Levante: A Turning Point in Maserati's History

Wazzup Pilipinas!
"Sales of SUVs have surged over the past few years, but Maserati didn't have one to sell. Its portfolio consisted of luxury sedans, the Quattroporte and the Ghibli, and sumptuous GT cars like the GranTurismo. Now they have the Levante - Maserati's SUV."
The Maserati Levante was recently launched marking it a very historical moment as per statement of Wellington "Willy" Soong. Chair and President of Autostrada Motore Inc., during the night of October 12, 2016 when we personally witnessed these amazing vehicles proudly displayed at the Palace Pool Club in Bonifacio Global City (BGC) in Taguig city.

Indeed, the Levante is a turning point in Maserati’s history." But it was a necessary turn.
"The Levante was conceived around three main pillars: design, exclusivity and performance, and it represents the optimum blend of these three elements in the SUV world."
Interviewing Willy, he revealed that the Maserati Levante costs around Php 8 to 9 million and upwards. What would make you buy a high-end SUV? Please do check out our video interview with him for his answer that we may agree or find debatable depending on our lifestyle, and also probably on how we perceive our precious moments here in this world. Do we really deserve to pamper ourselves with a very much rewarding luxury or do we need to spend our money for only the necessities?

Wellington Soong, Chair and President of Autostrada

In my case, I would readily buy the finest cars if I do have the capability to spend in excess of the basic needs of everyday life. Now what I need is just the grace of the good Lord above to bless me with the fortune enough to buy me one unit. Lol!

Seriously, the Maserati Levante, or any other Maserati vehicle, may not be for everybody but it is indeed one of the best luxury cars out there in existence.

Below are a few more information gathered online from the Autostrada site for our reference:

"Maserati has been working on refining their first-ever SUV for years. First shown to the public in concept form in 2011 as the Maserati Kubang concept, the Maserati Levante was finally unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show on 01 March 2016. Just as Jaguar and Bentley are entering the growing SUV sector for their first time with their F-Pace and Bentayga products, Maserati Levante is the first Italian high-end SUV.

Levante is a warm Mediterranean wind that can change from mild to gale force strength in an instant. Would this give in an indication of the type of drive – comfortable for general luxury drive, or high performance when called upon – to expect?

The company states the Levante is “designed to be unique and built to be heard”. Maserati is not known to be shy with growly engines and exhausts, so we trust the “built to be heard” part will apply to Levante as well.

“The Maserati of SUVs” is how the maker of luxury sports cars and sedans are describing their SUV. By implication this would mean the same high-end quality in everything from engineering to interior finishes to on-road driving and exclusivity as status appeal.

Incorporating design cues from Maserati’s more than 100 year history (Maserati was founded in 1914) without tarnishing the brand’s strong reputation as builder of exclusive high-end cars was surely a designer’s challenge. Making in SUV is what the market requires… but making an SUV that is also a Maserati is no easy task. An aggressive front end, tapered headlights split into 2 elements (with upper headlight connected visually to the radiator grille) and the trademark Maserati triple side air vents on the front wings, trapezoidal C-pillar with the Saetta logo (that trident badge), frameless door windows… the shape is streamlined and meant to be typical of a high-performance sports car.

At a technical level, Maserati Levante promises to combine outstanding typical-Maserati on-road performance, handling even on low-grip surfaces, plus excellent off-road performance and ride.

Electronic air suspension with controlled damping, Q4 intelligent all-wheel-drive and 8-speed automatic are all standard, and all calibrated specifically for the brand’s brand-new SUV. Petrol and diesel engines are Euro 6 emissions compliant."
