Alfa Sings at Le Cafe Curieux

Wazzup Pilipinas!

When I received an invite to attend the very first singing engagement of Alfa I already made a pre-event write-up about her at http://www.wazzuppilipinas.com/2013/09/alfa-one-night-in-makati.html. I also decided to embed some videos from her YouTube account on the article so I could also preview how she sings.

I was so starstruck because her voice was really dreamy! and her beauty was angel-like. I could say that she also has a very pleasing personality when we finally met her in person during her gig at the Le Cafe Curieux, a French bar and restaurant in Makati. This performance at Le Cafe Curieux was to be the first among her series of gigs around the country.

When we heard her sing live, she was even a lot better in person! Too bad the weather was not that cooperative! It rained during her performance but we considered it a blessing sent from above.

I was also surprised seeing her during the PHILTOA Philippine Travel Mart event where the Tourism Promotions Board of the Department of Tourism also invited her to perform. That was where we had a second opportunity for a photo ops.

Born in the Philippines to a family of musicians, Pop-folk artist Alfa can really make a bustling room stop with her alluring voice and disarming honesty. Alfa first learned to play the piano and violin playing nationally with the Children's Orchestra Society of New York. Her music has received honorable mention from the New York Songwriters Circle and won Grand Prize at Kollaboration Acoustic 2009, a competition highlighting Asian-American talent.

After graduating from New York University and working as a reporter, Alfa took up music full time, travelling across the US to play at college campuses and venues, garnering praise along the way.

Indie Music Reviewer has compared this multi-instrumentalist to " a clear blue sky and a candid soul" that begs the listener to "hear what else she has to say".

Alfa's irresistible  melodies and mart lyrics have landed her music in E!'s  "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" and MTV's "Friendzone", while Music Connection magazine listed her in its Top 25 Music Critiques of 2012, noting: "Fans of Ingrid and sara Bareiles will savor this artist."

Her latest album, "World Go Blue" has climbed US radio charts including the CMJ Top 200 and the Top 100 College Radio Chart.

Alfa gives a video invite to her fans and readers of Wazzup Pilipinas.

Seeing Alfa again during the PHILTOA Philippine Travel Mart held at the SMX Convention Center Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City in celebration of Philippine Tourism Week.

Thank you Alfa for the privilege of having a picture taken with you. I hope we see each other again soon.

And sorry about this delayed article. I was expecting an article contribution but due to unknown reasons, the contributor failed to deliver as promised. Thus, I find it necessary to do my own write-up. Better late than never!
