Impersonating the Goddess of Hunt and Moon

Wazzup Pilipinas!

The daughter of Leto and Zeus, and the twin of Apollo. Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals, and fertility. Sometimes, she is also called the Moon Goddess. Artemis was one of the Olympians and a virgin goddess. Her main vocation was to roam mountain forests and uncultivated land with her nymphs in attendance hunting for lions, panthers, hinds and stags. Contradictory to the later, she helped in protecting and seeing to their well-being, also their safety and reproduction. She was armed with a bow and arrows which were made by Hephaestus and the Cyclopes.

Being associated with chastity, Artemis at an early age (in one legend she was three years old) asked her father, the great god Zeus, to grant her eternal virginity. Also, all her companions were virgins. Artemis was very protective of her purity, and gave grave punishment to any man who attempted to dishonor her in any form.

I chose to costume play as Artemis because I idolize her simple yet strong personality. I think every lady should have a part of this goddess in them. Being strong and independent are some of the qualities that a woman should have in order to be successful in every field that she wants.

But most of all, I like Artemis because of her choice to have an eternal virginity. The undying chastity that she has, symbolizes the purity of herself, and I think, that trait , in these days, is rarely manifested.

  1. Hi Gee Ann! I strongly agree with you that every young lady must have the desire of being pure until their night of marriage. Unfortunately, it is also true that nowadays this virtue we call chastity is being neglected. I'm happy to be able to read an article like this of yours. By the way, I appreciate your costume and props, only few had an effort to prepare like what you did. As a friend, I think being an Artemis fits you. :)

  2. Hi Gee Ann :) I saw how much you like Artemis through this article and how in some way you're personality is similar to hers. I also think that you picked the right Goddess since you are able to write this article well. It also didn't only described Artemis but also the characteristics that women should have.
