Math Becomes Easy as 123 with Koobits

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Math is undoubtedly the meanest subject in school where many of our students are having difficulty of learning. Even adults cringe at the thought of having to solve math problems for their kids. It seems all those numbers keep jumbling up like crazy every time we are faced with the dilemma of solving a math problem.

Singapore children had an advantage having an online portal that was very useful in learning math the fun and easy way. Now, the Philippines is also fortunate that the people behind the project has also decided to launch it in our country.

The launch of Koobits Pte. Ltd. Singapore was held last July 15, 2014, Tuesday, 10 am  at the Nostalg Ballroom of Oakwood Premier Joy-Nostalg Center located at 17 ADB Ave, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

Multi-awarded speaker Mr. Stanley Han, author of the book Motivation Dynamics: From Gaming to Learning and Chief Executive Officer of Koobits Pte. Ltd. Singapore, led the launch of Singapore's top online math portal here in the Philippines.

With special guest celebrity G Toengi-Walters, KooBits Brand Ambassador, participating in the panel that were interviewed by the members of the press.

BGC Eats 2014: Something's Cooking at Bonifacio Global City

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I got a tasty invite to the 2nd run of a culinary tour within a continuously developing but balanced mixed-use district of residential, office, and commercial establishments with more than 240-hectare of urban development.

They say the Bonifacio Global City BGC EATS citywide food tour was cooked up by Passionate Minds for passionate Stomachs. I may have to agree, as we all experienced a very creative and scientific way of  exploring the sights. There was Science in everywhere that we went to.

From the first stop at Gustare kitchen or commissary where their elite customers can also dine on not just sweet treats like the Strawberry Lemon juice, Canonigo w/ custard sauce, Calamansi sans rival but also on uniwue food like the Salabat cookies, the shamporado cookies, and the Santol Bagoong.

The second destination we visited was another delightful feast. Prost German pub was a great choice to dine on splendid sausages of all kinds - from the lengthy to the most stout! I heard there were also a lot of kinds of beers served especially during night time while watching your favorite sports on TV.

Our third and last stop was at the Mind Museum where everyone were treated to the weird stuff. Imagine biting on a jelly added with a whole locust prepared by Adobo Queen Chef Nancy Reyes Lumen, eating earthworms hidden within the banana bread prepared by Chefs Erik Capaque and Claudette Uy, trying out the milk and ice cream made from nuts, tasting the seaweed and cassava starch of Kyle Imao of Kyle's Lab, and feasting on soy and moringa treats, otherwise known as malunggay, prepared by tukayo Chef Sau Del Rosario.

Incidentally, there's going to be an event called Future Feast to be held at the Mind Museum on July 26, 2014 Saturday from 12 noon to 7 pm.

Stop Webcam Snoopers Cold with Kaspersky Internet Security

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Webcams let family members, friends and business associates connect face-to-face across the world.

Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of secure content and threat management solutions observed that in the last decade, webcams become so ubiquitous.

The phenomenon of seeing someone as they speak with another person tens or thousands of miles away has gone from a pipedream to a commonplace reality that can take place in the palm of a hand, courtesy of smartphones.

But users are not the only people who can access the webcam on a computer.

Attackers with programs like Blackshades remote access tool (RAT), which was cracked down on earlier this year, can essentially hack their way into other computer and use the camera at will.

The program is sold for only USD40 (more than P1,500) at different sites.

Power Toothbrush from Philips Promises Advanced Plaque Removal

Wazzup Pilipinas!

A person’s smile conveys happiness, pleasure and amusement. And the power of this smile has plenty to do with how clean one’s teeth are. That’s why people go to great lengths to ensure their oral hygiene with daily brushing and regular visits to the dentist.

Oral health is something that people should not overlook. Clean teeth and gums not only look good, but also help us to avoid oral infections and even diseases,” comments Ms. Me-Ann Achacoso, Philips Business Development Manager for Health and Wellness.

To promote good oral habits, Philips is introducing its new Sonicare EasyClean toothbrush. Equipped with its very own patented sonic technology and ProResults brush head, the Sonicare EasyClean promises to whiten teeth by removing and reducing stains, with up to two times more plaque removal than a manual toothbrush.

According to Ms. Achacoso, the Sonicare EasyClean toothbrush produces 31,000 brush strokes per minute which results into a dynamic cleaning action that drives fluids between the teeth and along the gumline to remove harmful plaque. It features a Smartimer that helps ensure the recommended dental time for brushing, and a Quadpacer that encourages thorough brushing in all quadrants of the mouth.

What Situation did the President Compare the Supreme Court Decision to?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

In President Benigno Simeon Aquino III’s speech last week addressing the Disbursement Acceleration Program, he compared the Supreme Court’s decision to make it unconstitutional to a motorist getting arrested just because he parked his motorcycle in a no parking zone because he had to save the life of a victim who either go ran over by a bus or stabbed by a snatcher. It is a sorry situation for the victim to say the least. However, this comparison is far from the truth. President Aquino is not exactly a Good Samaritan since the Filipino people know him too well.

You have to give credit to whoever outlined the speech of President Aquino because that is a good comparison to tell the people. The people will think that the president was treated unfairly by the Supreme Court since they made the DAP unconstitutional. It looks like Aquino is not going to give up on trying appealing the decision of the Supreme Court anytime soon so you have to admire the courage of the President for trying. He is trying to show that he has leadership in this country which makes him the boss but he has stated several times in his speeches that the Filipino people are his true boss.

The President should have compared the decision to yesterday’s event at the Smart Araneta Coliseum. It was poor decision making on the part of Manny Pangilinan to let the event with the NBA players go on when they were not allowed to play a 5 on 5 games against the Smart Gilas team back in April. Despite that, the event pushed through and a bunch of NBA players backed out at the last minute. If the president’s speech happened sooner, then that situation would have been a better comparison to the Supreme Court’s ruling of the DAP.

Did Mar Roxas Doomed his Looming 2016 Presidential Candidacy Because of DAP?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It is pretty obvious why President Aquino defended DAP so much during his last speech. His best friend Mar Roxas just got P10 billion from it for a project that is not among the mandate of the DILG. The man responsible for giving him that amount is none other than Department of Budget secretary Butch Abad. The amount could very well give Roxas a good start for his presidential campaign com 2016. Mar is expected to be the leading candidate of the Liberal Party for the upcoming presidential elections. As early as now, he could be preparing for this since it is always an advantage over other opponents if you prepare early.

It does not appear that Mar Roxas is contented with his post as secretary of DILG as he is getting funds for other projects that are not under DILG. Now that it is made public that he was given P10 billion from the DAP, will Mar step out of the presidential race? He could still run for president in the upcoming elections since he has nothing to lose anyway. If you lose in the presidential elections then you won’t really lose much.

However, it is one thing to be addressed as the president of the country so it is understandable why a lot of people would love to become a president here. Mar Roxas was supposed to run for presidency in the last presidential elections but being a good friend that he is, he decided to give way to his best friend Ninoy Aquino in running for the post. When Pnoy’s term is over, Mar looks to become the next president. However, he should be careful with what he is doing during his term as the vice president since the people are watching his every move then decide from there.

The Last Home Stand Between Gilas Pilipinas and NBA All Stars: What Really Happened?

Wazzup Pilipinas!
The organizers, including PLDT (Panay Lang Drills and Tricks) and NBA (No Basketball, Anyare?), knows they did something wrong but they're not telling us the whole story. I was there at the "charity event" and stayed a little while. I was able to talk with some key personalities and they all seem hesitant to reveal everything they know of what really happened.

Many were screaming for a refund and obviously full of disgusts while watching the "charity event" that turned out to be the most expensive for the people who were all there to witness what they thought was a friendly competitive game between the two teams.

There was even a sign shown containing telephone numbers for people to contact for refund requests, and many also lined up to sign their name and mobile numbers only to find out later that nobody from PLDT was getting the list anyway.

The hallways of Smart Araneta Coliseum were full of frustrated basketball lovers all cursing the organizers for the perceived scam that they felt cheated them of their hard-earned money.
Below are the official statements released by PLDT and NBA.

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Lamudi is officially the most visited property portal in the Philippines, with the website now the country’s number one real estate platform for traffic.

Clark Airport Opens Modern Passenger Wing; New LCC Terminal Proposed to Neda Next Month

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Playing a significant role in the country’s long-term airport strategy, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) and the Clark International Airport Corporation (CIAC) are pouring investments into the Clark aerotropolis’ development, to prepare it as an international hub alongside the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) and the Sangley airport for decades to come.

“We see Clark International Airport (CRK) as a premier gateway alongside NAIA and Sangley, especially in view of its rapid growth over the past few years, as well as government’s development plans for the entire economic zone and the rest of the region. This is the direction we are taking for presentation to the President, for his consideration,” remarked DOTC Secretary Jun Abaya.

“The airport’s passenger terminal building (PTB) was expanded last May, providing new and modernized facilities to better serve the public and boosting annual passenger capacity to around 4 million from the previous 2.5 million,” he said.

The P 417-Million improvement project increased the PTB’s size from 11,439 square meters to 19,799 square meters, and increased its check-in counters from 13 to 34. In order to accommodate more passengers and ease queuing, 12 departure counters and 5 arrival counters have also been added. The modernized portion of the terminal itself has 8 entry points and 3 customs stations. This allows CRK to expand its airport operations by accommodating more international flights from Qatar Airways and Emirates.

CRK’s expanded operations began last May, upon the completion of its Passenger Terminal Expansion Project (Phase II).

Anna Oposa: An Interview with the Chief Mermaid of Save Philippine Seas

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We were very fortunate to interview the Chief Mermaid of the Save Philippine Seas (SPS), Anna Oposa, who was a speaker in one of the events that Wazzup Pilipinas attended which had several social innovators as guests within its three days of learning and interacting with peers who share a common interest: to reach out to our fellow men as a response to social awareness.

Out of the hundreds who registered to be included on the list of attendees for the Dream Expo MNL, I was lucky enough to be one of the 200 chosen to get the opportunity to listen to esteemed speakers who already made a significant impact in society even at a very young age.

One of them was Anna Oposa who was quite remarkable on stage especially with the way she played with words during her presentation. She really commanded attention from the audience.

Below are the questions we presented to her, along with the corresponding answers:

Social Experiments: When Blind Items Become Too Factual - It Hurts!

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We've asked it before, and we will ask it again. It hurts, right?

Don't go running to your friends to ask for sympathy. Karma is really a bitch! Too bad it is destined to go around trying its best to ultimately balance everything. But when you react to blind items thinking that it was referring to you, then your guilt just made you admit to your own faults.

We know life can be cruel sometimes. But the world does not revolve around you alone. We may be referring to somebody else, or like you said, this may be just another one of our social experiments. We are a happy bunch of retards aimed to rule the world. We are your friendly neighborhood politicians. The people loved us so much that they keep voting for us.

Now you know what it feels like being talked about. We've been bullied before. We know it stings so much we could almost puke. Spit and shit blood!

We did say we were willing to take a beating from all of the issues thrown at us - the resilient race. But please do not flatter yourself too much believing you're the star in our show. Unfortunately, there are just too many people like you who lack the courtesy to just keep to themselves. You cannot change the world by hitting everyone with a silver bullet because they may not be werewolves. A lot of creatures roam around the neighborhood in search of prey especially during the night. Some of them drain your blood, some of them will rip your heart out, while some will eat your brains - if ever you have one.

UNTV Versus Sofitel: Trending Negatively Due to Bad Publicity

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It's UNTV against Sofitel. Who would win? Many would side with the underdog, but many will be saying its up to who has the best lawyers. UNTV may get public sympathy but is it all worth it for just one hotel among the many that exists in the country. So what if they banned their TV show in their hotel? Will the effect be significant? Will they be losing a lot if guests in this hotel fail to watch their show in this particular hotel.

Some people just do not realize that it is not just about the amount, the number, the figures, and everything else similar. It is about the principle! To fight for what is right. Sabi nga nila, "Kapag may katwiran, ipaglaban mo!"

But frankly, when we check in at hotels, most of us watch the entertainment channels and less of the news channel. Most of the people who go on business or leisure trips rarely watch the news on TV, and are rarely inside their rooms for the whole day. After waking up, we brush our teeth, take a shower, wear our clothes for the day, and leave the room to take breakfast. We mostly come back at the end of the day.

PNoy Says, Supreme Court Says: It's Their Word Against the World

Wazzup Pilipinas!

We know we have laws, but still many are willfully breaking it. You know why? Because laws are man-made! Laws were meant to guide us but it should not limit us to accept as is, where is - if we know deep inside that it is wrong in the first place. They are the same laws that are being used for evil doers to get away with crimes committed against others. Loopholes exists. Whether we accept it or not, these laws were made by men with hidden agendas and malicious intents.

We've learned a great deal in the past months that most of our trusted men from the government are devious thieves who had their eyes on the "kaban ng bayan" since day one. A great percentage of our politicians are guilty of political dynasties, many of them do not follow the voting and campaign guidelines. Yet they still win. How come?

We basically do not follow our common sense. We follow our emotions. We follow our hearts. We get in trouble because of that. We are just too kindhearted to begin with. We easily forget. We easily forgive. However, eventhough we use our critical thinking in our decision making, there are just too many smart asses out there that are apparently smarter than us. Dim-witted and gullible. These are attributes we are commonly associated with that is why the "trapos" still exists.

When Feelingeras Become Boom Panes

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Some people need to get laid more often because they have too much time to waste and nothing better to do than to rumor-monger and gang-up on unsuspecting people without giving the accused a chance to defend themselves.

There was this thread created by a blogger who thought he should make everyone take notice of a fellow blogger who was copy-pasting articles from another site. It is OK to "police" the community but we should do it more professionally. What is worst is when others were too quick to judge and even inject unnecessary comments that would even implicate others not directly involved.

They should get a life out in the real world away from the keyboard or keypad or touch screen of their PCs or smartphones. Matapang lang sila online pero pag kaharap mo na ay di makaporma.

Winning people is like having sex. You need to begin with a foreplay. Explore her body, work on her G-Spot, and make the ecstacy linger before finally thrusting back and forth that long hard pulsating shaft deep into into her warm quivering moisted membrane until both of you reach an orgasm.

Many are just too trigger-happy to fire that damn shame gun. Putok agad at wala man lang warning shot.

Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014: Kris Aquino as Female TV Host of the Year

Wazzup Pilipinas!

I was actually on my way to the men's room when I saw this woman being escorted by a bunch of similarly-uniformed men and women. This woman had facial skin as white as snow that even in the dark it was very noticeable. I stopped and took a closer look and luckily heard her talk. There I quickly realized it was the Queen of All Media, Kris Aquino.

I think she never came in at the purple carpet walkway of the Yahoo Celebrity Awards that night. She probably entered from the backstage to keep away from the crowd all waiting infront of the SM Mall of Asia Arena last July 18. Well, wherever she came in, I was glad I was at the right time and place when she came in to prepare for her grand entrance to accept the award as Female TV Host of the Year.

Apparently, the stars already know if they won or not that night. They already prepared for speeches and everything, including their glamorous outfit for the event. But Kris was wearing a simple yet elegant outfit that was not too overwhelmingly noticeable. She was wearing hair extensions that night probably because she felt she really look better with long hair. Because we all know her as the vibrant host of morning and night TV shows, she still exuded an aura of prestige.

Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014: I Wanna Be Like Social Media Star Vice Ganda

Wazzup Pilipinas!

It was no surprise that Vice Ganda won as Social Media Star at the Yahoo Celebrity Awards last July 18, 2014 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena. She also got the Love Team of the Year award together with Karylle for Vicerryle. This is one celebrity that has made a lot of creative effort and obviously has a genuine talent to come out with engaging social media influences with netizens worldwide.

The Unkaboggable comedian and Boom Panes fame wacky host never fails to arouse the interest of the madlang people on whatever social media network or fan site she owns and maintains. Widely recognized thanks to the It's Showtime noontime variety show, many have said that Vice Ganda is the life of the show. The only reason why the program has continued to stay broadcasting because of the humorous content that she contributes.

The rest of the co-host has their own unique talents but nothing compared to the appeal of the well celebrated comedian of the masses. She truly makes everyone laugh a lot everytime she opens that witty mouth of hers. Now, when you see her move. the that already is a big plus for everyone!

Congratulations, Vice Ganda. Keep on making the lives of the people a lot more cheerful everyday, may it be on TV or online.

The Real Filipina: Morena, Mestiza, Chinita or Negra?

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Most of the time I feel we are a confused race. This is because when most of the people from the other areas of the globe wants to go to the tropical countries to get a tan and darken their skin, we are obsessed with getting white, and if possible white as snow, because majority of us were brainwashed in thinking a white complexion is the most appealing.

If you'll visit the other side of the world, there are no such thing as a glutathione search or skin whitening mania. We should be proud of our own color. The real Filipina complexion is the morena or negra, not the mestiza, not the chinita. I would be very proud if I belong to the first two skin hues.

Since we were conquered by the other races, and many Filipinos are crossing the boundaries of relationships among other nationalities, we now have a mixed citizenship. Would you believe that Filipinos nowadays are more proud if they have half-nationalities. The mixed breeds are flaunting their foreign bloods. They feel more esteemed when they can say they are half-Spanish, quarter-American, or one eight of Chinese.

Indeed, they are special since when we Filipinos merge with other races, we become more distinctive, we look more different, we sound so elite. This is why many are obsessed to change how they look. They change their hair color, they undergo plastic surgery for a pointier nose, they buy all the whitening soaps and creams, ...and they marry foreigners just because they want children that look nothing like them.

DOTC Secretary Abaya's Closing Remarks at the Daylight Dialogue

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) Secretary Joseph Emilio Aguinaldo Abaya delivered the following closing remarks at last week’s Daylight Dialogue: The Good Governance Challenge, held at the MalacaƱang Palace and attended by President Benigno Aquino III, World Bank President Jim Yong Kim, public and private sector leaders, and other advocates of good governance and development reform:

A pleasant afternoon to all of you.

I am deeply honored for this opportunity to speak today. This conference lays emphasis on the cornerstone of this administration’s promise to every Filipino: a leadership of integrity, a government of reform, a policy of transparency and accountability to the people, an ultimate goal of inclusive growth.

The Daylight Dialogue, today’s gathering has been called, and aptly so. Each one of us was drawn here today by a common vision for the country – one that has come from many years of darkness and has finally seen the light; one that we will never allow, for the sake of our children and future generations, to ever retreat once more into the shadows and negate the progress we are making today.

We are here for the same reason. We are committed to good governance and reform. More significantly, we are committed to making these changes irreversible.

Today, we have engaged in profound discourses on the success of President Aquino’s administration in pulling the country into the light, and how we can work together towards ensuring that we will never again succumb to the dark. We have spoken about how we will hurdle the challenges thrown our way, and how we will institutionalize government’s accountability to the public.
