Bangka-sion: A Tabang Tambayan Benefit Gig for Coron, Palawan

Wazzup Pilipinas!

What is Tabang Tambayan?

Tabang is a Visayan word that means tulong in Tagalog and help in English. Tambayan is a Tagalog word, translated in english as a comfi (comfortable) place.

Tabang Tambayan is a project by The Silver Lining Project, Primarch Entertainment, SparkMyIdeas, individual organizers, Kamilla Sumagui, Bryan Favorito, Jansie Hernandez and Kris Garcia, and several volunteers. It is a series of events, whether gigs or workshops, aimed to bring together artists and artisans from the creative and music industries to pool together their talents as a means of providing assistance to our Yolanda survivors.

Together with beneficiaries, the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary-401 Squadron, PCGA-Coron and AirJuan, the fundraising drive is for the Relief-Rehab-Rebuild of the project's adopted community and barangay, Sitio Maricaban in Coron, Palawan.

What is Bangka-sion:

The Bangka-Sion(Bangka Mission) has 2 parts. The first of Bangka-sion is a benefit gig celebrating the power of the sea. The beauty which most beholds as magnificent and the strength that leaves most in awe, we need to honour this strength and power. More importantly we need to celebrate the men and the vessels braving it.

The second part of Bangka-Sion is the Ciento Cincuenta, this is for those who, despite the problematic schedule would still want to lend help to those needing it. For a small amount of 150 Php (An amount similar to the entrance fee), one could help raise the fund for one boat which in equivalent costs 30 thousand pesos.

Bangka-syon Objectives:

After the super typhoon Yolanda hit Philippine waters last November 2013. A lot of our country men lent a hand to help those who have been damaged severely by the storms. Most relief effort focused in Tacloban since it was the worst hit area. But there are areas where in relief wasn’t able to reach. This includes Coron, Palawan.

The situation of our adopted community in Coron is depressing. The basic needs of the community are only given to them through various fund raising events.

Our focus for this may is their livelihood. Most men from Sitio Maricaban are fisher mongers but since the storm destroyed their boats, their livelihood was put into halt.

We aim to build at least 20 fishing boats for the community’s perusal, through the funds raised.

With, we hope to see you on the 27th of June at Plato Bar & Kitchen located at Unit 112 Sherwood Place, 2264 Taft Ave, Malate, Manila, and be part of our movement.
