Roberto Bonifacio's 'My World, My Emotions' Exhibit at Renaissance Art Gallery

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Roberto "Rob" Bonifacio recently concluded his first solo exhibition at the Renaissance Art Gallery of SM Megamall in Mandaluyong last February 13 until the19th. The exhibit was the illustrative execution of his written thesis entitled "A Person with Autism's Expression of His Perception of  Emotions: A Penomenological Study."

Rob is a graduating student of Fine Arts at Kalayaan College with art influences from  Monet, Cezanne, Van Gogh and Picasso. Supported by his family, relatives, teachers, classmates and close friends, he considers himself as a surrealist and impressionist that uses pastels, watercolor, acrylic and oil in his artworks.

Seeing his works at the exhibit, you can sense that his favorite subjects are mostly his family. There were artworks representing his grandparents, father and other members of his family, including a portrait of his teacher who obviously made an impact on him.

The artworks, when displayed side-by-side together, form a very vibrant and colorful representation of his thinking. We can see a glimpse of how he sees the world through his paintings.

I met Senator TG Guingona at the event and he even showed us an artwork that he saved on his smartphone. The amazing colored caricature image was created by Rob himself. Impressive that Rob was able to accurately capture the features of the senator.

Not everyone can even draw, but Rob has showed the public that with lots of determination and passion to succeed, nothing is impossible. I believe that this genuine love for the arts has helped him overcome his limitations....or should we even call it like that. His condition may have been instrumental in his special interest.

Art critic and author Cid Reyes wrote an article about Rob and the event and acknowledges this exhibit as Rob's first solo exhibition that is most probably very memorable for the young artist with autism. We can sense his enthusiasm as he greets his visitors who were all curious to see his artworks.

One thing is certain, this brings further inspiration for him to continue his love for the arts as people showed how much they appreciate his creations. On the other end, many would also be inspired that Rob has accomplished such a great feat.

Congratulations Rob! I hope to see you again at your next exhibit soon. Please do invite me again so I can help share to the world your masterpieces.
