Wazzup Pilipinas!?
A remarkable stride toward global environmental advocacy and media excellence signals a bold turning point—where voices rise, stories ignite change, and the planet takes center stage in the narrative of our time.
Ross Flores Del Rosario, founder of WazzupPilipinas.com, External Vice President of the GPP Kalikasan Muna - Green Party of the Philippines, Board of Trustee of the Bayanihan Para sa Kalikasan Movement, Inc., and a proud resident of Pasig City, has been officially selected to participate in the Capacity Development and Training Workshop Series for Media Professionals on Intergovernmental Processes and Planetary Health. The prestigious international training is set to take place on September 3 and 4, 2025, at the renowned Sunway University, located in Sunway City, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
This milestone is more than a personal achievement—it is a compelling validation of Ross’s ongoing commitment to leveraging media as a powerful tool for social awareness, environmental education, and cross-border collaboration.
A Call to Champions of Truth and Sustainability
Out of numerous applicants from around the world, only a select few were chosen to take part in this transformative program. The initiative is designed to empower media professionals with deeper understanding and actionable insight into intergovernmental processes and the emerging global narrative on planetary health—a concept that bridges human well-being with environmental stewardship.
In the official communication from the organizers, participants were congratulated and informed of their selection, with all travel, visa, accommodation (for three nights), and meal expenses to be fully covered. More importantly, participants are expected to commit to publishing 3 to 5 stories throughout the year that explore planetary health within their local or national contexts. This commitment ensures that the training transcends the classroom and directly influences communities through responsible storytelling.
The Power of the Pen Meets the Urgency of the Planet
The upcoming workshop will not only provide theoretical frameworks and real-time case studies but also offer unparalleled access to subject-matter experts, global policymakers, and fellow media leaders. Participants will receive a detailed agenda, pre-reading materials, and a participant guide ahead of the training to prepare them for what promises to be an intense, eye-opening two-day journey.
By engaging with this international cohort, Ross will bring back to the Philippines a wealth of knowledge and collaborative energy, igniting discourse around pressing issues such as climate change, environmental justice, public health, and sustainable development—topics that resonate deeply within the mission of Wazzup Pilipinas.
Raising the Filipino Voice on the Global Stage
For Ross, who has long used his platform to amplify local stories with national and global relevance, this is an opportunity to bring the Filipino voice into critical global conversations. With the Philippines often on the frontline of climate-related disasters, the training presents a vital moment to spotlight Filipino resilience, innovation, and advocacy on a world stage.
“Being selected for this training is not just a privilege—it’s a responsibility,” Ross shared. “As storytellers, we have the power to shape public perception and influence policy. I intend to use every insight gained from this workshop to inform, educate, and inspire action.”
What’s Next?
Participants, including Ross, are expected to confirm their in-person attendance and complete a required form by July 31, 2025 (16:00 MYT). With preparations underway, anticipation is high for what this international gathering could spark—not just for media professionals, but for the broader movement toward a healthier planet.
For the Philippines, and for Wazzup Pilipinas, this is more than an invitation—it’s an open door to global advocacy, collaborative journalism, and a renewed fight for the future of our only home.
Stay tuned as Wazzup Pilipinas brings you exclusive coverage of this upcoming international training and the powerful stories it will help shape in the months to come.
