Wheatberry: Your Friendly Neighborhood Bakery and Cafe

Wazzup Pilipinas !

Wikipedia says the term wheatberry or wheat berry refers to the entire wheat kernel (except for the hull), composed of the bran, germ, and endosperm. Wheatberries have a tan to reddish brown color and are available as either a hard or soft processed grain. They are often added to salads or baked into bread to add a crunchy texture. If wheat berries are milled, whole-wheat flour is produced.

This is probably where the Wheatberry Bakery and Cafe got its name. Its a bakery and a cafe in one that probably uses and serves whole unprocessed kernels of wheat.

But Pastry Chef Mary Sonia Cruz had a lot of stories to tell about Wheatberry and its origins. From its conception last 2001 to its birth last 2004 until today, Wheatberry aims to serve only high quality and unique products.

The restaurant is huge enough for a big group having a meeting or gathering. It is cozy and conducive enough for a splendid eating spree with friends, colleagues and family. Though it may call itself a bakery and cafe, it comes complete with all the kinds of food they can serve for all occasions.

The food servings are moderate and filling enough but could use some more improvement on the presentation and taste.

The staff should also take a bit of a course on customer service to improve their knowledge about the restaurant and the food that they serve.

There plenty of coffee drinks for everyone plus alternatives like juices and milk shakes.

They said the menu will be undergoing some changes as the meals illustrated there are not updated.

The second floor offers customers the comfort of a sofa, and some more tables for a wider space to move about.

How about some green ice tea to quench your thirst?

The vegetable house salad had grapes and chicken slices on top plus the dressing to improve the taste

Chicken Pesto Pasta is yummy chicken strips on top of delightful pasta surrounded by crisps garlic bread

This actually came first. The appetizer was enough to fill up your tummy already, and that's just for starters.

Everyone had a great time munching on the pizza from Wheatberry.

The seafood spaghetti was pleasant to look at and was a charm to dig in. The tomato based spaghetti sauce was just right to the taste.

The Mango Adobo Pizza was my favorite among the food served

The clubhouse sandwich topped was typical except the addition of the french fries

The nutty dessert brought back memories of when I used to loved all kinds of nuts.

Bicho-bicho - just couldn't get enough of these.

The Blueberry Cheesecake was sweet and tasty but fulfilling.

The Dulce de Leche could also be someone's favorite soon.
