Mount Fuji: Japan's Most Famous Landmark

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I searched the Internet and found out that the most famous landmark in Japan is the one called Mount Fuji. So this article is all about the said mountain, or is it really just a mountain?

Mount Fuji is with 3776 meters Japan's highest mountain. It is not surprising that the nearly perfectly shaped volcano has been worshiped as a sacred mountain and experienced big popularity among artists and common people throughout the centuries.

It is an active volcano, which most recently erupted in 1708. It stands on the border between Yamanashi and Shizuoka Prefectures and can be seen from Tokyo and Yokohama on clear days.

Another easy way to view Mount Fuji is from the train on a trip between Tokyo and Osaka. If you take the shinkansen from Tokyo in direction of Nagoya, Kyoto and Osaka, the best view of the mountain can be enjoyed from around Shin-Fuji Station on the right hand side of the train, about 40-45 minutes into the journey.

Garden Orchid Hotel of Zamboanga City: My Home at Asia's Latin City

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Your friendly neighborhood pambansang blogger of the Philippines visited Zamboanga under the invitation of the Department of Tourism of Region 9 to cover the many festivities of the city during its 77th Dia De La Ciudad De Zamboanga. This includes the 9th Philippine Bird Festival and the 2nd Zamboanga International Film Festival when Cinematheque Zamboanga was also inaugurated as the venue of the said film fest.

From the very moment we stepped out of the Cebu-Pacific airplane at the Zamboanga International Airport, we were greeted warmly by the Chavacano-speaking people of Zamboanga starting with a display of some traditional dance as a welcome treat for all the passengers from Manila, and a placard bearing my name carried by a true Zamboanguena to fetch and take me to Garden Orchid Hotel - my temporary home during my stay in Zamboanga Hermosa.

Garden Orchid Hotel is located at Gov. Camins Avenue and is just a stone's throw away from the airport. It is  approximately 10 minutes away form the commercial places like Paseo Del Mar where you can go dining by the sea.

I was booked at the new wing with its own driveway and grand lobby with amazing chandeliers, cylindrical staircases and a wide lounge area. There's a mini-bar at the far end and you can directly see the pool area from the lounge area because they are divided by a see-through glass wall.

The Attack of the Flappy Bird Clones

Wazzup Pilipinas!

After Flappy Bird.... there's Flappy Superhero Birds by Free Hot Games (iOS), Flappy Pipe – Revenge of the Birds by Ben Gaddy (iOS), Flappy Sperm by mantisincgameproductions (Android), Flappy Pipe by WAEEBA (Android), Flappy Troll by EgxGameFree (Android), Flappy Stars - Miley Wrecking Ball Edition by Storm Factory (iOS), Flappy Bieber by App5ive (Android), Flappy Fish by Frojo Labs (Android), Flappy Stache by Team Chaos (Android and iOS), Flappy Fish Escape by Entwickler-X (Windows), ......wait.....let me....rest a bit.....plus a lot more out there resembling the crazy game that made almost everyone insane.

When they said Flappy Bird is dead after the developer pulled it out of the online app stores, out came dozens of reincarnations banking on the popularity of app game that made you wanna wish you have no other worthwhile things to do in life but play on your smartphone.

Yeah, it was insanely addicting because it was a ridiculous game where you only have one life and do nothing but stay away from banging into those pipes. Fortunately, some of the new app games which followed Flappy Birds surprising "success" (if you may call it that) have features that make gaming more interesting. With a lot more eye-candies, things to collect for power-ups, and a few more animated highlights, game time is more "fun" time to leisurely spend the hours and get carried away by the game to reach the highest score possible.

Dulaang UP’s Ang Nawalang Kapatid Stages Additional Shows

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Coming off a hugely successful and critically acclaimed three-week run, Dulaang UP’s Ang Nawalang Kapatid stages additional shows on March 14, 15, and 16.

If you missed or would like to relive the Filipino retelling of one of the world’s oldest and longest epic poems, The Mahabharata, then this is your chance to watch the production praised by critics for its direction, text, music, and choreography. Critics laud the production as “an astonishing theatrical experience”, “an elegant and regal Filipino adaptation”, and Dexter Santos’ direction as “breathless and daring”.

The story revolves around the battling royal families of the Pandavas and Kauravas, and the moral dilemma Karna, the lost brother, finds himself in. To whom does he owe his loyalty? To his family or to the state which made him a prince?

Through this production, Dulaang UP seeks to bring the timeless story of The Mahabharata to a wider audience. By filtering the epic through the sensibilities of Filipino artists, the production shows us our Indian roots and its enduring impact on our culture. The production highlights how the epic has shaped strong values like loyalty to family which is so much a part of Southeast Asian culture.

Dia De La Ciudad De Zamboanga: Fun-Filled Festivities at Asia's Latin City

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Your friendly neighborhood pambansang blogger of the Philippines continues his Zamboanga Hermosa adventure! With so many stories to tell about Asia's Latin City, I needed to divide my stories into several parts. I'm still undecided if I should blog per location/event or on a per day basis simply because there's just so much great stories I want to share. But don't worry. I will figure it out as I let my wonderful memories write it for me. I might do a mix of both.....but let me just surprise you, it's better that way.

After attending the inauguration of the Cinematheque Zamboanga located at Legionnaire Road in Barangay Zone IV, I went back to the hotel where I was staying. I was booked at the Garden Orchid Hotel - yes! Garden Orchid and not Orchid Garden even though many would normally refer to it as Orchid hotel because it's much easier to say. If you're wondering why it's called that why...well here is a little trivia for you - it's mainly because the owner's last name is Go.

Obviously, he can't name it Go Hotel since there's one named like that already - the place for every Juan. Thus Garden Orchid it is!

Garden Orchid is located at Gov. Camins Avenue and is just a stone's throw away from the airport. It is  approximately 10 minutes away form the commercial places like Paseo Del Mar where you can go dining by the sea. If you have to go to Zamboanga for any reason, the Garden Orchid Hotel is the best place to stay.
