Scarlett Johansson Named "Sexiest Woman Alive" for 2013

Wazzup Pilipinas!

After seven years of being named the "Sexiest Woman Alive", Scarlett Johansson has once again been chosen for the sexiest title by Esquire magazine.

Esquire magazine is a one-stop shop for lifestyle advice – cars, culture, grooming, gadgets, food, fashion and more – and a showcase for brilliant journalism and photography. Esquire is intelligent, irreverent and unapologetically masculine.

Scarlett Johansson was named Esquire's "Sexiest Woman Alive" for 2013! This makes her the first woman to get the honor twice.

Scarlett, as beautiful and sexy as she is, is really quite common for many who are used to the blonde-next- door-neighbor beauties. She would not turn many a head on any street (where blonds are familiar) anywhere. I can never quite understand the view that the "world's sexiest" are American film stars. But I guess its what appeals to the readership. Check out Bollywood... or the natural beauties on any street in Italy or France or Czech Republic, or Ukraine or... even the Philippines!

There have been many who were already names as The Sexiest Woman Alive (Yeah! It would be gross and stupid to include the dead personalities - and they won't be around to accept the recognition and pose for the magazine).  Among the women chosen for the title were Charlize Theron, Mila Kunis, Kate Beckinsale, Halle Berry, Miranda Kerr, Rihanna, Minka Kelly, Jessica Biel and probably lots more.

Our very own Esquire Philippines has already awarded the coveted title of “Sexiest Woman Alive” to the likes of French-Filipina beauty Solenn Heussaff just this year, 2013 back in February. Our own half-Filipina beauty therefore joins Esquire’s roster of beautiful women.

“We’ve been seeing a lot of her these days, with ads for vodka, pizza and condos,” Esquire said.“But we’ve also been seeing her with a lot less – less clothing, inhibitions, and fear. Sexy has become synonymous with Solenn. How could we deny her the title?,” it added. Solenn was the first local celebrity to be named the coveted title by the magazine since it debuted in the Philippines in October 2011.

What somehow bothers me is that individuals would mostly be half of some other nationality for a Filipina to be recognized. Do we really need to copulate with native residents of other countries before our offsprings be included among the most noticeable personality branded with titles like the most sexiest to ooze with beauty? Does beauty really require to be coming from the merging of two people from different countries?

Check out most of our beauty competition winners, the latest of which is Megan Young. She has dual citizenship. She is an American and a Filipino at the same time. Her last name "Young" is a dead giveaway!

I have nothing against the facts previously stated, and I do believe the same reasons has done wonders for many of us Filipinos. In the first place, Filipinos have been a product of many merging of nationalities, and our race continues to benefit from such.

However, some would tend to discriminate, intentionally and even unconsciously, for they now have a false sense of identifying beauty.

How about you? Would you consider yourself beautiful or among the sexiest? Who lays down the criteria to rate you from 1 to 10?
