WorldHotels, a global brand representing over 250 of the world’s finest independent hotels, has announced the addition of the celebrated Kunming Zhongwei Green Lake Hotel to its Elite collection. A flagship property of Zhongwei Hotel Group, one of the fastest growing hotel chains in China, Kunming Zhongwei Green Lake Hotel played a significant role in Yunnan’s hospitality excellence since 1956. With 60 years of heritage, the landmark hotel hosted some of China’s most prominent dignitaries and foreign guests. For the reconstruction of the Kunming Zhongwei Green Lake Hotel's block B building in 1922, the project had the world-famous architect, Leoh Ming Pei, among the ranks of its design team. The hotel is strategically located by the beautiful green lake in the heart of the city.

The benchmark of the hospitality industry in the city, Kunming Zhongwei Green Lake Hotel features 294 luxurious rooms and suites with sweeping views of the beautiful Green Lake or Kunming City. With two main buildings, one swimming pool, a fitness center, 13 meeting rooms and two authentic restaurants serving both western and Cantonese cuisine, the luxurious five-star property is a grand edifice overlooking Cuihu Park and the perfect base from which to explore Kunming City and the nearby Stone Forest.

“It is our great privilege to welcome Kunming Zhongwei Green Lake Hotel to the WorldHotels Elite collection,” says Roland Jegge, President Asia Pacific of WorldHotels. “With more than 60 years of illustrious history, this stunning landmark carries the rich local culture and heritage of the Kunming region, serving as the perfect sanctuary for both leisure and corporate travellers. The addition of Kunming Zhongwei Green Lake Hotel solidifies our affiliation with the Zhongwei Hotel Group, whose two other properties - Grand Central Hotel and Central Hotel, both in Shanghai - we have been representing in our collection for over ten years.”

An important commercial hub for Yunnan Province, Kunming is also known to be “the City of Eternal Spring” for its pleasant climate and blooming flowers. Set to become the hub and terminus for the “The Pan-Asia Railway Network”, Kunming will become the focal point in connecting China with seven countries in Southeast Asia, including Singapore, Malaysia, and Thailand.
