Awesome Vacation Getaways near Metro Cebu

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Looking for a holiday destination with both fantastic sights and urban flair? You can’t go wrong with Cebu, a bustling metropolis with plenty of local attractions you can drive to. Others consider Manila as the place where every single vacation spot is just a drive away. While Cebu City proper comes with all the amenities a dyed-in-the-wool city slicker could ask for, nothing beats the pleasure of going out of town for some real rest and relaxation.

Here we’ve rounded up a handful of the coolest getaways near Cebu City, all of which you should make time for and check out on the next long weekend:
 Mactan Island

Some of the world’s top hotel and resort chains have planted their flags on Mactan Island, and for good reason. Located just across the Mactan Channel from Cebu City, Mactan Island is less than half an hour’s drive away via the OsmeƱa Bridge or the Marcelo-Fernan Bridge.

A majority of the island’s most attractive beaches and resorts are located up and down the west coast, and include the likes of the Shangri-La Mactan Resort & Spa, Movenpick Hotel, Crimson Resort & Spa, and Plantation Bay. Also recommended are watersport destinations such as Club Kontiki Beach Resort and Jpark Island Resort & Waterpark, both near Maribago Beach.

 Southern Cebu

As a rule of thumb, many local beaches and resorts are located towards the southern end of Cebu island. You best bets include the municipalities of Moalboal, Dalaguete, Oslob, Alcoy, Baljoon, and Samboan.

Noteworthy attractions include Bas Dako, HK Resort and Kawasan Falls in Moalboal, Tingko Beach and Villa Rosa in Alcoy, Tumalog Falls and Sumilon Blue Island Resort in Oslob, and Granada Beach House in Boljoon. Oslob is also a favorite destination for watching whale sharks (butanding), while Moalboal is great for snorkeling.

 Malapascua Island

If you’re looking to really get away from it all, why not trek all the way up north to Malapascua Island? This small island just off the coast of Daanbantayan has gained prominence as one of Cebu’s most popular dive spots, with plenty of dive resorts and marine life sightings to satisfy adventurous travellers. Local highlights include Bounty Beach, Kalanggaman Islet and Logon Beach.

To reach Malapascua Island, you’d need to take a nearly four-hour drive (by bus or van) to Maya, then hop on a boat to the island. However, you can also make your transport arrangements in Cebu City through the resort you’ve made reservations with.

The island of Cebu features tons of local attractions you can access in a matter of hours, provided you’re travelling by car. Because accidents could happen at any time, you must ready your trusty vehicle for the long haul. Before starting your trip, take precautions such as planning your travel route, doing thorough research on your destination, reviewing your car insurance policy, and subjecting your car to a general maintenance checkup. Here’s wishing you a fun and worry-free vacation!

  2. This article is nice because it presented places in Cebu that we can consider if we want to relax with our family or if we want to have a break from the stressful life in Manila. Also, it is good because it's a form of proudly promoting another beautiful place in the Philippines. Lastly, I just want to say that these activities that they offer are very exciting and I'm looking forward in visiting the mentioned places someday.
