International Coastal Clean-up at Las Piňas – Paraňaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Every September, several countries, including the Philippines, participate in a largest global volunteer effort on behalf of the ocean. The International Coastal Clean-up (ICC), according to Presidential Proclamation No. 470, is held annually every 3rd Saturday of September, which aims to educate and encourage citizens to take action and help conserve the diversity of marine life.

On the 17th of September, people will gather on beaches, coasts, rivers, waterways, and under water dive sites all over the world to remove trash and debris and identify their sources. The data gathered is used to raise awareness, inspire recycling efforts, and shape policy decisions.

This year, the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) - NCR will be celebrating the International Coastal Clean-up (ICC) along the coast of Las Piňas – Paraňaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area (LPPCHEA) on 17 Sept. 2016, 6AM.

There will be a short program at the Freedom Island of the Las Piňas – Paraňaque Critical Habitat and Ecotourism Area to signal the celebration of the ICC.

After the short program, the clean-up drive will be conducted by around 3000 individuals from
various NGOs, volunteer groups, school and college students.

To all those who will participate, we advise you to wear long sleeves, jeans, and a cap for it is hot and sunny at the area. Avoid wearing bright colors so the birds in the area won't be distracted since it's migration season.
