Paracetamol trending due to shortage is alarming

Wazzup Pilipinas!?

We've seen reports of pharmacies running out of stock ng lagundi syrup/capsule and paracetamol.

It's alarming that Biogesic is trending and there's a shortage of analgesics and cough & cold meds.

However, "There is no shortage of paracetamol in the country", Trade Secretary Ramon Lopez assured the public.

Just in case there is truth in the shortage, here are a few reminders:

1. Paracetamol (Biogesic) is to be taken every 4-6 hours or as needed for fever. When it comes to buying Biogesic, it pays to distinguish the authentic from the counterfeit. Be in the know at all time.

2. Neozep and Bioflu are the same. These formulations are to be taken every 6 hours. Neozep and Bioflu already have paracetamol in them so no need to take paracetamol. Overdose po yun. Overdose may lead to kidney failure.

Both Neozep and Bio Flu are the same drugs, they are the same Paracetamol-Phenylephrine Chlorphenamine Maleate at nagkaiba lang sa brand name

Both Alaxan and Medicol have Ibuprofen and they are both anti inflammatory drugs

Stop taking antibiotics without doctor's prescription

These drugs, once taken in huge amount may lead to liver failure as cancer, avoid drinking alcohol while taking these drugs as alcohol once combined with paracetamol will create a toxic chemical enough to destroy the function of the liver. Prolonged, unsupervised intake of these medications could cause acute liver failure.

3. Meds for dry cough and productive (with phlegm) are different.

4. Drink plenty of water!!

Kalma! Hindi po 'yan nilalaklak ha.

For everyone's info, the recommended dosage: For adults is to take 500mg tablet once every 4-6 hours as needed.

It's always best pa din to consult a doctor!

I hope that there won't be a market price spike similar to face masks before.

Sana walang mag-hoard ng meds at ibebenta ng mahal.

A lot of people are experiencing COVID-like symptoms too.

Praying for everyone's safety and healing.

Generic paracetamol works better for me. Seems like branded ones have lesser content of active ingredients.

Home made is more helpful.. drink a lot of water guys. Reminder lang na hindi yan COVID. Huwag agad magpanic!

Here's a list of herbal medicines we recommend to peasant masses. And how to prepare it at home.

Lagundi syrup
- usually used to treat respiratory infection, esp cough (due to colds and/or flu) and asthma.
- you can purchase Lagundi leaves online.
- Prepare decoction by boiling the leaves.

Ginger/Turmeric tea with calamansi and/or honey

This blend is among the best alternative for anti-inflammatory remedy. Bukod sa available siya sa kusina.

Most of the plants shared here are very common so you can avail it as soon as you need it.

So we can all have a brighter hope in the future.

And most importantly, at this point na wala namang mai-offer ang gubyerno, share your herbs sa mga neighbors and those in need!

If u r Covid+:

Don't seek hospital admission right away.
Stay calm. Monitor temperature. Oxygen levels once or twice daily unless low.

Take paracetamol for fever. Seek help if not coming down or low oxygen

Self isolate, use n95 masks, ventilate room. Rest.

Break transmission.

I would like to point out that this may not be complied 100%. There are some situations that may go against these warnings. Doctors always weigh the risks and benefits during prescribing.

 WHO NEEDS RT PCR?

Sharing some of the possible areas where you can get free RT PCR (or lower price of the test than the usual).

  1. kidney transplant philippine provides a viable option for patients needing this procedure. With skilled medical professionals and advanced facilities, it ensures quality care. However, patients should consider factors like cost, availability of donors, and post-operative support before proceeding.
