Imma Let You Finish But Taylor Swift Won Album of the Year at the 2016 Grammys

Wazzup Pilipinas!

"Imma let you finish but..." History almost repeated itself when Taylor Swift triumphed over Kendrick Lamar for The Grammys' Album of the Year!

Taylor Swift's “1989” wins album of the year, and also took home the best pop vocal album and best music video awards.

Meghan Trainor wins best new artist, while Ed Sheeran won his first two Grammys for song of the year for "Thinking Out Loud."  and best pop solo performance!

However, Kendrick Lamar, with 11 nominations in 9 categories, took home 5 prizes over all. Kendrick Lamar wins for "To Pimp a Butterfly." Does that make him the overall grand winner of the Grammys?

Taylor Swift win is a victory that probably has hip-hop fans howling. Some were disappointed that Taylor Swift won for best album over Kendrick Lamar, Alabama Shakes or The Weeknd. I don't think many agreed with the Grammys choice for album of the year, and rarely for best new artist. Some say it seems to be always some bland album/artist.

For all of you into rap and hip/hop, I feel your pain. Real Rock and Roll has rarely won, punk never won, it's usually some corporate album, nothing innovative or controversial.

Taylor Swift became the first woman to ever win The Grammys album of the year twice, and wasted little time before firing back at Kanye West by saying "There will be people along the way who will try to undercut your success, or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame. But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday when you get where you’re going, you’ll look around and you’ll know that it was you and the people who love you that put you there, and that will be the greatest feeling in the world."

With her acceptance speech, it felt like the first time we’ve truly seen the real Taylor Swift, at least at an award show. She ended it with the perfect mic drop — "Thank you for this moment."
