Wazzup Pilipinas!
The Philippines is a country blessed with so many waterfalls. Most of the provinces has its own unique and beautiful waterfalls to be proud and to be taking cared of. Its either promoted as a tourist destination or used for irrigation and electrification. Everytime I planned a trip to a certain place, I always look for any waterfalls existing and make it a part of my itinerary. I have been in different places in the country, particularly in Mindanao and seen different waterfalls, each one is unique and has its own beauty.
Here’s some of my list of waterfalls in Mindanao that I visited and probably among the best waterfalls in the country.

MARIA CRISTINA FALLS, Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte
During my elementary years, every time my teacher asked me to give an example of waterfalls, I quickly answered the Maria Cristina Falls. Famous for being beautiful and majestic, this 320 ft feet waterfalls is among the highest waterfalls in the Philippines. Can be found in Iligan City, Lanao Del Norte, its cascading water is also a source of electricity in Mindanao, through a hydroelectric plant. You can get a best view of the falls in a viewing deck of the National Power Corporation (NPC) building in Iligan City.

Gaining popularity among tourist, the newly discovered Asik Asik Falls in Alamada, North Cotabato, is considered as the most beautiful waterfalls in the country to date. A local resident told us that this waterfalls was created by a strong typhoon which brought heavy rains and strong winds in the area, uprooted the trees grew on those cliffs, which leave cracks and a water burst from within. What makes this waterfalls the most beautiful from other waterfalls I saw, is the lush green vegetation covered the cliffs and the water flows over it, amazing view indeed and I guess, it is the only spring waterfalls in the country. My long trip to see this amazing falls is not easy though, but its worth it.

Tinuy -an Falls in Bislig City, Surigao Del Sur is one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the country. I am in awe when seeing it for the first time , a wide curtain of waters. This 3 tiered waterfalls is the widest waterfalls in country, with 95 meters wide in which it is dubbed as the Niagara Falls of the Philippines. I much enjoy riding the bamboo raft that brings us towards the falls, the showering water from above is very refreshing , a must for a visitors to experience. Going there is easy, the road were widen and some parts are already cemented for the convenience of the visitors.

| Aliwagwag Falls Cateel, Davao Oriental |
Said to be grandest among the waterfalls in the Philippines, Aliwagwag Falls in Cateel, Davao Oriental is the highest waterfalls in the country towering in 1,100 feet. Made up of 84 cascading falls, Aliwagwag falls is described like a stairway to heaven. I was Speechless when I saw this gigantic waterfalls when we arrived at the area. Fascinated by the lush forest vegetation surrounded the falls, the view was spectacular. In 2012 typhoon pablo strikes in the Province of Davao Oriental and Cateel was one of the most devastated area hit by the raging typhoon. Sad to note then that the typhoon changed the landscape surrounding the magnificent falls. Just recently, I saw a photo of Aliwagwag falls taken a year after the devastation, im glad to say that its getting back to its glory and still the grandest of all.

| Seven Falls, Lake Sebu, South Cotabato |
Aside from the breathtaking scenery of Lake Sebu and the yummy chicharon Tilapia, one of the main attraction that a tourist can discovered in this place are the Seven Falls. Located in the municipality of Lake Sebu in South Cotabato, the cascading waters flowing from these falls are coming from the Lake. Among the Seven Falls only two can easily reached, the 35 ft. Hekong Alu falls and the 70 ft. high Hekong Bente falls, the rest of the seven falls are Hekong B’lebel, Hekong Lowig, Hekong Ukol, Hekong K’Fo-I, and Hekong Tonok. If you wonder how this waterfalls looks like from above, well, there is a zipline to try on. Feeling like superman, the view from above was amazing, flying over 200 meters above the seconds falls of Hekong Bente, and the rest of the seven falls. I have done ziplines from other places but it is the most scenic zipline I’ve tried so far.

I feel blessed that I was able to witness the beauty of these waterfalls, I hope to visit these wonders of nature again and to discover more. My chasing waterfalls continues, different waterfalls, different experienced but the same fun.
