BLTX Small Press Expo: Geek Fun, Indie Insights & Best Practices

What you'll see are images from the BLTXIV: Fourth Annual Better Living through Xeroxography Small Press Expo: Geek Fun, Indie Insights, and Best Practices!

The Youth & Beauty Brigade in partnership with Lopez Museum and Library held the semi-annual small press expo BLTXIV: Fourth Annual Better Living through Xeroxography Small Press Expo on December 14 (Saturday) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In support of the efforts of production and marketing of handmade items such as books, comics, anthologies, and magazines by the Filipino youth, featured at the expo were over fifty sellers with items that were difficult to find through mainstream channels, and not sold by major bookstores.

 
Participants were Gener PedriƱa, Gelo Suarez and Donna Miranda, Ardie Aquino, UP Writers Club, Heritage Conservation Society (Youth), UP UGAT, Carameldita, Carlocrazy Clemente, KATAGA QC, Elbert Or, Birdhouse Baker, Staple & Perk, Zigzag Animals, Patrick Rawrr, Rolf Campos, Makoy Dakoykoy & Ungaz Press, Kubori Kiliam, Pulang Lupa Foundation, The Cabinet, Happy Comix & Alternative Print, Kowtow Komiks, Mina Esguerra, Apol Sta. Maria, THE Rob Cham, Moar Books!, Flipside, Paper Monster, Sturnino Bassila, Nine Iron, Mazinger Zine, Pinoy Reads Pinoy Books Book Club, Bomba Press feat. Claire Villacorta, Ricardo A. Guiao Jr, the Youth & Beauty Bridgade, Silent Sanctum Manga, Josef Nicolas, Netz Yumul and DJ Legaspi.
 




 
 
 
A forum on establishing alternative systems of selling and distribution of books and other merchandise were held from 2-4 p.m. in the museum. Being an informal discussion on efforts to establish distribution systems alternative to the mainstream channels of bookstore red tape and monopolies! Featured speakers were Mina Esguerra of Bright Girl Books, Wina Puangco of Moar Books, Kenneth Yu of By Implication, Honey de Peralta of Flipside Publishing, and Nida Ramirez of Visprint.
