The Globe Tower Features Cutting-Edge In-Building Solution

Wazzup Pilipinas!

Globe Telecom partnered with Huawei Technologies to provide state-of-the-art in-building wireless service solution for the company’s new corporate headquarters located in the country’s premier business district, Bonifacio Global City.

An in-building solution addresses the need for dedicated seamless indoor coverage and location-based services and applications.

The end-to-end in-building solution design involves the deployment of hybrid fiber and RF coaxial distributed antenna system (DAS) to provide high-capacity multi-technology mobile broadband services in The Globe Tower. The design provides delivery of consistent and seamless coverage in all areas of 28-floors of The Globe Tower including lifts, and parking areas.

“In order to guarantee an optimal network performance and seamless customer experience, Globe has adopted an industry-leading in-building solution using Huawei’s industry-leading software defined radio (SDR) wireless access technology,” said Gerhard Tan, Head of Globe’s Radio Network Engineering.

The use of SDR multi-frequency and multi-technology allows the delivery of wireless service on 2G, 3G, and LTE in Globe assigned frequencies in the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 2100 MHz bands. Moreover, the IBS solution has been designed to accommodate future wireless access technologies such as LTE Advanced, Tan said.

“With this IBS solution all Globe employees and visitors will enjoy up to 70 Mbps data download speed anywhere inside The Globe Tower. Partnering with Huawei and deploying its fully integrated in-building solution guarantees optimum network performance, highlighting the company’s superiority in mobile broadband services,” Tan said.

The IBS solution implemented in The Globe Tower can also be deployed to provide indoor mobile broadband services in similar enterprise buildings and/or high-rise residential buildings, he added.

The Globe Tower, which will be the main hub of company transactions and the new home for its employees, will bring together more than 4,000 of the company’s close to 6,000 employees.

The structure is also aligned with the Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED) standards, a green building rating system from the United States Green Building Council, in line with the company’s commitment to corporate sustainability.
