasting articles from another site. It is OK to "police" the community but we should do it more professionally. What is worst is when others were too quick to judge and even inject unnecessary comments that would even implicate others not directly involved.

They should get a life out in the real world away from the keyboard or keypad or touch screen of their PCs or smartphones. Matapang lang sila online pero pag kaharap mo na ay di makaporma.

Winning people is like having sex. You need to begin with a foreplay. Explore her body, work on her G-Spot, and make the ecstacy linger before finally thrusting back and forth that long hard pulsating shaft deep into into her warm quivering moisted membrane until both of you reach an orgasm.

Many are just too trigger-happy to fire that damn shame gun. Putok agad at wala man lang warning shot.

Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014: Kris Aquino as Female TV Host of the Year

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I was actually on my way to the men's room when I saw this woman being escorted by a bunch of similarly-uniformed men and women. This woman had facial skin as white as snow that even in the dark it was very noticeable. I stopped and took a closer look and luckily heard her talk. There I quickly realized it was the Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino.

I think she never came in at the purple carpet walkway of the Yahoo Celebrity Awards that night. She probably entered from the backstage to keep away from the crowd all waiting infront of the SM Mall of Asia Arena last July 18. Well, wherever she came in, I was glad I was at the right time and place when she came in to prepare for her grand entrance to accept the award as Female TV Host of the Year.

Apparently, the stars already know if they won or not that night. They already prepared for speeches and everything, including their glamorous outfit for the event. But Kris was wearing a simple yet elegant outfit that was not too overwhelmingly noticeable. She was wearing hair extensions that night probably because she felt she really look better with long hair. Because we all know her as the vibrant host of morning and night TV shows, she still exuded an aura of prestige.

Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014: I Wanna Be Like Social Media Star Vice Ganda

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It was no surprise that Vice Ganda won as Social Media Star at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards last July 18, 2014 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. She also got the Love Team of the Year award together with Karylle for Vicerryle. This is one celebrity that has made a lot of creative effort and obviously has a genuine talent to come out with engaging social media influences with netizens worldwide.

The Unkaboggable comedian and Boom Panes fame wacky host never fails to arouse the interest of the madlang people on whatever social media network or fan site she owns and maintains. Widely recognized thanks to the It's Showtime noontime variety show, many have said that Vice Ganda is the life of the show. The only reason why the program has continued to stay broadcasting because of the humorous content that she contributes.

The rest of the co-host has their own unique talents but nothing compared to the appeal of the well celebrated comedian of the masses. She truly makes everyone laugh a lot everytime she opens that witty mouth of hers. Now, when you see her move. the that already is a big plus for everyone!

Congratulations, Vice Ganda. Keep on making the lives of the people a lot more cheerful everyday, may it be on TV or online.

The Real Filipina: Morena, Mestiza, Chinita or Negra?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Most of the time I feel we are a confused race. This is because when most of the people from the other areas of the globe wants to go to the tropical countries to get a tan and darken their skin, we are obsessed with getting white, and if possible white as snow, because majority of us were brainwashed in thinking a white complexion is the most appealing.

If you'll visit the other side of the world, there are no such thing as a glutathione search or skin whitening mania. We should be proud of our own color. The real Filipina complexion is the morena or negra, not the mestiza, not the chinita. I would be very proud if I belong to the first two skin hues.

Since we were conquered by the other races, and many Filipinos are crossing the boundaries of relationships among other nationalities, we now have a mixed citizenship. Would you believe that Filipinos nowadays are more proud if they have half-nationalities. The mixed breeds are flaunting their foreign bloods. They feel more esteemed when they can say they are half-Spanish, quarter-American, or one eight of Chinese.

Indeed, they are special since when we Filipinos merge with other races, we become more distinctive, we look more different, we sound so elite. This is why many are obsessed to change how they look. They change their hair color, they undergo plastic surgery for a pointier nose, they buy all the whitening soaps and creams, ...and they marry foreigners just because they want children that look nothing like them.

DOTC Secretary Abaya's Closing Remarks at the Daylight Dialogue

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya delivered the following closing remarks at last week’s Daylight Dialogue: The Good Governance Challenge, held at the Malacañang Palace and attended by President Benigno Aquino III, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, public and private sector leaders, and other advocates of good governance and development reform:

A pleasant afternoon to all of you.

I am deeply honored for this opportunity to speak today. This conference lays emphasis on the cornerstone of this administration’s promise to every Filipino: a leadership of integrity, a government of reform, a policy of transparency and accountability to the people, an ultimate goal of inclusive growth.

The Daylight Dialogue, today’s gathering has been called, and aptly so. Each one of us was drawn here today by a common vision for the country – one that has come from many years of darkness and has finally seen the light; one that we will never allow, for the sake of our children and future generations, to ever retreat once more into the shadows and negate the progress we are making today.

We are here for the same reason. We are committed to good governance and reform. More significantly, we are committed to making these changes irreversible.

Today, we have engaged in profound discourses on the success of President Aquino’s administration in pulling the country into the light, and how we can work together towards ensuring that we will never again succumb to the dark. We have spoken about how we will hurdle the challenges thrown our way, and how we will institutionalize government’s accountability to the public.

Maja Salvador Performs at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As requested by a huge number of online voters, The Legal Wife's favorite "kabit", actress Maja Salvador, performed a captivating and sexy song and dance number for the huge audience of the SM Mall of Asia Arena last July 18, 2014 during the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014 night.

Maja Salvador proves that she can actually make a significant impact as a total entertainer as she traverses another entertainment skill beyond merely acting and dancing on TV or in the movies. We could hear very well that she has the voice though not as powerful as our "biriteras" she can very well carry a tune and can fully accomplish a performance with very little errors or mistakes.

Combining dancing with her singing talent makes it more difficult, and make her more convincing as a performer, plus her magnificent outfit that night revealing her fabulous trimmed and fit body fully emphasized by her glaring dance moves signifies she's been also improving her physical prowess and figure.

The Yahoo Celebrity Awards, formerly called the Yahoo OMG! Awards is already on its fourth run as an award-giving body which gets its results from an online poll powered by votes form netizens worldwide. Filipinos all over the world, including foreign fans, must have all bonded together to vote for Maja as the chosen performer of the night. We all know why, and we are truly glad they voted for her!

Ayanasu and Strong Boy, Deaf Boy and a Girl in an Abaya: Silent Stories of Struggle and Survival

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Stuggling against disasters and surviving to tell the tale needs no words in the latest twin-bill production at the PETA PHINMA Theater. The Dora Theater Company’s (Japan) Ayanasu (Woven) shows back to back with Philippine Educational Theater Associaton (PETA)’s Strong Boy, Deaf Boy and a Girl in an Abaya on July 26, 2014, with shows at 3:00 PM and 8:00 PM.

In celebration of the Philippine-Japanese Friendship Month, the PETA Theater Center and Japan Foundation Manila present these two non-verbal performances that explore the two country’s shared experiences in facing national tragedies.

Ayanasu (Woven) is an improvised non-verbal performance depicting a family’s journey from loss to hope during the 2011 tsunami in Japan. Ayanasu, literally meaning ‘to weave’, reflects the creative process that the Dora Theater Company (Japan), guided by director Kenjiro Otani, underwent to produce this piece. During the course of rehearsals, spontaneous vignettes were interwoven into a narrative of solitude, memory and synchronicity. This international staging coincides with the company’s 40th anniversary. Interested performing groups are invited to join a workshop to be given by Dora Theater Company on July 27, 2014 at the PETA Studios. The workshop is divided into three components: ‘Devise Works’, which focuses on how to build non-verbal scenes, ‘Physical Theater’, which engages participants in activities from the Viewpoints technique while,‘Taboo’ deals with engaging in taboo topics via theater.

Proactiv Renewing Cleanser with Benzoyl Peroxide: Superior Treatment for Your Acne Problems

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Nowadays, a lot of medications are sprouting out claiming that they can treat acne. But are their claims honestly true, factual and verified? Can they really treat acne on their own?

For years now, the gold standard of treating mild to moderate acne is the benzoyl peroxide (BPO). This is because it is a topical antimicrobial medicine, an oxidizing agent that specifically kills P. acnes, the bacteria that cause acne breakouts. To a lesser extent, it also helps to unblock pores and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Be smart in choosing a product for your acne! BPO is known as superior to any medications for acne treatment.  It is not an antibiotic, and in 50 years of use, there has never been a documented case of BPO bacterial resistance; it is the cornerstone of prescription and over-the-counter acne therapy. And Proactiv Solution knows that.

That’s why Proactiv Solution has Micro-crystals (micro-crystal medicine) benzoyl peroxide! The exclusive form of benzoyl peroxide (BPO) found in the Proactiv 3-Step System’s Renewing Cleanser (Step 1) and Repairing Treatment (Step 3). A crystalline BPO that is finely milled in order to achieve the pore penetration required to control the acne cycle. The Proactiv micro-crystal BPO features exceptionally small and uniform particles—designed specifically to penetrate pores faster and to be gentler on the skin.

There are other ways to treat acne, but are all of them as effective as the other?

Paseo Verde: A Promising Mid Rise Condominium in Las Pinas City

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Education is the most important inheritance a parent can give to their children, with proper guidance and right up bringing,  a child can never go wrong with his or her decisions. This holds true in   the case of these two students.  At a very young age they persuaded their parents to buy them a condominium unit at Paseo Verde in Las Piñas City.

A mid rise condominium located South of Metro Manila interest the two students, Doreen Joy Rosell and Maria Jessica Bello both students from FEU,  because of its unique features that Paseo Verde offers to its unit owners. The bike facilities and electronic bike charging is just one feature that the condominium offers, it also has park and play ground of its own located in its premises. Plus the certified accreditation by the Building for Ecologically Responsive Design Excellence (BERDE) and a member of the Philippine Green Building Council for its steps toward promoting a sustainable community.

Presently, the  awareness in promoting and living in an eco friendly place is the current fad among young people today. They want to give their contribution in protecting the environment and helping it in their own way.
