e-Blog Mo Na Yan! Radio Show Touches on a Variety of Interesting Topics

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Last Saturday's (September 6, 2014) episode of e-Blog Mo Na Yan in partnership with Vigattin Radyo Inquirer and Wazzup Pilipinas had special guests from start-up SALT talking about salt and water powered lights and other appliances via a customized circuit designed by the team, Mr. Gerric Chua of the famous Eng Bee Tin popularly known for their special hopia, tikoy and mooncake who discussed about the Mooncake Festival and the extra preparations they made to recognize the event, plus Electrical, Electronics and Computer Engineering students from the University of the Philippines Diliman to promote their upcoming event called Synergy.

As usual, your friendly neighborhood pambansang blogger is a mainstay of the show so Ross Del Rosario of Wazzup Pilipinas was always there to interview the guests, and eventually to blog about the radio show.

There were supposed to be other guests but had to cancel due to sickness but they promise to be in attendance this coming Saturday September 13, 2014. This Saturday's episode will surely be very interesting as we will mostly talk about business and entrepreneurship like starting a "start-up" where even the youth and inexperienced are given opportunities to make a name for themselves.

SALT's idea turns the ordinary and bountiful salt and water coupled with some circuitry into a source of electricity that may soon become the answer to the power needs of many especially those in the far away provinces where electricity is badly needed.

Eng Bee Tin celebrates the Mooncake Festival with a display of a giant mooncake, as well as the offering of special flavored mooncakes including the one with rose petals as part of the ingredients. Eventually, immediately after the radio show, we spent our lunch time at one of the Chua's restaurants called Mezzanine Cafe located in Binondo where we were treated with a moderate feast.

We also had the opportunity to dine at Swensen's Ice Creams and Sundaes located at SM North EDSA The Block were we were treated to great ice cream sundaes courtesy of Ace Azarraga of Swensen's, our previous guest a few Saturdays ago.

If you are wondering how we were able to travel from Makati, to Manila and then to Quezon City, I couldn't believe it myself but all had very good reasons why it came to be. Lol! Like they said, if you are persistent enough, the eventual rewards will be bountiful.

Synergy, now on its third year, continuously provides opportunities for Electrical and Electronics Engineering students (BS CoE, BS ECE and BS EE) in the Philippines to showcase important contributions of the academe to the country. It is UP Engineering Radio Guild's main event, and has consistently been joined by several students from different universities and colleges. The Synergy Summit is a three-day event of competitions, talks and company tour. This year, Synergy Summit will be held on the third week of November.

For this Saturday, we will be having known personalities from the IT and start-up industries, like Earl Valencia, President and Founder of the IdeaSpace Foundation Incubator and VP of Corporate Innovation at SMART Communications.

We will also Bryan Gallinger, a serial entrepreneur, musician and philanthropist by background here in Manila who was originally from the US. He expanded the Iron Sharpens Iron concept from the west coast where he originally founded it. He started developing ISI here in late 2011 but formally launched the organization in Dec 2012. He is doing volunteer work and producing events through ISI.

Joining them this Saturday is another core member of ISI, Clément Yeung is the Chairman of Vandt International, a full service digital marketing agency obsessed with generating significant revenue wins for its clients.
Guest blogger will be Alvin Laurente of www.alvinlaurente.com, a business blogger who is definitely very appropriate for this Saturday's episode of e-Blog Mo Na yan! radio segment.

Expect a discussion full of learning and opportunities. Stay tune at Vigattin Radio of Radyo Inquirer DZIQ 990 AM for one of the most interesting episode.
