Komikon 2013: Keeping My Childhood Alive (Part 2)

Wazzup Pilipinas!

As I turn and walk away from the Betamaks booth, it went like BAM! Elbert Or, artist and editor of the comic series Cast, is over the opposite booth! So approach him while on his table are his latest creations which is also cool. He is a little bit reserved, but nevertheless he is nice. As I introduce myself, I showed the Cast comic book and asked for his John Hancock, his partner exclaimed "Wow Vintage!", referring to the comic I was holding. As always, a photo op before I say goodbye.

By the way, aside from the Yolanda fund raising, this years Komikon has something extra sweet for us comic book fans. Indie films Blue Bustamante and Graveyard Bandits was featured. Also, Akademi Samali, a comic community from Indonesia joined in the fun. Then the Philippine International Creative Content and Arts (PICCA) is in attendance to conduct workshops and film screening for members and other participants. Awesomely cool!

Now back to my story. I'm search mode for Stephen Segorvia and as Jamie Bautista mentioned he is at the Komik Kalye (at the other room). So I made my way to the conference room to where both the Komiks Tiangge and Komik Kalye is located. The indie komiks booth are few compare to the Summer Komikon and I cant even distinguish which is Komiks Tiangge or Komik Kalye.

The Student Exchange Program Experience

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Have you ever met people that shared with you the happiest ant most memorable activities even for a short period of time?

Last November, we had our Student Exchange Program together with the Malaysians from Sekolah Menegah Sains Tuadku Syed Putra held at YDC Pasig. There were about 16 students from Malaysia who are also studying Nihongo. We were only given three days to meet them, on the first day we had our visitors session which the students from IV-Joule and III-Kelvin had their individual chances to interact with them. After that session we had our cultural folk dance performance both from Philippines and Malaysia.

The next days, there we gained friendship with each other we are now comfortable to talk to each other, share our thoughts and took pictures together. We also played jackstones and calamansi relay. We really had great fun that time especially when we were explaining the whole rules of the game to one of our Malaysian friends and then suddenly he asked me if I can just explain it to him in Tagalog.

Fodor, Colossa Eye Japanese Legend Aoki Belt After Manila Matchup

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Who will have a chance to challenge Japanese mixed martial arts (MMA) legend Shinya Aoki, the current ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC) lightweight titleholder?

This will be finally answered during ONE FC: Moment of Truth on Dec. 6 at the Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena when former American Marines Caros Fodor and South African muay Thai practitioner Vuyisile Colossa battle in one of 10 electrifying bouts.

“I’m not taking any chances although I’m the better striker than him,” Fodor said in an interview after the open workout organized by ONE FC for the media and MMA fans at the Resorts World Manila in Pasay City.
