Life of a Pascian Student

Wazzup Pilipinas!

If you heard the word "Pascian", what is the first thing that will come into your mind?

Many people might think, they are the scholarship students who strive and study hard to maintain their grades, while others might think, they are the students who always act all high and mighty just because they can maintain an average grade that is not lower than eighty-five.

How about you, what is your opinion?...The former or the latter?

When I first heard that I passed the entrance exam and will study in Pasig City Science High School, I had the opposite reaction, instead of being ecstatic and patting myself on the back, I got very sad, and I know you're thinking who in his or her right mind will apply to a school when you have no interest in it. Well in my defense, my mother was the one who pushed me into taking the entrance exam.

I did not expect to pass the exam neither did I expect that I will be fifty-fifth in ranking. But after some thinking I came up with a decision,... why not try it? Maybe there is a reason why I passed the exam.

On the first day of school, I had no one to talk to. The only classmate I had in elementary was in another section. Also, I am very shy and doesn't have the courage to start a conversation. But days passed, I opened up a bit to some of my classmates. Even now, I'm still a bit reserved but at least my confidence improved a bit. Thanks to my new hobby, which is dancing, I got over my stage fright.

Studying in Pasig City Science High School is really hard. There would be times when I would sleep at three o'clock and wake up at five o'clock in the morning. So that's just basically two hours of sleep. When I was still in elementary, I remember that my science teacher told us that.. in order for our body to function properly, we need to have eight hours of sleep. That's why, when I was still in elementary, I would always sleep exactly at nine o'clock and wake up at five o'clock in the morning. There were also times when I can't understand the lesson, so I needed to ask some of my friends to teach me. One disadvantage was also the limited time with my friends. I think the only time we were able to spend time with each other is when we did our projects during weekends.

As many people say, "For every bad thing  in life, there are more good things to tip the balance." If there are disadvantages in studying at Pasig City Science High School, there are also many advantages. For instance when my mother introduced me to some of her visitors and told them I am studying in Pasig City Science High School, they would be amazed and asked questions about my school. And also imagine the advantage we will get when we go to college because the lessons we have are very advanced compared to the lessons of an ordinary high school. One thing for sure... I didn't regret my decision to study at Pasig City Science High School :)

  3. I am an alumni. I wonder, is Pasig Science lowering its standards that much? Too many errors in spelling and subject-verb agreement. Grammatically incorrect and awkward sentences are ever-present. Ellipsis after a question mark and a comma? Seriously? Girl, improve your writing skills. Read it aloud before sending it. It's not always the editor's job to proofread your work.

    1. Excuse me, I was referring to a student of a SCIENCE HIGH SCHOOL. Do you really get it? I was targeting the standards of OUR school. How it has been after I have graduated. And this is a Filipino blog using English as its primary language. They should have at least proof read it. I don't see lapses like these in other community blogs. Don't be such a cry baby. You're too defensive and you're not even the person in the hot seat. I don't care if I don't master Filipino (Tagalog is not a language FYI) since I don't need deep Filipino words to talk to everyone else. And yes, I didn't pursue college anymore since I chose to start my business instead. I don't want to become an employee relying on other people's choice. I want to be my own boss. So if you have nothing to do, KINDLY shut your mouth.
