IGDA Manila Holds Manila Game Jam 2013
On January 25 to 27, the International Game Developers Association – Manila Chapter (IGDA Manila) presents Manila Game Jam 2013 (MGJ2013), the biggest annual game-making event in the country. As part of the worldwide Global Game Jam, students, professional and hobbyist game developers will create games in just 48 hours, with the top games being awarded honors and special prizes.
MGJ2013 is the 4th game jam organized by IGDA Manila. Last year's game jam had more than 150 participants forming teams and producing more than 30 games.
This year, IGDA Manila partners with iACADEMY in Makati, bringing Global Game Jam to more locations in the Philippines. The jam will be held at iACADEMY’s new building: Mondragon House, located at 324 Sen. Gil Puyat Ave. (formerly Buendia Ave.), Salcedo Village, Makati. Mondragon House is the perfect location for a game jam; located along Buendia, it is easily accessible via public transportation. iACADEMY will also be providing facilities and top-of-the-line hardware to game jam participants, making sure attendees will be able to focus on making the best game possible.
For those who are just getting started in making games, a one-day game-making seminar will be conducted on January 19 at the auditorium of Mondragon House. Talks will be given by previous jam participants, discussing their game-making experience with tips and tricks on how to churn out a game in 48 hours. This seminar is open to all aspiring game developers, and will also serve as an orientation for this year's participants.
Also, we are doing several new things this year for MGJ 2013. With each MGJ, the games that come out every year keep getting better and better. The Game Jam organizing team would like this trend to continue, so for this year we have invited experienced game developers and are implementing a mentoring system so that teams can improve their games even more.
Finally, another first for this year that we will be giving out awards for the top games across all 3 Philippine Global Game Jam locations. Once the game jam concludes, all games will be accessible at http://globalgamejam.org. A jury will be playing through the Philippine created games and prizes will be given out to the top-rated games.
Cheers and we hope to see everyone at MGJ 2013! For more information, please check out the MGJ website at http://manilagamejam.wordpress.com, and stay tuned to our Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/groups/igdamanila/ for immediate updates.

Events like the Manila Game Jam truly highlight the power of collaboration and creative pressure in game development. It’s fascinating to see how much can be achieved in just 48 hours when talent and innovation come together. I recently explored https://nullsbrawl.net.tr/nullun-kavga-galerisi/, which captures a similar spirit of teamwork and design excellence found in fast-paced development challenges.
ReplyDeleteThe Manila Game Jam continues to prove that time constraints can actually drive creativity instead of limiting it. Developers working under pressure often produce some of the most inventive concepts. A great example of that same creative energy can be seen in Lumi & Finx

That’s an awesome initiative by IGDA Manila! Events like the Manila Game Jam truly inspire creativity in the gaming world. As a Magic Brawl APK fan, I love seeing how new ideas and mechanics born from such jams can shape future games — blending strategy, action, and innovation just like in Brawl-style gameplay!
ReplyDeleteThis kind of creative rush at Manila Game Jam 2013 is seriously inspiring — teams building full games in just 48 hours shows how powerful focused imagination can be. It actually reminds me of the fast-paced innovation in Null’s Brawl, where new ideas, characters, and updates come together just as quickly and creatively. If you enjoy seeing that same blend of skill and creativity in action, the latest Null’s Brawl builds capture that energy perfectly.
ReplyDeleteEvents like this always remind me how important fast testing is in game development. Even tools like Delta Executorl'
ReplyDeleteshow how smoother workflows can speed up script testing and prototyping. Kya game jam teams bhi aise lightweight tools use karte hain rapid iteration ke liye?
Wow, I didn’t know April had so many historical events and famous birthdays! I especially love that it’s Humor Month—perfect excuse to laugh more.
ReplyDeleteNulls Brawl APK is perfect for players who want to explore the game without spending money. The unlimited resources make everything accessible right away. I like that it includes exclusive content you can’t always find in the official game. Overall, it’s a fun and convenient way to enjoy Brawl Stars.
